A cloud–based interface aimed at advising and mediating one’s specific needs & requirements.
In our clausura assignment, we vaguely proceeded with the topic of digital avatarism that we had the opportunity to delve into during the semester, this time attempting to employ its potential within the common grounds of UMPRUM/AAAD as a new form of ritual activity.
What spiked our interests was the current state of the ‚mailbox of confidentiality‘, a small box-shaped object meant to act as an intermediator dealing with sensitive matter amongst academia members. As we do believe it bears a significant element of importance, we also deem its existence, strongly adherent to a particular position within the realm of physicality, to be somewhat insufficient, specifically due to a surge of social anxieties in our contemporary society.
We reached out to the university ombudsperson in order to discuss possible means of transformation or reconfiguration of the aforementioned mailbox as we intended to further its purpose by conceiving digital overlaps. We proposed a web system, a new digital interface as such, with a goal to offer various stages of help/care at various degrees of anonymity.
The architecture of the app enables its users smooth transitions between AI advisory, a virtual database of past or current inquiries and personal mediation via video, voice or text messages, all the while ensuring that coveted levels of discretion are guaranteed.
Esentially intertwined with the university online communication system, the interface would be devoid of any customized notifications, primarily notifying its users via already existing e–mail addresses, thus aiming for a smaller amount of stress–inducing pop–up windows and much broader inclusivity that would be further supported by an amoebic physical structure made of acoustic panels, furnished with soft & haptic materials to evoke a feeling of privacy/safety, and equipped with an adequate electronic device capable of running the Cumulus programme.
