4 : Example-4: Preparation of 1-Pentyl-1H-indazole-3-carboxylic acid [0019] Sodium hydroxide (3M, 30 ml) was added to a solution of Methyl 1-pentyl-1H-indazole-3-carboxylate (7.26 g, 0.0295mol) in methanol (100 ml) and the solution stirred at room temperature for 3 hours. The solvents were removedin vacuo and the remaining aqueous solution was extracted with diethyl ether (50 ml) and then acidifed to pH 1 using3M HCl. The aqueous layer was extracted with EtOAc (3x 100 ml) and the combined organics layers were dried oversodium sulphate, filtered and concentrated in vacuo to give (7.38g) of 1-Pentyl-1H-indazole-3-carboxylic acid.
