ARHITEKTUURNE PROJEKTEERIMINE STUDIO PROJECT IV - 01.2017-05.2017
Arhitektuurne projekteerimine IV Kursuse põhieesmärk oli projekteerida esimene avaliku funktsiooniga hoone. Kursuseprojekti teema (muusikaloome keskus) andis võimaluse arhitektuuriõpingute alguses teadvustada ning kriitiliselt mõtestada arhitektuuri ja arhitekti rolli ühiskonnas. Keskuse projekteerimine oli ühtlasi sissejuhatuseks järgnevatele programmiliselt ja ruumiliselt keerukamatele kursuseprojektidele. Parema ettekujutuse saamiseks arhitektide vahelisest koostööst töötasid üliõpilased väikestes, 2-liikmelistes gruppides. Tudengitel oli projekti käigus vaja integreerida sisu ja vorm ühte selgelt väljenduvasse ideesse. Projekt oli 2. kursuse tudengite jaoks oluline selleks, et omandada oskusi ruumiliselt sünteesida vastuolulisi lähteandmeid ja nõudeid ning näha arhitektuurset tervikut; osata eristada olulist vähem olulisest. Ühiskondliku hoone projekteerimine võimaldas tulevastel arhitektidel kasutada erinevaid arhitekti tööks vajalikke tehnilisi oskusi ning arendada ruumilist kujutlusvõimet ja kriitilist analüüsioskust.
Studio project IV The main goal of the course was to design the first building with a public function. The topic of the course project (music creation center) provided an opportunity to become aware of and critically interpret the role of architecture and the architect in society at the beginning of architecture studies. The design of the center was also an introduction to following more programmatically and spatially complex course projects. Students worked in small, 2-member groups to get a better idea of the collaboration between architects. During the project, students needed to integrate content and form into one clear idea. The project was important for 2nd year students in order to acquire skills to spatially synthesize conflicting source data and requirements and to see the architectural whole; be able to distinguish the important from the less important. The design of the public building enabled future architects to use various technical skills necessary for the work of an architect and to develop spatial imagination and critical analysis skills.

Semestri alguses külastati Rummu alevikku ja koostati tausta-analüüs. Selle tulemusena pani iga grupp kokku keskuse ruumiprogrammi. Pärast korrigeerimist ja täiustamist jääb semestri alguses kokku pandud ruumiprogramm aluseks kursuseprojektile. Seejärel läbiti kõik projekteerimise iseloomulikud faasid ideest detailsete joonisteni, võrreldi alternatiivseid variante ning vajadusel pöörduti tagasi varem tehtud valikute korrigeerimise juurde. Lõpuks töö vormistati hindamistel välja kujunenud tavale vastaval tasemel. Tudengid esitlesid oma ideid vaheülevaatustel ning tutvustasid projekti hindamisel.
Tulemus
Kursuseprojekti läbimine andis tudengitele oskuse paigutada keskmise keerukusega avaliku funktsiooniga hoone konkreetsesse asukohta. Samuti rikastas projekt tudengeid mitmete teiste oskuste võrra nagu näiteks võrrelda ja enesekriitiliselt hinnata alternatiivseid ruumilisi ettepanekuid ning valitud kontseptsiooni ja ruumilist ideed edasi arendada. Projekteerimise käigus kasvas tudengite võimekus väljendada lähteülesandes püstitatud sotsiaalseid, kultuurilisi ja majanduslikke eesmärke ruumilise meediumi kaudu (kontseptuaalne makett, töömakett, hoone skeem).
Assessment
At the beginning of the semester, the small town of Rummu was visited and background analyzes were prepared. As a result, each group put together a room program for the center. After adjustment and improvement, the room program compiled at the beginning of the semester remains the basis for the course project. Then all the characteristic phases of the design were followed - from the idea to the detailed drawings, the alternatives were discussed and, if necessary, corrections were made in the previously made choices. In the end, the work was finalized at the appropriate level developed in the evaluations. Students presented their ideas during the mid-term reviews and introduced them during the project evaluation.
Result
Passing the course project gave the students the ability to place a building of medium complexity in a specific location. The project also enriched students with a number of other skills, such as the ability to compare and self-critically evaluate alternative spatial proposals and the ability to further develop the chosen concept and spatial idea. During the design process, the students’ ability to express the social, cultural and economic goals set in the initial task through the spatial medium (conceptual model, work model, building scheme) increased.

Kannel Simmel Kontseptsioon
Rummu karjäär on mahajäetud karjäär Harjumaa maakonna loodeosas Vasalemma vallas, kus kaevandati kunagi paekivi. Karjääri teeb huvitavaks ka vee selgus ja läbipaistvus, seetõttu otsustasime paigutada hoone vee alla. Seadsime omale eesmärgiks luua ühtne loomemaja lauluja tantsupeolistele, kus nad saaksid teha laagreid ning proove suurteks pidustusteks. Ülemaalise laulupeo idee algatajaks ning ürituse läbiviijaks oli lauluselts “Vanemuine”. Vanemuise kuju on kasutatud kunstmuistendites ja Kreutzwaldi “Kalevipoja” algusvärssides -- “Laena mulle kannelt, Vanemuine...”. Sellest seosest tuleb ka vihje hoone kandlest inspireeritud kujule.
Concept
We decided to make a building for the choirs that participate in the Estonian Song and Dance Festival. The facility would be a place for young people to rehearse the songs and choreography. This would be the place where they have overall choral or dance rehearsals. The place can also be used for different concerts, since we are planning to make two areas for them to be held. One is going to be outdoor concert area and the other is going to be a concert hall. We decided to place our building in the water, beacause we were so charmed by the clarity and the beautiful colour of the water there. We also liked the underwater world, which is grown mossy over the years. We also had an idea of bringing in the daylight through the water, so that it would have a unique sensation.

ÜRMÜR ÜRMÜR Kontseptsioon
Meie idee on vahetada elurajoon tehnopargiga, tagades meeldiva ning looduslähedase keskkonna. Asetaksime tehnopargi Murru vangla ning Haapsalu maantee vahele. Rummu aleviku ühiskondlikud hooned suunaksime vangla renoveeritavatesse ning paremini säilinud hoonetesse. Kasutame ära varem ehitatud hooned, kuid nende otstarve ei jää liiga isiklikuks. Rummu vangla uue aleviku selgrooks jääb endiselt küll vana müür, kuid nüüd on see uue muusika internaatkooli südameks. Kooli iga hoone saab alguse tagasilükatud müüri betoonpaneelidest, millest moodustub uue hoone fassaad. Maja kasutab veel puitu ja klaasi, vee alla jäävad puitpaneelidega kaetud teraskonstruktsioonid.
Concept
Our idea is to swap the residential area and the technology park, ensuring a pleasant and natural environment for residents. We would place the technology park between Murru Prison and Haapsalu Road public buildings. We would relocate the hub from Rummu to the buildings that are being renovated and better preserved. We take advantage of the previous buildings, but their purpose does not remain too personal. The backbone of the new town of Rummu Prison is still the old wall, but now it is the heart of the new music boarding school. Each building in the school starts with the concrete panels of the discarded wall, which form the facade of the new building. The house also uses wood and glass, the underwater parts are steel structures covered with wood panels.

POJAK POJAK Kontseptsioon
Muusikakeskus toetab muusika loomise protsessi, pakkudes muusika loomiseks tugiteenuseid ja aidates inspiratsiooni ammutada. Keskus kõnetaks ka kuulajat ja pakuks talle nii meelelahutust, avastamist kui ka muusikalisi kogemusi. Oleme koondanud keskusesse erinevates keskkondades paiknevaid salvestusüksuseid, mida on seejärel võimalik artistide poolt rentida. Need võimaldavad eraldatust loome- ja salvestusprotsessi ajaks, pakkudes tehnilisi võimalusi, tuge ning lihtsustades artisti loomeprotsessi. Publik saab kogeda erinevaid muusikalisi eksperimente, mis koonduks ühte muusikalisse teaduskeskusesse ning samuti ekstensiivset kuulamisvõimalust muusikakogust. Külastajale on orienteeritud ka sise- ja välilava ning toitlustus- ja meelelahutusteenused.
Concept
The Music Center supports the music creation process by providing support services for creating music and helping to draw inspiration. The center would also speak to the listener and offer him entertainment, discovery and musical experiences. We have centralized recording units in different environments, which can then be rented by artists. They separate creative and recording process, provide technical capabilities, support, and simplify the artist’s creative process. The audience can experience various musical experiments, which would be concentrated in one musical research center alongside a vast collection of music. Both stages as well as catering and entertainment services are oriented to the visitors.

Külaliskriitikud Visiting critics ANDRES OJARI ANDRES OJARI on arhitekt ja arhitektuuriteaduskonna dekaan. Lõpetanud Eesti Kunstiakadeemia 1993. aastal, on ta siin olnud õppejõud juba pea 20 aastat. Alates 2012. aastast on Andres Ojari arhitektuuriteaduskonna professor ja kureerib magistristuudiote tööd. 2017. aasta juunis valiti Andres EKA arhitektuuriteaduskonna dekaaniks. 1994. aastal asutas ta koos Markus Kaasiku ja Ilmar Valduriga arhitektuuribüroo 3+1 arhitektid, mille koosseisus on osaletud edukalt nii avalikel kui ka kutsutud arhitektuurivõistlustel. ANDRES OJARI is an architect and Dean of the Faculty of Architecture. Having graduated from the Estonian Academy of Arts in 1993, he has taught here already for almost 20 years. Since 2012, Andres Ojari has been a professor at the Faculty of Architecture coordinating the work of MA studios. In June 2017, Andres was elected as the dean of the faculty. Together with Markus Kaasik and Ilmar Valdur, he established the architecture office 3+1 in 1994 that has seen him successfully competing both in public and invited architecture competitions.
MARIKA LÕOKE MARIKA LÕOKE on arhitekt. Arhitektuurialase kõrghariduse omandas ta Eesti NSV Riiklikus Kunstiinstituudi arhitektuuriteaduskonnas aastatel 1970–1975. Ta on töötanud projekteerimisinstituudis EKE Projekti arhitektina ning 1990. aastast arhitektuuribüroos Okas & Lõoke. Marika Lõoke on Eesti Arhitektide Liidu liige aastast 1979 ning kuulub liidu juhatusse. MARIKA LÕOKE is an architect. She acquired her architectural education at the Faculty of Architecture of the State Art Institute of the Estonian SSR in 1970–1975. She worked as an architect in the state design bureau EKE Project and since 1990 she has worked in the architecture office Okas & Lõoke. Marika Lõoke has been a member of the Estonian Association of Architects since 1979 and she is also a member of its board.

Juhendaja Supervisor PEETER PERE PEETER PERE on nii arhitekt kui ka kunstnik. Arhitektuurialase kõrghariduse omandas ta Eesti NSV Riikliku Kunstiinstituudi arhitektuuriteaduskonnas aastatel 1975–1980 ning diplomi saamise järel töötas kuni aastani 1993 projekteerimisinstituudis Eesti Tööstusprojekt. Hetkel on ta juhtivarhitekt omanimelises arhitektuuribüroos. Peeter Pere on Eesti Kunstnike Liidu liige alates 1990 ja Eesti Arhitektide Liidu liige alates 1994. aastast, sealhulgas 2010–2014 EALi esimees. PEETER PERE is both an architect and an artist. He received his architectural education at the Faculty of Architecture of the State Art Institute of the Estonian SSR in 1975–1980 and worked at the state design bureau Eesti Tööstusprojekt until 1993. At present he is a senior architect in the architecture company bearing his own name. Peeter Pere has been a member of the Estonian Artists’ Association since 1990 and a member of the Estonian Association of Architects since 1994, including its chairman in 2010–2014.

Eesti Kunstiakadeemia (EKA) arhitektuuri ja linnaplaneerimise osakonnas koolitakse tulevasi arhitekte, kes on võimelised praktiseerima kõigis arhitektuuri ja linnaehitusega seotud valdkondades. EKAs saab õppida arhitektuuri ja linnaplaneerimise integreeritud erialal, soovi korral maastikuarhitektuuri spetsialiseerumisega, ning urbanistika magistriõppekaval. Arhitektuuri kõrval on õppekava tähtsaks osaks linnaehituse ja maastikuarhitektuuriga seotud distsipliinid, lisaks omandatakse teadmisi filosoofias, kunstides, inseneri-, sotsiaal- ning keskkonnateadustes. Õppeprotsess nagu ka õpitavate ainete nimistu on äärmiselt mitmekülgsed ja eeldavad tudengilt kiiret kohanemisvõimet, oskusi nii kitsamaks uurimuseks kui erinevateteadmiste ja oskuste mitmekihiliseks sünteesiks. EKA arhitektuuriosakonnas õppimise põhieelis suurülikoolide ees on väikesed õppegrupid ja individuaalne mentorlus erialaprofessionaalidelt kogu õppeaja vältel. Arhitektuuriteaduskond kannab hoolt, et tudengid väärtustaksid jätkusuutlikku projekteerimis-, planeerimis- ja ehitustegevust, parendades elukeskkonda ning säilitades ja arendades erialast pärandit ja oskusteavet.

The aim of the Department of Architecture and Urban Design of the Estonian Academy of Arts (EKA) is to prepare future architects for all areas related to architecture and urban construction. The programmes include the combined curriculum of architecture and urban planning with the possible specialisation in landscape architecture and also the MA curriculum in urban planning. In addition to architecture, the curriculum is strongly related to the disciplines of urban design and landscape architecture with extensive knowledge provided in philosophy, arts, engineering, social and environmental studies. Similarly to the list of subjects, also the study process is highly versatile thus requiring adaptive ability and skills to conduct both specific research and more comprehensive synthesis of various skills and knowledge. The main advantage of the Faculty of Architecture of EKA over large universities lies in the small size of study groups and individual supervision by top specialists throughout the study programme. The Faculty of Architecture makes sure that students would appreciate the sustainable design, planning and construction activities to improve the environment and maintain and develop the professional heritage and know-how.
