It’s Terry Fox Run time
Sleepless in Arnprior Ottawa filmmaker Brett Kelly plays bad during a break from shooting a horror movie short at the Arnprior Guest House, owned by Theresa Dunn, last Saturday. From left, in the background, are Dunn and actors Celine Filion, who plays the child’s mom, Scott McClelland, who plays the hotel owner, and Sam Ashe Arnold, who plays the role of a young child. The story line is that a mother and child check into a bed and breakfast in an unfamiliar community, where bad things happen when the child doesn’t go to bed on time.

Paralympian John Leslie to kick off Arnprior run
Sherry Haaima sherry.haaima@metroland.com
News – The Arnprior Terry Fox Run this Sunday, Sept. 14 will feature a very special guest at its kick-off. Hometown hero/Paralympian John Leslie will be on hand to help starts things off at the local event, which runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Arnprior Fairgrounds. Organizer Stephen Dodd encourages everyone to come out and enjoy the day. After all, said Dodd, it’s a great cause. “What I really wanted to emphasize is The Terry Fox Foundation’s single mission is to fund innovative cancer research,” said Dodd. “It’s
independent, not associated with Canadian Cancer Society or any other cancer fundraising national organizations and 84 cents of every dollar raised goes to cancer research.” To date, added Dodd, the foundation has raised more than $650 million for cancer research. More than $230,000 has been raised at the Arnprior site over the years, said Dodd. At last year’s run, there were 97 participants and $7,500 raised, which was almost double the amount raised in 2012. “Once again we’re just looking to get numbers increased,” said Dodd. “My
hope this year is to match what we did in 2013 and if we surpass it then that’s awesome.” He expressed his thanks to former organizer of the local run Rita Clouthier. “My hat is really off to her,” said Dodd. There will be a free barbecue for participants and those not in the run can enjoy the barbecue with a donation. Pledge forms can be picked up right up until the start of the event at Peebles at the Arnprior Mall, Play It Again Sports, Goldbar, Home Hardware, the Arnprior Chronicle-Guide, Arnprior Bowler, Arnprior Public Library, town hall and The Cupboard.
