ean-Claude et moi, nous nous sommes connus sur le circuit du Mans l’été 1992 en participant à la première manche du Trophée Venturi, un concept clef en main inventé par Stéphane Ratel, un colonel d’empire qui faisait ses premières armes dans l’organisation des courses automobiles. Dans cette formule monotype inédite ferraillaient, au volant d’une automobile de 408 cv, en particulier la fine fleur de la jeunesse aristocratique européenne (pour la frime je nomme: Nino de Cecco, Rocky Agusta, Goerg Von Opel, Carl Edouard Von Bismark, Ferdinand de Lesseps…), des pilotes professionnels 106
pigistes (Jean-Pierre Jarrier, Olivier Grouillard, Michel Ferté…) et des gentlemen drivers, en tout 70 furieux dont je me borne à citer ceux avec lesquels j’ai formé un équipage aux 24 Heures du Mans 1994-95 ou 98, Jean-Luc Maury-Laribière, Bernard Chauvin, Eric Graham. Ce concept ProAm fut à l’origine du renouveau de la catégorie GT et de son second âge d’or. Pour ma part, reprendre la compétition à plus de 50 ans avec un palmarès jauni par 10 ans d’interruption me faisait redouter une rouille mortifiante. Aussi apercevant Jean-Claude Miloé lors de cette manche inaugurale, je repris espoir :

I limit myself here to naming my teammates in the 1994 - 95 and 98 Le Mans 24 Hours, Bernard Chauvin, Eric Graham. This new ProAm concept was behind the revival of the GT class, giving rise to its second golden age. For me, to take up racing again at the age of over 50, with a record yellowed by a ten-year interruption, caused a dread of mortifying rust. Then, seeing JeanClaude Miloé in this inaugural round, hope was restored: "At least there is someone with more «bottle»
