CRITIC: EDWIN LIU DIGITAL CONSTRUCTS 2 SPRING 2022

The stair is an essential and complicated piece in a given architectural project. Their complexity lends itself to be specifically designed by the architect. The stairs shown here are from the Lloyd’s building in London by Richard Rogers, Mike Davies, Ivan Harbour, and Syd Cheatle.

Existing documentation from books and magazines was used to recreate various drawings of these stairs, liked together by a projection system. These drawings laid the foundations for the 3D digital model. A series of generative studies was then performed using these models, creating a new object. This object was laid on a field to create the final generative study.
