Showcase the impact and importance of information systems to the UK and global digital economy.

This professionally accredited degree is designed to develop your knowledge and expertise in the analysis, development and application of socio-technical systems, with a deep understanding of the importance of information technology and computing in society.

You will be exposed to the state-of-the art theories, technologies and research and will gain a solid grounding in the theoretical foundations of information, technology and systems applied to modern business environments.

You will begin by developing your fundamental programming skills and move on to apply these skills on webbased applications. Broadening options will address the design of information systems for global business, data and knowledge management, multimedia and interaction, marketing, strategic management, cyber security and business intelligence.

Your future

• Real world experience can be obtained by completing an optional sandwich year placement or industrial internship. Over the past few years, our students have been successful in obtaining placements in nationally competitive schemes with Microsoft, HP, General Electric and the Met Office.

• Graduates can operate as software developers with an understanding of the critical importance of business information systems to global commerce.

• Career opportunities will be available across both the traditional IT and telecoms sector, digital/ creative industries, financial and professional services, management consultancy and across the wider public sector.

• Professionally accredited by BCS, The Chartered Institute of IT, meaning graduates can fulfil part of the criteria to achieve Chartered IT Professional (CITP) status.

Course length: 3-5 years full-time, dependent upon taking a foundation year (see page 92) and/or yearlong sandwich placement

“During my second year, I secured a yearlong placement at South Wales Police as an intern developer. This real-world experience was invaluable. I engaged in several on-going projects, provided support and led my own projects to improve
