HOTEL NUOVA MAGNOLIA HOUSE

HOTEL NUOVA

Hotel Nuova is located in and named after the bustling business district of Milan, Italy known as Porta Nuova . The goal was to tie Milan’s culture into the space through Biophillic design principles featuring a neutral color pallete to promote healing and relaxation. Various amneities are on site such as an indoor pool, organic snack shack, and a bar to catch up with friends and collegues. The spaces were designed with the intent of providing each user with the upmost luxury experience through customizable controls for climate and lighting, along with furniture and materials made and sourced locally in Italy.

RECEPTION AND CHECK IN

GUEST LOUNGE AND WAITING AREA

Upon checking in, located behind the reception is a contemporary guest lounge to provide guests with a space to congregate with others and have a central meeting point. This space is also located right off the Organic Snack Shack for easy access to grab a quick bite after checking in or before going to explore the city. Floor to ceiling curtains throughout for privacy and shading from sunlight if needed, and all furniture is manufactured and sourced locally in Italy to uphold the authentic italian, yet contemporary feel of Hotel Nuova. The concierge and bell hop is found at check in.

WINE AND COCKTAIL BAR

Featured just off the Organic Snack Shack is the Wine and Cocktail bar. This is the perfect spot to meet up with friends or family to have a quick drink. The bar does offer small appetizers but nothing beats a meal from the Organic Snack Shack. There are many different seating formats available to provide guests with multiple areas to choose from. We have bar top seating, lounge seating for group settings, and smaller seating arrangments for one-on-one conversations. The goal for this space was to bring Porta Nouva’s contemporary feel but mix it with Italy’s natural materials and color pallettes. Lounge areas feature Italian leather, sunken chandaliers ,and warm ambient lighting.

All water pumped into the hotel is filtered to ensure guests have clean drinking water and clean water to bathe with, along with that all suites are equipped with customizable climate controls and lighting levels to promote energy conservation. We have included an indoor pool for relaxtion and time to unwind and relax poolside with friends and family. To support the Well V2 standard of nourishment, we have incorporated an Organic Snack Shack to give our guests healthy alternaitves for a quick snack, or even a sit-down meal.

RENDERED PERSPECTIVES

The existing floorplan was altered by adding foam insulation to further prevent noise from reverberating, along with the kitchen relocated to the back corner to further prevent vibrations/noises in work areas from reaching the bedrooms. Along with dimmer switches throughout to control light levels, and all ceiling fans removed and replaced with flush cane lights as fan blades have shown triggers to feelings of helicopters, blades, and more. The stoop was also expanded to accomodate means of connecting through nature.

The design focus was to be neutral, clean, and simple, as to not make the veteran client uncomfortable in their own home. The floor plan offers a large, open living space with flush lighting to accentuate height in the space, along with large windows to allow a plethora of sunlight to enter the home. This is the perfect environment for a Veteran to come home to away from the loud noises of the city, for peace, relaxation, comfort, and overall a safe and secure environment. Diagrams are used to help define how space planning is utilized , and what traffic patterns occur throughout the floor plan. Each space is sorted into three zones; work (green), private (blue), and public (brown).

LUKA ARNAUTOVIC CORPORATE DESIGN SPRING 2022

Located in the heart of Manhattan, Next cosmetics is the next big thing in the make up industry. Founded through the desire of inclusivity and equality , as the creator was a Korean woman who came to the US and struggled matching her skin tone. Thus, Next cosmetics was created for a more modern, postpandemic work place. The design was based off product swatches to create an enticing look with natural tones through Biophillic Design principles and tedious space planning. Inspiration was derived from the fashion and beauty industry in New York’s culture along with beauty shoots done by Next to promote product.

Chicago Clinical Care (C.C.C.) is located in the heart of downtown Chicago and is widely accessible to the immigrant population. The goal of the project was to create a space that feels comforting and healing to the patients through the use of a neutral color pallette, biophillic design, and use of materials/textures. The aim was for inclusive design to cater to each patients needs.

CHICAGO CLINICAL CARE

Entering off the elevator you are greeted by a check-in reception desk and a waiting area. Friendly staff is there to assist each and every guest, along with answering any quick questions while waiting. The reception is located across the hall from the scheduling office for easy accessibility, as well as the self check-in kiosks being located across the hall.

Luka Arnautovic Healthcare Design Spring 2023
RECEPTION RENDERING

Located just off the elevators and the reception, is the self check-in kiosks. The self check in kiosks were designed to simulate self growth with the art sculptures of vines growing up the walls from behind the kiosks. The kiosks were put in place for patients who already have paperwork filled out, or have an appointment set beforehand, this will help the flow and intake of patients should there be an influx.

Our mission is to provide easily accessible, 24 hour, family friendly, hospitable, and reliable healthcare to all . This being done in a space that promotes healing, rejuvination , and being your most healthy self possible.

SELF CHECK-IN KIOSKS ACCESSIBLE RELIABLE FAMILY FRIENDLY HOSPITABLE OPEN 24 HOURS

The material choices were chosen to be neutral and sustainable in the long run. How easy it is to clean, maintain, and use on a day to day basis but still have that aesthetic function to it as well, was very important in material selecetion, espcially in the exam rooms. Terrazzo floors were used to have a pop of fun color but still be a solid surface, which makes it easy to clean and maintain. Terrazzo can also be refinished in due time if it is needed. Solid surface woods from Formica along with textured walls aid in the naturalistic, biophillic feel without compromising on sustainability and still being seamless for easy cleaning.
