Resume Resources All on-campus positions are posted online and applicants must create an account to apply. You must submit a resume and cover letter/letter of interest when applying for any student position. Career Services is available to help you develop your resume and provide career counseling. Please review the following guide to learn why a resume is an important tool and then begin to draft your resume for review by Career Services.

Human Resource professionals typically spend between 15 seconds and 2 minutes initially looking at a resume

Organization of Resume 

 

Information listed first is most likely to be scanned, make sure it is the most important Reverse chronological order (most recent first) Use bullet points for detail Keep format simple and consistent


What to Avoid 

  

High school information if you are a junior or senior in college Templates Keep away from phrases such as “Responsibilities/duties included…” Avoid the statement “references available upon request”

Follow these simple steps to search and apply for campus positions: Contact Career Services at 912.344.2563 to schedule an appointment to have your resume and cover letter/letter of interest critiqued. Once you have met with Career Services, you will gain access to the site that houses all current student positions. Go to the URL provided and click “Create Application.” Create your user name and password (do not lose these) and follow the instructions provided to create your application. Each required field must be completed. Complete as many fields as necessary to ensure your application is as complete as possible. Make sure to list references that are not friends or roommates. Your references should be people that can speak to your work ethic (preferably a previous supervisor or faculty member). Search job postings and select a position to which you would like to apply. Click the “Apply for this Posting” button and follow the steps through the supplemental questions. Upload your resume and cover letter/letter of interest as they are required documents. Upload other required documents listed in the position description (i.e. availability, writing sample, etc.) if applicable. You will receive a confirmation number once you have successfully completed the application process. This number will be useful when you log-in with your user name and password to check the status of your application. You will be contacted by the hiring manager if you are selected for an interview. Please note that your application for a position will remain active for six (6) months.
