Prior to the industrial revolution, when the world was not so densely populated and most of the terrestrial areas were still natural, humans thought a future amongst solid buildings and machines could have no downside, However, the futuristic world where we live today, which has been destructive for many natural areas, has tragically altered the balance established at the beginning of time.
In our hands is the preservation or destruction of the environment and of life itself. The future of architecture should be directed toward recreating the balance of natural habitat. We are a generation that has experienced great changes to the order of human life, the flow of information and the advancement of technology.
The onus is now on us to design the right balance for the future of ecology and humanity.

As a Costa Rican architect with a diverse portfolio of projects, working as a professional since graduating from Veritas University in 2016. Veritas is recognised as one of the best universities in the country for design and architecture and is part of the LCI Education Network specialising in design, with 23 campuses in five continents. Within my 7 years of experience, I have taken on all main responsibilities consistent with the role of an architect, For example, initial meetings with the client, site visits, design proposals, construction plans, budgeting, construction management, and final delivery of the project. I recently moved to Scotland and have not yet been available to register with the ARB, I plan to register with the ARB this year after gaining experience in the UK architectural and costruction industry. I possess the skills and mindset to adapt and develop in new environments and look forward to continuing my career in my newly adopted country.
WORK EXPERIENCE
ARCHITECTURAL ASSISTANT - BAUHU 2023 - 2024
Bauhu, based in the Isle of Man, boutique provider of custom-designed modular buildings specializing in hurricane-resistant homes and construction services worldwide that operates remotely. In this role, I developed detailed architectural designs by translating structural concepts into plans, sections, elevations, and other components of the architectural package. One project I worked on involved developing the architectural package for a luxury residence located in the US Virgin Islands.
ARCHITECTURAL ASSISTANT - EMA ARCHITECTURE + DESIGN 2022 - 2023
An architectural practice based in Edinburgh, Scotland specialising in mixed use masterplanning, neighbourhood design and architecture, working alongside professionals such as architects and engineers. Participating in the elaboration of masterplan projects through all phases of the scheme for submission and approval by their respective council. Doing specific tasks in site design, floor plans, elevations and respective real visualizations of their sections. This allowed me to gain more experience in the architectural and construction industry in the country.
OWNER - ARCHITECT - STG DESIGN.ARCHITECTURE 2021
STG architecture and design is a small design office that I created during the pandemic. This venture has seen me take on a project to design and contruct a luxury home, from ideation to completion in the Pacific coast of Costa Rica. I was fully responsilble for all stages of the design, from main meetings with the clients, site visits, drawing blueprints and detailed plans, legal procedures with the government, schedules, budgeting and construction contracts.
ARCHITECT - DELMAJO CONSTRUCTION 2020
A construction and design company for luxury projects, from residential houses to masterplans, located in Tamarindo, Costa Rica. In this role I was responsible for initial design conception and development, blueprints, renders and budgets. I had the opportunity to work on projects of great importance, such as, the masterplan to extend RYTHMIA resort with a VIP area. Another one of my core projects was the design of Tamarindo Apartments, a complex of 18 apartments in 3 buildings with recreational areas, a swimming pool, parking and security entrance. I was also responsible for maintenance reports for many luxury vacation homes in the area that the company managed.

PROJECT MANAGEMENT - ECO-FRIENDLY DEVELOPERS
2017 - 2020
A design and construction company located in Puerto Viejo, on the Caribbean coast of Costa Rica, specialising in the use of maritime containers. We carried out projects ranging from one 20-foot container, to projects of 50 modified 40-foot containers. I was responsible for design tasks, development of ideas with the client, planimetric drawing, management of personnel and suppliers, elaboration of schedules and delivery of completed projects. Whilst in this role, I collaborated on the administration and design of family residential projects, rental apartments and temporary buildings for the Dutch company, APM terminals.
ARCHITECT - GALA ARCHITECTURE
2015 - 2017
Design office located in San Jose, Costa Rica, specialising in luxury residential projects throughout the country. In this role, I was entrusted with and responsible for site visit tasks, meetings with clients, drawing plans, preparation of renders and legal procedures with the government.
ARCHITECTURAL DESIGNER - SAN JOSÉ MUNICIPALITY
2014 - 2015
A multidisciplinary governmental entity in charge of the administration of the city of San José, It was in this role where I undertook my initial training as an architect after graduating from university. I was responsible for the design of a 1000m2 warehouse to be used for storing machinery and tools that are used for government contruction and maintenance within the city. I worked closely with a civil engineer and through this, gained a great insight into the collaborative nature of an architectural role.

Luxury modular residence hurricane-resistant located in Estate Peterburg, St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands. Embracing a minimalist and modern concept, every aspect of the architectural design, from the overall layout to the smallest detail, was meticulously crafted to meet the unique needs of our clients while prioritizing safety and resilience against hurricanes.

The sunlight trajectories were analyzed and the project’s location mapped on the plot, considering topography, surrounding structures, and weather patterns. Leveraging advanced software, I strategically positioned windows, skylights, and outdoor spaces to optimize natural light while minimizing heat gain and glare.
Shading elements such as louvers and vegetation were integrated for comfort and energy efficiency. This informed the design of outdoor areas, ensuring they remained inviting year-round. In essence, the Sun Study enhanced both aesthetics and functionality, creating a harmonious living environment.

Casa Meyer is the dream-home of a family from the USA who relocated permanently to Costa Rica’s Playa Grande, known for its stunning beaches and pura-vida lifestyle. Inspired by their love for the area, they sought an architect to bring their vision to life. As an independent architect, it was my first opportunity to design a luxury house, collaborating closely with the clients. We conceptualized a floating house design, mirroring their passion for boats and offering panoramic views of the tropical vegetation and the Pacific Ocean.

RYTHMIA Life Advatange Center Resort

Year: 2020
Rythmia is an all-inclusive luxury, medicallicensed, plant-medicine center located in Hacienda Pinilla, Guanacaste, Costa Rica. The owner of the resort was looking to expand by adding a VIP area. I assisted in the development of a master plan - with an area of eight- hectares and 4383 square meters - for the expansion of the VIP area. Upon completion, the new VIP area will have 23 buildings including an entrance, reception, helipad, conference buildings, yoga centres, jacuzzi centres, music studios, luxury rooms, massage areas, cellars, parking lots and swimming pools. I was individually responsible for the development of design plans and 3D visualisations. I will now elaborate on two buildings in detail: the the front desk and the luxury rooms to see any other buildings please get in touch.

a. FRONT DESK
The reception of a hotel needs to be functional and fitfor-purpose whilst showcasing some of the hotel’s key design concepts. It should be a calm environment as this is where staff are making direct contact with guests, mainly regarding the beginning or end of their stay. The main function of this department is reservations, guest service, check-in and check-out, telephone, finance & cashiering, foreign exchange, room assignment, enquiries, etc.

Location: Huacas, Guanacaste, Costa Rica
Year: 2021
A holiday home designed using two maritime containers and an internal terrace to create a space of 120sqm. This project is located in Huacas town, Guanacaste - an area with many services nearby and just a few minutes from an array of beautiful beaches.
The house has two bedrooms and one master bedroom with an en-suite. There is an open-plan living area which encompasses a lounge, kitchen, dining area and an internal garden - perfect for entertaining guests.

The house also features a laundry room, a main bathroom and an extensive outdoor deck where the abundant nature and warm climate can be enjoyed. For this project my responsibilities were to attend the initial meeting with the client, visit the site, propose the design according to the taste and budget of the client, management and payment of contractors, blueprints, renders, and legal procedures with the municipality of the town.

To create a spacious living-dining area, I decided to put the containers four-metres apart. This allowed for a space of 48sqm with an open roof for the internal garden, allowing the entry of natural light and direct ventilation.

The house is made up of two family-size rooms of 20m2, a main bathroom, a master bedroom with an en-suite bathroom and walk-in closet. It also features an open-plan kitchen, TV room and dining room which opens out onto an external terrace with a bar. There is also a bathroom accessible from outside the house as part of a plan for a pool area in the future.
