Typical modules*
We are proud to have adopted the CORE economics curriculum, which includes recent developments in the subject and a problem-motivated approach to learning economics.
The strength of our Economics degree is the clear emphasis on application and critical understanding and we work closely with industry, including the Government Economic Service, to ensure that our curriculum is in-line with industry needs.
You will gain real-world experience and develop your employability with a compulsory work placement as part of the second year. Students have previously completed placements at organisations such as Deloitte, Hargreaves Lansdown and the NHS.
The degree is based on several compulsory modules over the three years of study, that include:

• Microeconomics and Macroeconomics
• Contemporary Issues in International Political Economy
• Industrial Economics
• History of Economic Thought
Options in years two and three will allow you to develop your expertise to meet your specific interests and prepare you for your future professional or academic career.

• Our Economics degree delivers excellent career prospects with Economists in high demand in both the private and public sector as managers, researchers, analysts and strategists.
