Year 12

May –September

Start researching your university and course choice

It’s important to start your research early! There are thousands of courses available across hundreds of universities in the UK. Look at websites, attend Open Days and visit a UCAS event to see what’s on offer.

Year 13

September –

January

Start applying! You can begin submitting your applications to up to five universities between September and January, using UCAS.

January

Initial deadline to submit your UCAS application.

February (to June)

Apply for Student Finance (see page 184)

April

Apply for your place in accommodation (see page 16)

May Universities respond to students who have applied You will either be given a conditional offer, an unconditional offer, or no offer. If you receive no offers, you can enter UCAS Extra and apply to courses at universities that still have vacancies.

August

Results Day and confirmation of your place –congratulations! If you don’t get the grades you expect, or you change your mind last minute about which course you want to study, Clearing is an option.
