Service Awards
Joanie Adams 35 years Joanie Adams has worked with Recreation and Parks for over 35 years. She started working for the department in 1983 as a Play Leader. Her career has since expanded over several decades taking on several titles throughout her career such as individual activities supervisor, playgrounds and aquatics supervisor, program supervisor, support service manager, program manager, facilities and aquatics manager to her now title Deputy Director of Recreation. Joanie has chaired various statewide committees with the Georgia Recreation and Park Association (GRPA). She also holds membership to the National Recreation and Parks Association (NRPA). Mrs. Adams was appointed to the executive committee as First Vice President of GRPA where she later received two presidential citations and Distinguished Professional Award. In October of 2010, Mrs. Adams was awarded the GRPA First District Leadership Award. Congratulations to Joanie on 35 years of continuous service to the department.
