President cites beautiful progress on building, campus construction
By Joseph Peduzzi, President and CEO
Excitement is in the air among Beaumont’s residents, family members and staff as we near completion of our first section of our comprehensive Campus Enhancement Project. When I asked Bette Peterson, a Beaumont Retirement Community Inc. Board member, what she thought of the finishes, she stated, “it is even more beautiful than I thought, and I can’t wait until my Villa is completed." A construction committee comprised of residents and management vetted and selected the architect and general contractor and approved the initial design considerations. Keeping the goal of a unified architectural theme in mind, they emphasized cost containment, and the selection of high-quality construction materials to minimize future maintenance expense. The finishes selected are a combination of cultured stone, vertical board and batten and horizontal cement fiber board. The design will visually unite the mansion with the other buildings on our wooded campus. And the high quality, low maintenance materials will ensure construction value for decades to come. As with any construction project, you learn a lot with the completion of the first section. The design team and engineers worked diligently on timely solutions to address the situations uncovered. Even though these findings have extended the period of construction by six months, we are still well within our $23 million dollar budget with a healthy contingency remaining. I am also very pleased to announce two very enthusiastic new residents of our community, Marion Laffey Fox and Beverly Wilson, who have kindly stepped up to the challenge of being Editor and Assistant Editor, respectively, of the Beaumont News. These two ladies have known each other for years prior to living at Beaumont as they have both served as Park House Guides for the Philadelphia Museum of Art. The Beaumont News has been in existence since 1987 and its readership consists of residents, Future Residents
