01|Compact Living A tiny condominium for a nuclear family.

Statement | The floor plate is approximately six hundred square feet, the goal is to make apartment appear larger. The project is a product of space optimization with a combination of Client’s minimalist philosophy and harmonious elements. The footprint of apartment being small, minimal divisions have been made between areas and retained maximum free space for carrying out everyday activities.

Statement | Hotels Group International, Inc (HGI) invested in 1540 Broadway located in downtown Oakland, California.

HGI plans to develop a boutique hotel that will primarily serve business guests and tourists. The hotel is eight stories, and has a rooftop sky bar. Hotel design includes the Lobby area, Cocktail lounge, Fine dine restaurant, Banquet and Ball rooms.

Concept | Post California Gold rush, Oakland saw a transformation as a transit hub for people and commodities.

Oakland was a land of freedom, a land of acceptance. It was a place people looked up to in the spirit of escapism, better future and new life. Today, Oakland is a land of various races and people from different economic backgrounds.

The aim is to the welcome one and all to the hotel by creating a city level attraction on our site. One can enjoy a beautiful sunset over our sister city San Francisco at the street level.

The idea is to create a human size periscope. For anyone to enjoy the Oakland skyline without climbing tall buildings. This is with the hope of celebrating Oakland with a purpose of giving back to the city and its people.

Be it a tourist, hotel guest, a local or a student, everyone is welcomed here. The open plaza is an extension of Latham Square. With a small café, seating area and the Periscope.

03|Handmade Interiors for a multigenerational family.

Statement | The space planning is developed catering to nine members in the family. The floor plate is approximately five thousand square feet and the project aims to reflect the vastness of the built structure. The house showcases a classic style with simple geometry and clean lines.

The decorative materials are custom, easy on eyes and easy to maintain.

Project Management | The work had kicked off right before Covid 19 pandemic. As the uncertainty of the situation came to rise, the enthusiasm changed into insecurity which affected the mental health of contractors and workers.

After educating ourselves about the situation, corresponding safety measures were adopted during construction process. With time these measures became new standards of work.

Prayer Unit | Crystal hanging light creates an interesting play of shadow and pattern. The sound of the bell is auspicious, it welcomes divinity and dispels evil. Hence, a semi open partition with metal bell installation was designed.

Dining Table | The dining area is a much celebrated space. The concept for the table comes from their family bond, originating from Client’s old tradition of dining together. The Father - Son duo are the rock solid base of the family. The marble top represents the family that stands balanced on the base. The threads unique to a marble could be compared to unique characteristics of a family. The waves portray the organic dynamics of relationships.

The high back chairs are made in pine wood, light weight and easy to move. Since the family has children at home, the dining chair is made with stain resistant fabric.

Statement | Esports turns on-line gaming into a spectator sport. It mimics the experience of watching a professional sporting event. The spectators watch video gamers compete against each other. The Academy of Art and its School of Game Development are working together to create a new venue intended to focus on an Esports competition arena, complete with a spectator and live web event broadcasting environment. The street level center intermingles with the bustling urban surrounding.

Concept Statement | As a gamer teleports into a virtual reality while gaming, one would feel they have teleported into a gaming world once they enter this Esport facility. The Concept is ‘Teleporting into a Gamer’s hamlet’.

This would be achieved by innovative materials in warm pastels, raw textures, biophillic elements, organic forms and curvilinear structures. The space would also incorporate fun and artistic installations to make one curious.

What comes to mind when we think of a coast? It is the beach, the sand, the waves, the sky, the sun, the sound.

The place where all the drama happens, The Horizon. The Horizon is the apparent junction of the Sky and the Earth.

Concept Statement | As one enjoys a sunset at a beach, they see a seamless bonding of the sky, the sun, the water at the Horizon. The Concept is ‘The Horizon’. It is achieved by textures and hues that best represent the Sky and the Water, organic forms and biophilic elements.
