Elegance and comfort are the guiding principles in interiors designed by Christophe Decarpentrie. He stepped into the world of interior design by lending his artistic talents to friends in Antwerp who had a passion for contemporary art. He then moved on to designing the decor of older homes, bestowing them a more contemporary feel, a touch of freshness and shafts of light—homes equally beautiful by night as by day. Among Christophe Decarpentrie’s most noted projects are the luxurious LeCrans Hotel in Switzerland and the Paris 2000 Biennale des Antiquaires for whom he designed the full concept and layout of the Carrousel du Louvre. The Belgian designer traces his passion for objects to his childhood, when he learned to appreciate all forms of beauty engendered by Nature or produced by man. Mr. Decarpentrie advises his clients to express themselves freely, to tap their inner emotions so as to create a home that will generate spiritual wellbeing. He does not favor the spectacular nor the futile in interior design. When asked to offer a definition of beauty, Christophe Decarpentrie answers: “It is that which simply feels right”.
