Position Summary:
The American School of Bombay (ASB) seeks an innovative and collaborative Middle School Mathematics Teacher to join our international community of educators The teacher will design and deliver engaging, inquiry-based math instruction aligned with AERO Common Core Math Standards, fostering problem-solving, conceptual understanding, and creativity Using a culturally responsive and student-centered approach, the teacher will support the academic and social-emotional growth of young adolescents while contributing to a positive, inclusive school culture
Your Responsibilities at ASB:
Teaching and Learning:
● Deliver inquiry-based mathematics instruction that builds conceptual understanding and critical thinking
● Provide appropriate scaffolding while encouraging independence, multiple strategies, and mathematical reasoning
● Use culturally responsive practices to value diverse perspectives and ensure equitable learning experiences
● Integrate digital tools to enhance engagement, modeling, analysis, and collaboration
● Design opportunities for students to collaborate and communicate mathematical ideas
● Adapt instruction to meet the developmental needs, learning preferences, and prior knowledge of each student
Curriculum and Planning:
● Design relevant, real-world learning experiences that promote student voice, choice, and agency.
● Align units and assessments with AERO Common Core Math Standards and school curriculum expectations.
● Create interdisciplinary learning opportunities with STEAM and other subject areas.
● Document curriculum, assessments, and resources using school-supported platforms.
Collaboration and Professional Responsibilities:
● Engage in ongoing professional learning, coaching, and reflective practice.

● Collaborate with colleagues to align curriculum, share strategies, and analyze student learning
● Contribute to team, divisional, and school-wide meetings
● Model professionalism, integrity, and ethical conduct
Student Wellbeing:
● Lead a grade-level advisory to support students’ social-emotional development and sense of belonging.
● Build positive relationships with students and families to support learning and wellbeing.
● Supervise students during breaks, transitions, and lunch to help maintain a safe, caring environment.
● Chaperone students on experiential learning trips, including the Week Without Walls program.
● Lead or support co-curricular activities that enrich student learning and school life.
Who We’re Looking For? The ideal candidate will bring:
● Bachelor’s degree and relevant teaching certification
● Minimum three years of math teaching experience in a K–12 accredited school
● Strong understanding of adolescent development and inquiry-based math instruction.
● Experience integrating digital tools and STEAM connections into math learning.
