Most people travel to the valleys of heartache or endure the eye of life’s tempest before they can emerge with songs that grip the human experience; but Nathan Brumley went hiking. Following high school, he spent his formative years as a contractor building recreational trails to high mountain lakes and fishing parks in the heart of the Rocky Mountains of Idaho. He’s previously had 2 publishing deals with Embassy Music and Brandon Hills Publishing and has completed his 5th full length album. He is currently the second place winner in the USA Songwriting Competition and was voted best 14 acts of the Southeast by Discmakers 2007.His music is clearly remindful of piano banging crooners like David Gray, Ben Folds Five, and Gavin Degraw. In addition to that, Nathan is a writer for the Songs Of Love Organization which writes customized songs for kids with terminal illneses. He has had 3 songs picked up by Warner Brothers Telepictures Music and was the artist of the month with them in March 2009-also the same month that he had a hold with “Grey’s Anatomy.” Nathan was also a second place winner in the 2009 Music City Songwriting Competition, is on a rock compilation ablum called “The Next Big Thing In Rock”, and was rated #17 in the college market in 2009 for his album “Where You Move Me.” He has also been featured on Nashville’s Lightning 100 new artist spotlight in July 2009. O1W aka Only 1 Way is an urban gospel group from Detroit, MI consisting of three members. Each member uniquely express their love for God the Father and of HIS only begotten son Jesus Christ of Nazareth through forms of singing, dance, and rap.

O1W was birthed from a prophecy during a youth service held at their home church of Hope Evangelical Ministries in the spring of 2003, after performing in front of the congregation, Reverend, Dr. Kevin L. Young immediately stood and witnessed to each of them by sharing the vision that God gave him. Telling the young men that they were “called of God to the youth of the nations” and also that they were to be “totally set apart”, then giving them the name “Only 1 Way” Soon after he began to groom them for ministry, teaching and developing each member that talent alone wasn’t enough, but it was going to be the anointing that would destroy the yokes and change lives. As instructed by the Holy Spirit, he carefully shaped, molded, and equipped each member of the group with the wherewithal to fulfill all that God had in store for them to accomplish according to the prophecy. O1W has since gone on to travel across the country spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ through their music, videos and performances. They have received 5 DMA Nominations (Detroit Music Awards) and 2 ROG Music Awards Nominations (Rhythm of Gospel Music Awards) and winning song of the year in 2011 with IMA (Independent Music Awards) along the way. In the summer of 2010, O1W released the studio album “BREAKTHRU” which featured the hit songs “I Get It In”, “Ready 4 Whateva”, and “I Am”. With a radio friendly style, unique sound, dynamic and anointed lyrics and powerful message, Only 1-Way is definitely going to be the next big thing and a force to be reckoned with in music and ministry for years to come.

Deana was raised in a Christian home. Her father was a pastor from the time she was 6 years old. Deana began to sing in the church at the age of 5 and was leading worship at the age of 8 years old. Many children her age wanted to grow up to be a nurse or a teacher, but Deana always wanted to be a part of a music ministry. At age 8 she came home from school one day, and with no previous musical training she opened the hymn book and began to play an old hymn called “Trust and Obey” on the organ – she truly had a musical gift from God. Through high school Deana had a tug toward music that would not go away. She enhanced her gift with musical training. She graduated from Master’s College with a B.Th., attended Abbottsford Bible School music program, and travelled with various music teams. Deana’s excellence was rewarded with a music scholarship. Deana studied music every opportunity she had, including Toronto’s Royal Conservatory.
She is presently a worship leader at Bethel Church in Stratford, Ontario, Canada. Deana lives and breathes to worship God, and it is her desire to see people radically changed through praise and worship. Many children her age wanted to grow up to be a nurse or a teacher, but Deana always wanted to be a part of a music ministry. To record an album has been one of Deana’s greatest dreams. Her life’s experiences with pain, abuse, trauma, but also healing and forgiveness, have led Deana to deal with it the best way she knew how, and that’s through writing music. This first Album “For your Glory” is a testimony to Deana’s perseverance and dedication to God in the face of pain and disappointment. God has shown himself to be Deana as being a constant friend. Her desire is to glorify God with every word of this album. To learn more about Deana visit…Deana

In the words of The Reliques, “Music is a shortcut to the soul.” With each new EP, the folk duo weaves stories that cut straight to our commonplaces, stories each of us have seen played out in our own lives and communities. Making music gives Sarah Dossey and Sarah Monteen the space to be honest about their life experiences. Says Dossey, “We want to be transparent with our music and write songs that stir hearts. We want to impact our community in Austin, to grow with them and tell their stories.” Pronounced “relics”, the band grew out of a friendship that began at the University of Texas. The first EP, Peacock Wood, is a five-song introduction to the band’s heartstrings. The songs seamlessly blend Monteen’s strong, smoky voice with Dossey’s nightingale sweet soprano and attests to years honing their timing and musicianship. Following the release, the band was featured on KISS FM-96.7 and The River 102.3, won The River’s Austin Artist Showcase, and have appeared on the front pages of The Daily Texan’s DT Weekend and Austin Christian Family Magazine. In Dec. 2010, they were featured on News 8 Austin’s “Songs of the Season”. In an April 2009 issue of the Daily Texan’s DT Weekend, editor Francisco Marin, writes: “These sirens of Texas folk make music spilling over with intimacy and real emotional gravitas…The Reliques’ sound is immediately recognizable: the lilting sound of Dossey’s mandolin over Monteen’s acoustic guitar, overlapping vocals reminiscent of Fleetwood Mac, the sparse arrangements chug along, trainlike and persistent.” Collectively, their musical influences range from Mumford & Sons to Paul Simon and even include such female vocalists as Jewel and the Dixie Chicks. The Reliques have opened for nationally touring acts Shane and Shane, Phil Wickham and Derek Webb. Their live show is where The Reliques really shine, rotating adeptly through several instruments and matching each other’s voices in strong, sure harmonies. Their newest EP was recorded by Caedmon’s Call’s own Josh Moore. To Feel and Be Loved is a lively jam session featuring a cavalcade of eclectic instruments such as mandolin, banjo and accordion in addition to electric and acoustic guitar. The six songs live up to Dossey and Monteen’s storytelling aspirations. Whether heartbreaking or resounding this new creation is alive with stories which tumble out one after another, wrapping around guitar strings and bursting forth triumphant, raw and gleaming, belted out in waves of carefully constructed lyrics. Though they are the ones spinning tales on their guitar strings, both girls urge their fans to find their own meanings in the songs – so what was a song of loss can transform into a song of empathy and encouragement. They hope to take that “shortcut to the soul” to “build people up amidst all the realities of life, whether it’s the joy or sorrow of life.” Says Monteen, “We do music because it’s in our souls and we can’t help but do it. This is what God has put in us— we just hope when the music hits people they are stronger because of it.

Cover Story

“All the words, they are my fingers on a face Oh, the words, looking for patterns in the shapes You’re so good to be a witness to my sounds Trying to frame the clouds…”

THE SHORT STORY I was a highly moody teenager once upon a time. One day I sat down at the piano but instead of practicing scales, I found myself writing my first full-length song. It was called “The Silent Rusty Flute” and had nothing at all to do with my own life, but it wasn’t actually horrible. More importantly, it was an INCREDIBLY gratifying and joyful experience. Writing music helps me process what I’m learning and experiencing and witnessing . And it gives me a way to voice Truth as I understand it, which I believe we all want desperately. Home was the Army all my growing years. Now I live with my family in North Carolina. I came kicking and screaming, but it’s grown on me. Beyond my own writing & life, I am passionate about the work of Masterpiece Ministries (www.masterpieceministries.org). Masterpiece is about mentoring young artists of faith, encouraging them toward

creative excellence and Christ-centered living. For 10 years now, I’ve served for one week of the summer alongside other artists of various mediums, facilitating workshops for creative high school students. It’s just plain good. For me, music was the first thing in life I just felt great doing. Later, when I discovered songwriting in high school, it was—admittedly--about self-expression. Cheap therapy. Now, it's many things. Fun. Expression…yes, there is me in there. But more to the point—I hope—my heart is in the attempt to articulate the elusive things of life. Common things. Extraordinary experiences. What we can touch and what we can only wonder about. Questions. I have so many questions. I have wondered at times what room there is for me in the village of musicians…surely, everything that needs to be said has already been written and sung. Surely, others with greater technical skills are out there doing it. But the past few years have taught me that all of that really doesn’t matter, because we all really need each other to continue telling the stories and speaking truth from our unique vantage points. There is only one me. And only one you. And you and I need each other to write and sing and paint and speak and build. Extended Bio (for the super curious): Christa wrote her first full-length song at the age of 15, but showed her interest in music when she was about one year old when she hummed the alphabet song in pretty good tune. Which pleased her mother very much. A few years ago she came across her very first recording: a cassette tape with her seven-year-old voice creating melody lines for nursery rhymes she’d found on the pages of a Mother Goose book. Like the GarageBand recordings she puts together today, they were simply produced but conveyed the essence of an artistic spirit, expressing life in lyrics and melody. Few things are more satisfying to Christa than sifting words into phrases and pairing them with music so that ideas and emotions become common places among listeners. After years of playing piano and singing in church and school music programs, she finally attempted to write her own music and was thrilled to discover a creative outlet that was truly compelling for her. Her method was untrained and totally her own when she arrived at Anderson University, Indiana, in the fall of 1991, where she took English literature and music classes, including Gloria Gaither’s songwriting course, which contributed to a more solid understanding of the writing process. Throughout those years, Christa wrote her own music while singing back-up for others and performing other writers’ music in a band called Same Rain, which she and some college friends had formed together. She then married fellow Anderson alum Toby Wells and moved to Nashville, Tennessee, eventually leaving Same Rain and heading east to Raleigh, North Carolina. But under the influence of gifted writers such as Natalie Merchant, Over the Rhine, Patty Griffin, and Sheryl Crow, she was unable to resist the pull of her grandmother’s old piano in the living room and continued to build her own catalog of original songs. In the fall of 1999, a conversation with a successful songwriter in Nashville led her to the decision to focus on songwriting rather than performance and make that her vocational aim. She began co-writing with her sister, Mandy Rogers, and with Tiffany Arbuckle Lee (Plumb), hoping to expand her skills and find a publisher who would see the potential in her songs and represent her in the industry. Providentially, in autumn 2001, her friend Jeremy Lee of FlatRock Management, began to talk with her about his vision for some of her songs. Jeremy was ready to champion her songs within the Nashville music community, despite Christa’s geographical distance. With Tiffany Arbuckle Lee (Plumb), Christa co-wrote two songs ("Real" and "Go") for Plumb’s album, Beautiful Lumps of Coal, as well as “Day by Day” which was a number one single released by Point of Grace on their album “24.” “Real” was the first single released from Plumb’s album. In 2006, Christa was recognized for her song “Held,” released by Natalie Grant on her “Awakening” album, and named Songwriter of the Year by the Gospel Music Association. 19

Other songs include “Me” co-written with Plumb for her lullabies album, “Bring It All Together,” co-written with writer/producer Shaun Shankel and “Our Hope Endures,” co-written and recorded by Natalie Grant (an upcoming single from the album Relentless). In addition to writing for signed artists, Christa and her sister, Mandy Rogers, independently released a full-length album of original music in 2006 entitled “A Rogers/Wells Project: so much to tell you.” The project, which includes Christa’s recorded version of “Held,” has opened doors for the sisters to perform their own music and share the stories behind the songs. In the last two years, they have performed together and individually in several states, as well as other venues such as Studio B television broadcast and a sold-out round at the infamous Bluebird Café in Nashville, Tennessee. In 2007, Christa was involved with an effort to raise funds to benefit military families through AFF (Armed Forces Foundation). Her song “Before the Tree Comes Down”, a tender tribute to our servicemen and women and their families, spawned the idea for Hope Christmas Ball in Raleigh, North Carolina, and to contribute to the cause, Christa produced a Christmas EP to be given to donors of the event. Lisa McClowry, Chicago-based singer and songwriter, also recorded “Before the Tree Comes Down” and released it worldwide online, with proceeds donated to AFF. At this time, Christa lives with her family in North Carolina, writing and sharing her music locally, as well as traveling to Nashville periodically to write and record. She is also committed to ongoing work with Masterpiece Ministries based out of Lebanon, Tennessee--whose mission is to provide summer camps for young artists, encouraging them toward excellence and Christ-centered living. I’ve been doing this a long time and I know God is about to do some awesome things.”

Within the Church of God in Christ (COGIC) denomination, Chrystal Rucker is a household name. Over the last decade and a half, she’s made her own spine-tingling renditions of Judy Garland’s “Over the Rainbow,” Tramaine Hawkins’ “Changed” and Lecresia Campbell’s “Safety” fan favorites at concerts and convocations within the church. However, the EPM Music Group is about to take her national with her debut CD release,” You Deserve” (EPM Music Group), hitting retail and online stores everywhere on June 26, 2012. As America prepares to meet Chrystal Rucker, the country is also about to learn about the power of faith to heal. In spring 2007, Rucker suffered a series of strokes that almost killed her and could have ended her singing career. She had just picked up her niece and nephew from school and was driving them home. “My arm just went numb,” she recalls as she was driving. “I looked in the rearview mirror. I was talking but my mouth on the left side wasn’t moving.” She made it home and was planning to lie down when her mother insisted 21

that she go to the hospital immediately. Rucker as examined at the hospital where the doctor said that the CT exam showed no abnormality. Her mother didn’t believe the report so she took Rucker to another hospital where she was administered an MRI that showed that she’d experienced a stroke. “The doctor said I should have sued the first hospital,” she recalls. She was put on blood thinners and scheduled for therapy when she had another stroke while at the hospital. She was in intensive care for a week. “I taught myself how to drag my leg until I got to where I needed to be,” she remembers. “I got some strength from somewhere and I looked at my daughter and I knew she needed me so I fought so that I could be here to help her grow up. When you have someone you have to live for it makes all the difference in the world in your healing process.” That healing took place over two long years where Rucker had to relearn how to walk and do things for herself. She had no other income but music so she pushed herself back out onto the concert circuit, often dragging her leg to get around and then she says that she was miraculously healed during the annual Rhema conference at Pastor David Martin’s Gospel Tabernacle Church in Dallas, TX. “A lady turned around and started to pray for me,” Rucker recalls. “She didn’t even know what I had been through nor that I was sick because I hid that from people. The Holy Ghost came in that night and it was amazing. The whole church was on its knees before night was over and that’s when my healing came.” That personal trial taught Rucker a valuable lesson. “Everything that happens in life is not designed to take you out,” she confesses. “There are things that God has to do to make us better so he broke me down only to help me so that I could help somebody else.” Rucker’s enlightened thinking stems from the teaching she learned as a child in Kansas City, MO. The youngest of six children, her father was the late Bishop C.N. Rucker of Greater Holy Temple COGIC and her mother, Yvonne Rucker, is an evangelist. She sang her first solo at a church banquet when she was two years old and has been singing ever since that time. In spite of her singing ability, she planned to make teaching her career. She enrolled at the University of Missouri at Kansas City with a double major in English and Music. However, at the age of twenty-one, she became pregnant and says, “that changed a lot of things for me.” She eventually left school and got a job as a clerk in the accounting department at an electronics store while continuing to sing on the weekends. The singing led to solos on CD recordings by Edwin Hawkins, Jerome Greene & the Voices of Triumph and Myron Williams. These songs led to more concert dates where Rucker began sharing her testimony of having a baby out of wedlock and how God helped her pull her life back together as a young mother. “My schedule had picked up so much that I couldn’t keep a job,” she laughs, looking back at that turning point in her life. “Dorinda gave me major, major exposure within the COGIC,” Rucker says of the legendary Clark Sisters alto, Dorinda Clark Cole,” who is an executive officer within the COGIC music department. So, it’s this great favor that led the union of Rucker with EPM Music Group. EPM Group founder, Earnest Pugh, first saw Rucker sing at Grammy Award winning choirmaster O’Landa Draper’s funeral in the summer of 1998. “That’s when I became a fan,” he says. When he launched his label in 2012, one of the first names he thought of signing was that of Chrystal Rucker. The set is going to feature studio versions of Rucker’s now classic concert showstoppers “Changed” and “Somewhere Over The Rainbow.” However, the inaugural radio single will be the soul stirring praise and worship ballad, “You Deserve.” Rucker is excited about the future and the expansion of her musical ministry. “People are going to be blessed by the CD,” Rucker adds. “I believe lives are going to be changed and people are going to be delivered from the project alone. It’s not because of my ability or anything I can do personally but God is going to get the glory from this project because it’s going to reach people who are hurting. I’ve been doing this a long time and I know God is about to do some awesome things.”

Stephanie Newton's debut album on Creative Soul Records, Fairytale Life, reveals an artist who's not afraid to talk about the ambiguities of everyday life, while proclaiming faith in a God who cares about every detail of our lives. "As a modern woman, I struggle with juggling the responsibilities of wife, mother and career. I think most women can relate to that. As I view all my roles through the lens of my faith, I realize I'm constantly striving to know God's purpose for my life and to understand how I fit into His plan," says Newton. The songs reflect this faith journey by exploring the travails of a suburban mom in a sometimes light and humorous way. Cuts such as Keeping Up With the Joneses and Fairytale Life reveal a wry sense of humor, while underscoring spiritual truths. It's the recurring theme of the album that Newton jokingly calls "desperate Christian housewives." Sincere ballads and worship songs round out the selections eliciting a response of smiles one moment and tears the next. "In daily trial or deepest need, You are there surrounding me. I see glimpses of Your face. I'm wrapped up in Your warm embrace. As You send me these moments of grace." "For this project I definitely wrote from my heart. It's a snapshot of my life. One minute I'm frantically making peanut butter sandwiches and changing diapers, the next minute my girls run up to hug me and I'm awed by how good God is. And then there are the moments that are hard, the moments when just putting one foot in front of the other is a real struggle. I admit my faith can falter at those times and I wonder if God is there. I wanted to write with honesty about all those moments, knowing that every one is infused with His grace." Producer Eric Copeland who also co-wrote several of the songs on the album saw real promise from the first time Stephanie came to Nashville. "I knew there was something different here," says Copeland, who is also president and founder of Franklin, TN-based Creative Soul Records. "The first time I heard "Moments of Grace", I knew Stephanie not only had a knack for writing a powerful song, but that this fresh perspective of a modern stay at home Christian woman, trying to keep a house and children in today's world was a powerful ministry." Let’s hear from Adele‌ Hello. What is your name ? How long have you been involved in the entertainment business? Adele Morgan over 20 years When did you know that you wanted to be in this business and what was your motivation? I always wanted to be a singer since the time I was a little girl. I didn't get into the professional aspect of it until I won a vocal contest and won a trip to Nashville. After meeting with record Execs and labels, I realized that I wanted to continue my career on my own timeline and decided to be an Independent Artist. Who has helped you along the way and inspired you the most? I used to travel with my grandfather here in Alaska to rural churches and play and sing when he preached. Members from my church helped me with my first recording. My daughter has always been the wind beneath my wings, encouraging me to continue to sing and write songs. Our local Christian book store owner and local radio...since then there have been so many both Nationally and locally that have helped get my music and message around the world. What are some of the highlights of your career so far? Flying my band out to a remote village on the Yukon River and doing a concert for the Athabaskan Indian people. We did the concert in a the village Bingo Hall. Singing for several thousand people in North Ridge, CA when I was the National Spokesperson for Medtronic Diabetes. Speaking and singing in the small towns in South Africa. I did a worship conference for several churches and also got to help out in the Joe Slovo Settlement by singing and sharing the gospel to 100s of children. Have you received any special awards or achievements? I won a few songwriting awards in Alaska and vocal singing contests. Do you have any special events, shows / gigs coming up? I am currently writing and recording a Children's CD project...which is hopefully going to be released this summer. It's called Dance and Dream. I have a gig this Friday May, 3rd a family concert to raise money for a little girl that is dealing with cancer. Where do you see yourself in the next 5 or 10 years? Still doing what I love, writing, speaking and singing. I hope to be doing more speaking engagements for women's conferences. What would you like your legacy to be? I would love my legacy to be that the music and the message was more important to me than the money and notoriety. Do you have other interests? What services does your company offer? I'm an advocate for children and work with World Vision as an Associate Artist. I also am a spokesperson for Diabetes and try to encourage those who deal with it to live healthy and contributing lives. I love sports...I love to watch and play sports...my favorite to play is Tennis and Volleyball. I also love the outdoors, especially since I live in Alaska, it's so wonderful to live and play in God's beautiful creation. I help young artists with their careers by vocal coaching and career coaching. Any special words of encouragement or advice for our readers? Do everything you do as unto the Lord. Find both your natural gifts and your spiritual gifts and bloom where you are planted and the Lord will direct your steps.

The newest release from contemporary Christian, singer/songwriter E. Pettersen is now available on the Lovesongs, Ltd. label. It has been called a collection of inspirational, contemporary Christian originals from easy-listening to the power and emotion of a rock-opera. From the inspirational opening track "Ground Zero," which received national exposure on the Don Imus show, to the final cut "Where's The Change?" which will have fellow Christians searching their pockets and their hearts, Pettersen will both entertain and intrigue the listener with his infectious hooks. The CD pays tribute to heroes of all kinds. The American soldier of World War II, in "The Mission"...the amazing and seemingly tireless workers at Ground Zero in the song of the same name, the Lord Himself in "Held By Love"...fathers, in "A Walk in The Park" and other inspirations he has met in his daily walk. Involved in Christian music since the age of seventeen, Pettersen has always wanted to write and produce a solo project. The Mission isn't only the title of the album, it's the embodiment of what this effort has meant to him as it has come together. "I really wanted to inspire the listener to look at themselves and the world around them in a whole new way with this album" he says , "I pray that there's something in this collection to inspire everyone who listens." Tyde Moore consists of husband and wife Christian songwriters, David and Krista Moore. "Tyde" is actually Krista's middle name, but David likes to say, "she stole my last name, so I stole her middle name for the band." They use the term "band" loosely as the duo features other artists on recordings made for release of songs written by them. They are currently working on two projects, one of which will be released by the artist who is co-writing with them. The other will be released by Tyde Moore featuring a very special artist, not yet to be named. It's big though so... let the speculation begin! ( By the way, David is also a writer for the Oakland Examiner and the exclusive PR Representative for Dreamin’ Out Loud Entertainment artist Katelyn McCarter. ) Currently the band only has one release, "Because You First Loved Me (feat. Lori Hall)." The couple releases their music commercially for three reasons: 1. To bring glory to God (So, you won't see secular music from this group.) 2. They want fans to hear it, without need of consent from industry gatekeepers. 3. They are hoping to gain interest from other Christian artists who might want to perform their music; and again without consent from industry gatekeepers. This plan actually did garner interest from one artist, Rev Randy Farmer has a version of Because You First Loved Me released, it's titled, "I Love You Jesus." The group has session files of their music available for artists who would like to perform them, but cannot afford full production of a version made from scratch (Or have other reasons for not being able to fully produce a new version.) So, write this e-mail address down if you're an artist and if Tyde Moore makes a future release you want to record, but can't afford... send them an e-mail for details and to get the needed files: TydeMoore@gmail.com To artists interested in Tyde Moore's files should note: this will not be possible if you're under an exclusive agreement with another record label for future releases... if that's the case you can rerecord a new version and release it under your current record label, without need to contact Tyde Moore; just put the proper songwriting and publishing credits.
