Spitzii leads a rambling life that even the Littlest Hobo would envy. Every day is a new adventure on the rivers and lakes of Canada, experiencing dangerous encounters with wildlife and meeting generous folks who invite him to stay for a time. REGION REGION His life could be a television show. The Finnish Spitz breed of dog has likely circumnavigated the world twice by canoe, and even holds a couple of world honours in canoeing. All that without having to paddle even one time. His master Mike Ranta gets that job, along.COMwith the distinction of being the .CA first person in history to cross North America in one season by canoe, and a record for longest solo canoe trip.

OPP are investigating several incidents, including two overnight break-ins on Aug. 30-31, and have made an arrest. A 16-year-old male was picked up in Arnprior Sept. 1 and is facing several charges related to the thefts. STEALING FROM VETS
The targets were the Arnprior Legion on Daniel Street and Scheel Window and Door on Madawaska Boulevard. OPP officers responded to an alarm at the Legion on Tuesday, Aug. 30 at 11:09 p.m. When they arrived they found a door forced open, a safe damaged and cash stolen. What makes the theft particularly galling is that the money raised at the Legion goes toward helping veterans and their families. See THIEVES page 4
