OUT THERE The wild has the power to heal. Africa is one of those few places where

humans can feel truly small, truly insignificant and truly oneself.

February 22–28, 2023, ROAR AFRICA and world-renowned poet and philosopher, David Whyte partner to offer a journey to the Segera Retreat in Kenya where the elements of water, fire, air and ether will be woven together by David’s poetry in an experience designed to rewild and relax the soul.

This specific safari is a pursuit of wild spaces within and without. The journey is “a vibrant and grounding space to galvanize a deep listening to the wisdom of the body and its connection to the land; where exploration of human potential is discovered through the integration of mind, body, heart, and spirit. All in a pristine environment connecting you to the frequency of life, a deeper wisdom, new perspectives, and inspiring ideas as people reflect and reconnect their collective poetic attention,” said ROAR AFRICA’s founder and CEO, Deborah Calmeyer.

Deborah grew up on a farm in the Zimbabwean bush as part of a pioneering family that has a 330-year plus history in southern Africa. When she began leading safaris, she did it as a way to open her home and her heart to others. The result is a safari where every need is anticipated and met before spoken. “We show our guests just how to gaze into a sky so undisturbed by the shock of city lights it feels akin to falling into the infinite, the source, the original force. Africa runs like an artery through me—it’s in my blood,

my pulse. I am able to translate these magical, deeply spiritual journeys for others, allowing travelers to discover the world’s truly untouched, remote places first-hand while impressing upon them that this is not only an experience to be consumed but also an essential healing for them, for humankind, and for the relationship between the wild and ourselves, and even within ourselves.”

David’s words and ideas stir the soul and awaken parts of humanity that have been forgotten or pushed aside. He does so with such simple yet profound concepts they are apt to shatter the walls people build around themselves to reveal the true beauty inside each human being.
