ALTONA BEACH FILM FESTIVAL 2018 GALA NIGHT
It was “Lights, Camera, Action” at the Altona Beach Film Festival’s Gala Night on 18th August. Cameras were flashing, as guests walked the Red Carpet into Altona Civic Theatre, to view this year’s Film Entries. Guests were greeted by a smile and a glass of bubbly, as they arrived, welcomed by ABFF President, Annette Stephens. On show throughout the evening, were sixteen short films, from local and international entrants. The theme for this year was “PETS” and the film makers certainly used their imagination when interpreting the theme. There were films that had the audience in tears and laughter, watching with anticipation, enthusiasm and excitement. Films about Dogs, Cats, Lizards and Pigeons. Films with Canines cavorting and
Feline actors and the sound of Gypsy’s. This was the fourth Altona Beach Film Festival, an original idea of Annette Stephens. “ABFF started with a simple idea. Everyone can make a film and everyone enjoys films. So why not have a film festival in Altona? A film festival attracts visitors to Altona. A film festival creates a vibrant and creative community. A film festival is an annual event that inspires imagination and community engagement.” Among the guests were Councillor Sandra Wilson, our own editor, Melissa Longo, Janet Dawes and Tania Blackwell from Hobsons Bay Council, Celebrity local Radio Announcer Rob Richardson from WYN FM and Kim and Sharon Walsh from continue page 3
