The harsh and dreadful pandemic had hit the world not only physically but also on a mental level It brought a huge and violent tide into the normally smooth and flowing wavesoflife.Thecloseddoorsofthehouses also became a metaphor for restricted minds for creative people like Edcel, who earlier used to move around in wide open areastoletthecreativityflowin.Ratherthan being captured by this confinement both physically and mentally, Edcel went a step ahead with his heart and soul, getting prepared for the transition from camera lenses to canvas brushes, from pixels to paintings, from capturing still pictures in frames to letting the pictures in his mind movetothesurfaceofcanvas

Even during such a dynamic transitional phase,EdcelLaRosaCabalanstayedtrueto one of his basic principles in creating art: thatitalwayscomesfromtheheart, andthe samegoesforthemanifestationofthefreeflowing expression of artistic imagination and emotion in every stroke. This manifestation is truly depicted in his radiant paintings.

SushrutaChetan'sArtworks Show:HowNatureBecomesA HealerForTheHumanMind

Nature is a source of endless fascination for artists and a wonderful backdrop for the imprintingofprogressiveideasfromthenew aesthetic language and trends. In the past, artists would frequently imitate nature in their studios, using these models as inspirationforsomeofthemosticonicworks of art. Impressionism, an avant-garde trend, inspired painters to paint outside in natural settings Nature served as the inspiration for significant discoveries that forever altered the nature of art by examining the changing lightandresearchingtheperceptionofcolor. When artists get inspired by nature, they createanotherinspirationontheircanvas.

Today, weshallexploretheartisticinspiration of Sushruta Chetan that led her to create some of the most breath-taking artworks andhowherworksfunctionashealersofthe humanmind.

Nagpur native Sushruta Chetan reveres nature and its processes. For her, nature is a healer In her quest for a higher purpose, she took refuge in nature, seeking answers Travellingtothecountryside, shefoundaconnectionwiththedrydeciduouslandscape that changes its hues and form as the seasons go by She has discovered that it is limitlessandalwaysshifting. But,ifonelooksattentively, onecanfinditfathomableeven thoughitispresentinitsseeminglycomplexform.Inthisseemingchaos, hercuriosities drovehertofindpatternsthatallowedhertofindasenseoforder.Throughthishealing journeycameforthsomeofthemostbreathtakingartworks.

These artworks try to capture nature’s varied forms and the inherent hidden order. In her works, Sushruta creates realistic portrayals of grasslands, forests, swamps, riverbanks, wildflowers, etc., in an attempt to respond to the natural world around her. But she doesn’t merely transfer the visual memory butattemptsaswelltorecreatevariedtexturesthatpiquedher emotions evoked by the scene. She uses tinted charcoal and ink by building up layers of tones and textures to portray the dryness of a dry bushy forest. However, she also creates oil works using the Alla Prima method; sometimes she works en pleinair, andothertimesphotoreferencesfromherownnature expeditions are used. Most of the nature artists, like Sushruta Chetan, quiteoftenusethesubjectoflandscapeintheir paintings. The term "landscape" first appeared as a term for a painting in 1598 It later entered the modern English language as landskip (variously spelled), an anglicization of the Dutch word landschap, at the beginning of the 17th century. Within a few decades, it began to be employed as a phrase for actual viewsandtoexpressvistasinpoetry.

There are some artworks that provide an instant flow of strength and inspiration.Fromthis, itcanbeinferred that the artists who created such works are epitomes of power and strength themselves. In this modern era, where females try to move away from their feminine side instead of protecting it, there are other females who actually understand and appreciate the feminine beauty and strength. A woman becomes more beautiful and attractive when she is in herfeminineaura.

Ononehand, peopleusesoftnessand calmness as metaphors for feminine terms, butontheotherhand, thereare certain artists who show how the term "feminine"alsostandsforstrengthand inspiration when looked at closely and appreciatedintherightway.

ArtisticandSpiritualFusiononCanvas: RoomaEejaz'sJourneyThroughDiverse Cultures

What is that one thing that makes you transcend into another world? For some people, it is music; for others, it is traveling; for some, it is writing; but for artists, it is putting their heart and soul on the canvas. Some artists may paint out of passion, while others may do it as a profession. There are yet others who paint for their spiritual elevation and move into a completely different zone that transcends this materialisticworld.

Todayweshallexplorethediversifiedjourney of Rooma Eejaz, whose experience with multiple cultures has added more to this spiritualelevation

Rooma Eejaz is a Dubai-based artist with a multicultural background who has traveled the world and been influenced by diversified cultures in her artwork Her passion for painting started as a hobby and slowly turned into an obsession that she pursued with devotion. Although she graduated in English Literature and qualified from The Writing School of London as a writer, her artistic streak enhanced with the passage of time. This shift of focus from one form of art to another is common among creative people Butbeingconstantlyengagedwitha singleformofartshowsone'sdedicationand persistence towards that particular form of art.

NadiaAdamenko:An ArtistWhoLostand FoundHerPassionFor ArtAgainAfterYears

"Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up."~ Pablo Picasso. Pablo, through this quote, shows how a child's confidence in their creativity dwindles as they grow up. This usually happens at the end of the grammar stage, when children develop critical thinking and the ability to compare things. At this point, their focus shifts from creation to perfectionism. The joy of creating fades away gradually, giving rise to frustration that comes from the thought of reaching a perceived standard. The seed of creativity needs to remain in an environment that gives it the proper nourishment for growth. But as children grow and engage with different tasks in their lives, the gap between them and creativity slowly but steadily keeps getting wider and deeper.

Nadia Adamenko is an artist who also had the same experience with art and creativity. But unlike other people, even after growing up as an adult, she had the confidence to dive back into the world of art and discover her true passion. Born and brought up in Russia, Nadia Adamenko moved to the UAE in 2013. Drawing used to be her hobby during her childhood days. Her last day at the art school was also the last time she touched the brushes or painted for the next 21 years. It was only in May 2021 that her mind was flashed with the thought of giving herself one more try. After buying and putting all the necessary things together before her, she felt that sudden flow of enthusiasm and excitement within her. This was also followed by a sudden regret for living so many years without these brushes and colours. But then, she had finally found her passion! Working with different styles and techniques, she has never stopped learning and creating something new. Her personal favourite technique is to mix different techniques such as acrylic paint, texture paste, gypsum, epoxy resin, mirror art, stones, crystal rock, golden leaf, crystals, etc. She also shows an interest in making portraits with Swarovski crystals and covering any surface with crystals. Her creativity also takes her towards making different styles of candles.
