THE CONTAINER PROJECT
EXHIBITIONS TUES 23 – SAT 28 AUGUST
WELCOME POSTER PROJECT WED 17 – MON 22 AUGUST Artist Sumiko Eadon from Leicester Print Workshop will work in collaboration with refugee artists from Leicester City of Sanctuary to explore the theme of WELCOME and produce a collaborative poster design. The Container will become a pop up printmaking studio where you can screenprint and take away your own copy of the poster!
The Container Project will become an informative exhibition space for the final part of this project. Volunteers from national refugee support charity City of Sanctuary will be on hand to talk about the reality of the refugee crisis and debunk myths. Forming the backdrop for these discussions will be the Zimbabwean Association’s exhibition ‘12 years’, detailing stories and oral histories of Zimbabwean asylum seekers in the UK. Alongside this, a selection of documentary photographs from Belarus Free Theatre will be on show - as we welcome the World Premiere of their new production Burning Doors to the Curve theatre.
