The 23rd Biennale of Sydney: rīvus opens in March, and we’re proud to have exclusive coverage in our March/April issue. We have an inspiring interview with renowned American artist Kiki Smith, an exploration of UK duo Ackroyd and Harvey, and a look at the role of Indigenous collectives in the Biennale. We also speak with artistic director José Roca and curator Anna Davis about how the Biennale came together, and their decision to have ‘participants’ rather than ‘artists’. Alongside this we have Rex Butler on Elvis, Cher Tan on Amrita Hepi, and Julie Ewington on female artists today.
