BRANDING AND FEATURES
Analysis and Inference
The site is away from the central hub of the city and is commonly reached via NH66. Trivandrum Intl. Airport and Thampanoor Railway Station are both almost 15 km away and are reached via NH66. Vizhinjam Port, Vizhinjam International Port, and Adani Port are all closer in proximity to the site and are only about 1 km away from the site.
Replacing the traditional lobby with the "living room" concept allows guests to gather at the bar, providing a distinct experience different from traditional hotels, especially when combined with the adjoining boutique.
W Brand's swanky bars, lounges, and trendy in-house restaurants have a strong appeal to a younger crowd. The hotel also offers fitness centers and Bliss and Away detox centers, promoting the #Detoxtorefox concept.
In-room Jacuzzi suites can significantly enhance and differentiate the guest experience, leading to improved room rates and repeat traffic.
The hotel provides both outdoor and indoor spaces to host parties, concerts, ramp walks, and fashion shows, showcasing the culture and couture of Kerala.
W aims to create a platform that combines a taste of contemporary chic with Manish Malhotra's designs, capturing an epitome of royalty and subtlety.
There is a variety of slope gradients on site, ranging from very steep (<1:6) to relatively flat land (>1:20). Here is an equal abundance of walkable and drivable slopes that can be utilized to make walkways, driveways, etc. Most flat areas are towards the center of the plot.
The relatively immediately water collection
middle of the site, however, contains a relatively flat portion which comes immediately after a steep slope where water could stagnate. Proper drainage and collection systems must be put in place.
The first three floors follow the same form and have almost the same circulations, whereas the typical floors are V-shaped.
SPACES
The ground floor consists of the boutique and the banquet space for the guests. It also includes back-of-house (BOH) areas, parking, and other services.
The first floor leads to all the dining and concert hall located above the banquet area. BOH facilities and parking are also provided on this floor.
The second floor features the spa, beauty parlor, sauna, detox to retox center, specialty restaurant, and the pool area.
The top five floors comprise the typical guest spaces and suites, extending towards the end of the V shape.
Such a form allows the structure to complement the site because of its narrowness. To provide a view to the beach from the hotel, an A-like shape has been given so that the slant provides the maximum visual experience.
Restaurant adjoins the pool area, with most of it glazed to provide the best experience regarding the view from the restaurant.
The pool is designed in a way that it appears to blend with the sea, creating an exciting and memorable space.
