ME

My name is Annalise Schrang. I am a third-year Interior Design Student at Iowa State University pursuing a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Interior design with a minor in Entrepreneurship. Throughout my courses, I have learned the importance of gathering information and completing research in order to better understand and produce a design that meets the client's desires. I have experience making residential and commercial designs using programs such as AutoCAD, SketchUp, InDesign, and Photoshop.

While growing up, I have always had a passion for creating and designing. Because I had a strong desire to create, I was able to experience and participate in different clubs, classes, and summer programs. I was able to expand my horizons within design, pushed my thinking and creativity, as well as meet individuals with the same drive and passion as myself. This has allowed me to apply my knowledge throughout the different spaces I have designed thus far in my schooling.

MONCLER SHOP-IN-SHOP

PROJECT NARRATIVE Situated in the heart of Rome, Italy, the Rinascente stands as a high-end Italian department store showcasing luxury accessories, clothing, and beauty products, complemented by a topfloor food hall.

Our assignment involved working on a specific luxury brand with ties to Italy. Moncler became our chosen brand, and we embarked on creating a distinctive shop-in-shop design situated on the fifth floor of the Rinascente.

Our task was to leverage research and understanding of the given space, reimagining the brand into a unique concept that stayed true to its core values.

HISTORY Originating in France, Moncler is a distinguished high-end fashion brand celebrated for its premium outerwear and accessories. René Ramillon founded the company in 1952 in the Alpine town of Monestier-de-Clermont, from which it derives its name. Moncler is renowned for its focus on top-quality materials, technical innovation, and a steadfast commitment to crafting premium products.

CONCEPT STATEMENT The concept marries modernity with Alpine tradition, creating a futuristic space that pays homage to Moncler’s roots—integrating distinctive materials to symbolize innovation while providing a captivating and immersive experience. This space aims not only to showcase Moncler’s products but also to become a destination that captures the fearless and adventurous spirit that defines Moncler.

FF&E In selecting materials and furniture for the space, we drew inspiration from Moncler's origins. The rugged, reflective, and distinctive nature of the Alps' mountain peaks guided our choices. We transformed the space by incorporating hammered silver, frosted glass, iron steel, and concrete, aligning with our vision for capturing the essence of Moncler.

LEFT AND RIGHT SIDE RENDERED ELEVATION On both sides of the shop-in-shop, varied heights of shelving units and mannequin displays showcase the latest lines being featured.

FRONT RENDERED ELEVATION The frontal view of the shop-in-shop features central columns flanked by two expansive racks on each side. This design fosters a circular circulation, enabling customers to have a comprehensive view of all the items on display.

FLOOR PLAN

The floor plan was strategically arranged, emphasizing a circulation design centered around three key racks. Towards the rear of the shop-in-shop, a distinctive feature wall incorporates brushed metal. Each triangular piece extends from the wall, symbolizing the mountain peaks of the Alps.

SPECIAL FEATURE

In the shop-in-shop, we introduced a distinctive feature by repurposing the original beams within the store and transforming them into digital screens.

Each image below corresponds to a video displayed on individual columns, playing on a continuous loop.

The selection of specific videos was based on Moncler's brand history and origins, as well as the featured products. Our goal was to immerse customers in environments where they might naturally don Moncler clothing or accessories, creating a unique and engaging shopping experience.

CELEBRITY HOUSE LUXURY HOUSE DESIGN

PROJECT NARRATIVE

Given absolute creative freedom, I had the liberty to select a celebrity for whom I could design a home tailored to their lifestyle. I opted for Devin Booker, an NBA basketball player affiliated with the Phoenix Suns. The chosen location for his new vacation home was Malibu, California—a perfect setting surrounded by fellow celebrities, waterfront views, and proximity to some of his preferred off-season destinations.

Extensive research dug into understanding Devin Booker's daily routine, hobbies, and personal style. Through interviews, it became evident that his post-game activities often involved hosting the team at his residence for poker games.

Considering the significant height difference inherent to NBA players, this detail was a key factor influencing every aspect of the design I conceptualized for his home.

CONCEPT STATEMENT

The design aims to craft a luxurious vacation residence that exudes warmth, tranquility, and ample space. This will be achieved through incorporating elements of nature, expansive windows, and a palette of neutral colors. The layout is meticulously arranged to offer the soothing presence of the ocean, audible and visible from every corner of the house. The home will seamlessly integrate principles of biophilia and place attachment theory into its overall design.

FF&E

When designing a vacation home for Devin Booker, I used a combination of materials and textures in each area. Devin likes vintage pieces with modern designs.

The furniture I picked is a combination of both. The materials I chose are more neutral in color.

This was designed with the beach and view in mind. The colors and textures don’t take away from the style but enhance the space.

The furniture also accommodates everyone.

CONCEPT STATEMENT To create a home that is private, luxurious, functional, and open to see the view from any room. The home will include enough space to fit his family and friends comfortably.

The space will feel relaxing, peaceful and quiet in order to rest after a long season.

LA.B POP UP SHOP

PROJECT NARRATIVE Our assignment involved the creation and conversion of Rinascente's atrium into a pop-up shop for LA.B. Our objective was to craft a space that not only attracted more customers but also effectively conveyed the core values of the company. The display needed to showcase the latest collection of bags, each narrating a unique story. Throughout the design process, we emphasized the significance of the red string, symbolizing the personal stories of the women associated with the brand.

HISTORY Founded in 2019 by seven women who have experienced domestic violence, LA.B is a brand dedicated to reintegrating these women into society through employment. Each handmade bag features a red thread, symbolizing the unique journey of each woman.

Using buffalo skin, the women have developed skills to craft leather accessories, with the buffalo symbolizing strength and power in their community. LA.B's mission goes beyond fashion, representing the resilience of women overcoming adversity.

RENDERED AXO VIEW

Organic shaped rock to represent the skin of the buffalo they use for each bag.

Circular pedestals are utilized to individually highlight each bag in the collection, emphasizing the handmade design and ensuring proper display.

Travertine partitions serve to symbolize the connection between the brand and Italy, while also creating spaces for the placement of the red string.

Positioned above the popup, the red string provides customers with a view into the atrium where the pop-up is situated.

Circular ottomans contribute to establishing a circulation pattern for customers.

The red string provides a stark contrast to the rugged travertine partitions, enabling customers to peek inside the pop-up shop. Additionally, it serves to showcase the most significant symbol of the LA.B brand.

CONCEPT STATEMENT

LA.B is a brand that was created to empower women all over the world who have suffered from gender violence. The pop-up shop will be open and spacious for all types of clients to enjoy the space comfortably while empowering women who share similar stories. The space will provide comfortable seating areas, as well as partitions that have thread detail to represent the harmony and bond between each and every woman’s story. Lastly, there will be a mixture of neutral colors and textured surfaces to not distract from the bags but instead enhance their design.

AMES CO-LAB OFFICE DESIGN

PROJECT NARRATIVE Our assignment involved converting a compact office space into a dynamic environment that caters to individuals requiring diverse workspaces for productivity. I crafted the design, incorporating a kitchenette, a spacious entrance, smaller tranquil workspaces, and an upstairs lounge. Utilizing SketchUp and Photoshop, I fashioned a distinctive and atmospheric setting tailored to enhance the work experience for office occupants.

SCHOLASTIC ART AWARD - 2019 SILVER MEDAL Initially, the model existed as a portrait drawing. Subsequently, it underwent a transformation using a recycled piece of wood and was carved out with a laser cutter. I then applied paint to the wooden surface, repurposing it into a stamp.
