The ASCAP Foundation is dedicated to nurturing the music talent of tomorrow, preserving the legacy of the past, and sustaining the creative incentive for today's creators through a variety of educational, professional, and humanitarian programs and activities, which serve the entire music community.
Dear Friends of the Foundation,
2024 was a year to remember!
At The ASCAP Foundation, we were making important strides through our fundraising and programmatic efforts. We honored the legacy of the late ASCAP composer/lyricist Jerry Herman through an estate auction and reception. We launched the In Her Voice Scholarship to uplift women and female-identifying songwriters through our Music For All Scholarship Initiative. As part of our Children Will Listen program, we brought 50 students from the Philadelphia School for Girls to see the new Broadway musical Hell's Kitchen with songs from Grammy-winning ASCAP member Alicia Keys…and Alicia herself recorded a personal message for the students to enjoy!
Year after year, we are committed to ensuring that music creators of all ages, from all backgrounds, are given the opportunities and support they need to achieve their full potential. While we have programs for everyone, The ASCAP Foundation has a special focus on children and students, because music education is sadly lacking in too many American schools.
Our goal remains the same: to instill a love of music in young students and give them the tools to make music themselves. So, when they get older, they can write the songs, scores, and symphonies that move the world. Even if they do not become professional musicians, young people deserve to let their talents shine.
In the pages ahead, you will see how your belief in the next generation of emerging creators is changing lives. And, if you received support from the Foundation through an award, scholarship, or workshop, we wish you all the best in your musical endeavors!
With hope and gratitude,
Paul Williams Board President, The ASCAP Foundation
Nicole George-Middleton Executive Director, The ASCAP Foundation
