ՏՆՕՐԷՆՈՒԹԵԱՆ ԳՐԱՍԵՆԵԱԿԷՆ 2014-2015 կրթական տարեշրջանին գրեթէ 2 ամիսը բոլորեցինք։ Այս տարին յատուկ նշանակութիւն ունի մեզի համար, որովհետեւ 2 կարեւոր առիթներ պիտի յիշատակուին այս տարուան ընթացքին։ Առաջինը՝ դպրոցի հիմնադրութեան 30 ամեակն է, իսկ երկրորդը՝ Հայոց Ցեղասպանութեան 100 Ամեակը ։ Այս երկու կարեւոր առիթներուն համար արդէն իսկ յառաջացած են յանձնախումբեր։ Ծրագիրներ կը մշակուին եւ մեծ պատրաստութիւններ կը տեսնուին։ Ամէն ամսուան 24ին առաւօտեան աղօթքէն ետք, 8րդ կարգի աշակերտները կարճ ներկայացում ունին ցեղասպանութեան 100ամեակին նուիրուած: Հոկտեմբեր ամիսը Հայ Մշակոյթի ամիս է. Հայ Քոյրերու Վարժարանը մեծ շուքով կը տօնէ զայն։ հայ Լեզուի ուսուցչուհիները յատուկ աշխատանք կը տանին, որպէսզի աշակերտները արժեւորեն մեր հարուստ մշակոյթը ։ Մեր ժրաջան ուսուցչական կազմը եւ աշակերտները լուրջ աշխատանքի պատրաստուին դիմակալելու հետագային զիրենք սպասող մարտահրաուէրներուն։

Մեր այս տրուան նշանաբանն է՝ «Ձգտիլ լաւագոյնը կատարելու»։ Կը Խնդրենք Ծնողներէն որ միշտ յիշեցնեն իրենց զաւակներուն այս գեղեցիկ նշանաբանը, աշակերտներու պարտաւորութիւնն է գործել այս ուղղութեամբ։ Մենք կը հաւատանք, որ կրթական գործին մէջ՝ ծնողք-դպրոց համագործակցութեամբ կատարուող աշխատանքն է որ լաւագոյն արդիւնքները կու տայ, որոնք միաժամանակ կը սատարեն աշակերտին յառաջդիմութեան։ Շնորհակալութիւն սիրելի Ծնողներ ձեր համագործակցութեան ոգիին.: Մաղթենք որ այս տարին արդիւնաբեր եւ յաջող տարի մը ըլլայ։ Ք.Լ.

Dear Parents, You can make a real difference in promoting a positive learning experience for your child, both at school and at home! As your child’s first and most important teacher, you play an important role in his or her future success in school. Here are three ideas that can help support your child’s learning: 1)Be an example. Reading: Be a reader and let your child see you read. Read to your child or with your child. Go to the library together. Your child will see how important reading is to you and will want to copy what you are doing. Your education: Continue your own education. Remain curious about learning new things. Your child is watching you! Educational opportunities: Have educational resources in your home such as books, maps, globes, and computers. Be alert to teachable moments that might appear at any time, and take advantage of those opportunities to help your child learn. 2) Support school rules *Rules and procedures: The beginning of a new school year is a great time to review rules together. * Home and classroom rules: Talk about home rules you have made that will support your child’s learning. Believe it or not, children actually like rules that help create an atmosphere where they can learn better. Rules provide predictability and routines that are valuable assets for learners. 3) Be available: * Parent helper or field trip helper: Even parents with the busiest schedules can find some way to contribute the class. Make a special effort to attend school open houses and activities. * Parent-teacher conferences and communication: Take advantage of these opportunities to stay informed about your child’s progress at school. Developing a strong, positive relationship with the school will help support your child’s school success!

ASA’s 30th Anniversary On Sunday, January 25, 2015, our school will be hosting a gala celebration at the Palladio Banquet hall in Glendale. The 30th Anniversary committee has been working diligently since July to make this event a memorable celebration of our schools 30th anniversary. Monday, October 9, 2014, administration, teachers, staff, students, members of the Parents’ Auxiliary, Advisory board, athletic committee, wore their yellow t-shirts with pride and joy at the morning assembly to kick off the celebration . “We are proud of our accomplishments for the last 30 years, we have come a long way. We are fortunate and grateful to have a beautiful campus, caring administrative staff and, most of all, dedicated teachers. In January ASA celebrates a big birthday as it turns 30 years old, and we will sing Happy Birthday.”

Donation Gift Beautifies our School Sidewalk As you may have noticed, our Mira Vista sidewalk, just north of our parking lot, has been converted from a barren patch to a lush garden of plants and flowers, fully equipped with new sprinklers. This sidewalk beautification project became a reality through a gift of members of the Khalatian family who decided to honor the memory of their late father Jirair Khalatian, who passed away earlier this year. Our school’s Advisory Board member, Naris Khalatian-Bethel, says that her father loved the Armenian language and history; and beautifying an Armenian school was the best way they could think of, to honor him! The new patch of greenery on Mira Vista will be named the “Jirair Khalatian Garden.” On behalf of the school, the sisters would like to thank members of the Khalatian family for their generosity. Our beautiful sidewalk is a gift not only to our students, families, and staff but also to our neighbors and our community. May our new garden be a source of inspiration and joy for all! NEWS from FIRST GRADE 1A and 1B are off to a wonderful school year. The students have completed several academic units for language arts and mathematics and have been successful with their weekly Spelling Tests. In Social Studies, the classes have been focusing on the family, communities and Community Helpers. To enhance this unit of study, the first graders visited the Montrose Fire Station on Thursday, October 2nd. By visiting the fire station, students will gain first-hand information and knowledge to enhance their classroom studies. We had a wonderful time visiting with our local heroes!
Վերամուտի օրեր Աշխուժութիւնը ուրախութիւնը եւ կարօտը արդեօ՞ք այս երեք բառերով կարելի է բացատրել «Վերամուտ» բառը։ Բայց երբ դպրոց մտայ զգացի թէ ճիշդ էին այդ բառերը եւ աւելիով։ Արդէն մէկ ամիս անցաւ մեր այդ սպասած օրէն եւ մտերմութիւնն ու աշխատանքը հեզասահ իր հունին մէջ մտաւ։ Ոպէս երկար տարիներու ուսուցչուհի եւ դաստիարակ Հայ Քոյրերու Վարժարանէն ներս, ուր կը զգամ որպէս իմ երկրորդ տունս կը մաղթեմ 2014-2015 տարեշրջանը ըլլայ յաջողութեան եւ անվտանք տարի մը բոլորելու իրենց հիմնադրութեան 30 ամեակը։ Վարձքերնիդ կատար առաքինազարդ քոյրեր, ուսուցչական կազմ եւ յարգարժան ծնողներ։ Օր.Մարի Թիւթելեան

The Great California Shakeout The Great California Shake-out is an annual opportunity to practice safety in the event of earthquakes. The shakeout has also been organized to encourage schools to review and update emergency preparedness plans and supplies we also work on procedures to minimize our school injuries. On Thursday, October 16, at 10:16 am. we will practice our earthquake drill with members of our staff and students.

Հայ Քոյրերու Վարժարան Հայկական Ցեղասպանութեան նուիրուած միջոցառումներ
Ութերորդ դասարանի աշակերտները ամէն ամսուայ 24ի առաւօտեան power point »-ի միջոցով պիտի ներկայացնեն արեւմտահայաստանի գրաւուած հողերէն մէկ նահանգ, իսկ տարբեր դասարաններ իրենց մասնակցութիւնը պիտի բերեն նոյն նահանգի տարազները ցուցադրելով, երգելով եւ արտասանելով պատշաճ արտասանութիւններ կամ երգեր: Այս ծրագրին առաջինը տեղի ունեցաւ Սեպտեմբեր 24ի առաւօտեան եւ պիտի շարունակուի լման այս տարեշրջանին:
Լ.Գանտիլաեան Եօթերորդ դասարանի Բանջարանոցը Եօթերորդ դասարանի աշակերտները միասնաբար թուբեր ցանելով ունեցան իրենց փոքր բանջարանոցը, զայն նուիրեցին Մեծ Եղեռնի զոհուած բոլոր մեծ-մեծ հայրերուն եւ մայրերուն, ապրեցնելով անոնց յիշատակը մեր հոգիներուն մէջ եւ մեր ամէնօրեայ կեանքի ընթացքին: Եօթերորդ դասարանի բանջարանոցը ծրագրուեցաւ Հայերէն դասապահուն, որուն մղիչ ռւժը եղաւ դասարանէն Ռիթա Քէօշկէրեանը: Բոլոր աշակերտնրու խանդավառ մասնակցութեամբ թուբերը ցանեցան՝ դասարանի դիմաց գտնուող պարտէզին մէջ: Շնորհակալութեամբ կ’ուզենք յիշել որ այս ծրագիրը նիւթապէս հովանաւորեց Բժշ.Ծովինար Քէօշկէրեանը: Ցանելու աշխատանքներուն օգնեց դասարանի ծնողքներէն՝ Տիկ.Սեդա Պոյաճեանը: Վստահ եմ որ մեր բոլոր նահատակներու հոգիները ուրախ կը սաւառնին այս փոքրիկ բանջարանոցին վրայ :

ASA 7th and 8th Grade STUDENTS PARTICIPATE IN JOHN HOPKINS UNIVERSITY TALENT SEARCH ASA 7th and 8th graders will participate in the John Hopkins university talent search that conducts national and international talent searches to recognize academic talent.

dents who achieve at the 95th percentile or higher on one or more areas (math, language, composite score) on the nationally normed test IOWA test are eligible to participate. Eligible students for the 2014- 2015 search are:

We are Noy and Vem Chatoyan two brothers ages 12 and 10 who created SMILES IN A BOX: Since the world is broken and so much bad is happening all over, we made these smiles to brighten up every person's faces and hearts. We created these unique happy faces, which we carved, painted, and designed them with our own hands. We started this project towards the end of summer of 2014, and started selling them in front of our parents store in Montrose, Ca. So far, we have sold well over 150 smiles. They are sold for $2.00 each; half of every sale goes to St. Jude Children's Hospital. We have already collected a considerable amount from everyone's purchases and the extra generous donations that they have contributed. We would like to continue bringing smiles and joy to people's faces and hearts and to be able to donate money to St. Jude's in order to help the children in need.
