Guardians
by Jill Bergman
In the dim starlight and cooling breeze, Night is our guardian.
She tracks the moon phases, the constellations, and the nocturnal creatures.
She sends out the moths, and the bats to do their night business.
She lays a quilt of blacks and blues over those who are sleeping.
She whispers dreams into our ears, and holds our plans for tomorrow.
When Day approaches, the guardians trade notes under a dawn sky.
Night takes her leave on owl’s wings, and Day wakes us once again.

Rocky Mountain Summer
by Jason Santucci
Majestic Peaks rising all around me
Capped with ice and snow
A place my heart feels free
And surely my mind is soon to follow
Streams full of trout run clear and blue
Tumbling down from high above
Their icy beauty is so true
I open my arms to embrace their love
Overwhelming in a wonderful way
Bringing a tear to my eye
Beauty strikes the day
As clouds of cotton go drifting by
Fields of wildflowers dance in the breeze
A rainbow of colors blurring my sight
Saying to me “stay if you please”
For in this time and place, everything is going to be alright
