At the Cardiff School of Technologies, our degrees are designed to prepare you for a career shaping the future of technology.

From day one, you will be encouraged to adopt a growth mindset, strengthening your ability to learn autonomously and providing you with the computational thinking, real world analysis, modelling and engineering skills you need to succeed in an evolving digital world. You will be taught by both academics and practitioners in the fields of computer science, business IT, cyber security, electronics, gaming, and robotics, who will provide insights into their research and enterprise activity. Our network of industry experts brings specialist knowledge and best practices to the classroom through guest lecturers, interactive workshops, and providing real-world problems for assessments. To strengthen the bond with employers, you will have the opportunity to gain industry experience . You can complete a year out on placement or take part in our practical industrybased Hackathons. Our students have been successful in obtaining work placements in internationally competitive schemes with Microsoft, HP, General Electric, IBM, the Home Office, CGI, South Wales Police and the European University Institute in Florence, Italy to name a few.

Additionally, we work closely with our international academic partners to offer students opportunities to study and work abroad. These include exchanges and International Weeks that focus on Robotics, Drones, Gaming, Data

Science, Mobile Development and many other areas of computing. You will be able to use your skills and knowledge within an international context and work with students from all over the world.

Furthermore, many of our programmes are integrated with professional certification contents such as SAS, Tableau, Cisco and Certified Ethical Hacking (CEH), to give you an edge in today’s competitive job market.

Technologies facilities

Our newly developed Cardiff School of Technologies is home to a series of specialised learning spaces and industry standard facilities designed to help you put theory into practice.

Designed to facilitate hands-on training, our high-spec labs cover all aspects of technology – from games programming and extracting insights from data using AI, to sophisticated robotics and the programming and development of controllers for the Internet of Things. You will be able to work collaboratively in our flexible open learning areas and gain experience with industry-like scenarios in a positive environment.

Our specialist spaces include:

Robotics Labs

Our Robotics Lab is closely integrated with the EUREKA Robotics Centre. It offers access to over 30 specialist robots, humanoid robots and robotic arms, as well as advanced AI, AR, robotics and 3D printing kits and software.

Computer Security

Our complete Cisco cyber security lab will enable you to learn industrystandard tools and techniques and gain hands-on experience in networking, penetration testing, security testing and IoT.

Electronic Systems

Our Electronic Systems Lab offers an immersive experience with software and instrumentation covering the full range of electronics, automation and autonomous system techniques and applications.

Games Lab

Our Games Lab will support you with motion capture, mobile and console development kits, enabling you to work on game projects targeted at different hardware platforms.

Virtual Reality Spaces

Our VR booths have been designed for you to explore VR within a safe space, immersing yourself into the virtual world using VR headsets, green screen and other technologies to support you on your journey through the world you create.

Data Science & AI Lab

Our Data Science and Artificial Intelligence Lab will hone your practical skills with high-spec machines and equipment capable of running complex data visualisations and machine learning.
