Another “Red Letter” Day! There are lots of ―Red Letter‖ days in the next few weeks. There are those ever so important days when students have to take an exam. Then there are the days those exam results are published later in the year. For sports fans, the ―Red Letter Days‖ of cricket test matches and Wimbledon are something to look forward to. In many villages, there are the ―Red Letter Days‖ of Flower Festivals, Garden Parties and Concerts – events which are open to the whole village community. In the Church, the ―Red Letter Day‖ we are looking forward to is Pentecost on Sunday 12 th June. Red is the liturgical colour for Pentecost and it is a festival equally as important as both Christmas and Easter. Pentecost is the day when the Holy Spirit came on those first disciples of Jesus after His Resurrection and Ascension into heaven. It was the Holy Spirit who helped those disciples realise just who Jesus was, and empowered them to teach the things Jesus taught and to do the things Jesus did. It is the Holy Spirit who makes the Christian faith so exciting! Call in at a Church or Chapel near you to find out more.
