POETRY by Elaine Dermody
WILDERNESS Give me the Wilderness the rain and the hail So you get a little wet or the stove may fail But it doesn’t matter how I look or if my hair’s a mess There is nowhere to go no fashion contest I’ll dry when the sun comes out and a cold meal is no big deal I come for the solitude, the beauty and how it makes me feel Where knowing the flowers and herbs and fish in the streams Is more important than day to day cares at least that’s how it seems Where my spirit soars to the mountain peaks And my heart seems full of the love that it seeks
Last One Out of the Nest, by Gael Fetcher
Give me the wilderness away from crowds and T.V. Where the hand of Mother Nature is hopefully all that I see Where the birds sing and the wildflowers bloom And to commune with nature there is plenty of room Aah, to see the deer with their gentle grace Or to meet a brown eyed doe face to face These are the moments in time that feed the soul When I’m one with the world part of the whole When aches and worries vanish in space And a peaceful calm resides in their place
