ABOUT US

Simple Faith

In 1991, two young hearts, by faith, started Armour Publishing to share and spread God’s Word. Little did they know they were embarking on an incredible journey of valleys and hills, with many unexpected adventures along the way. Faith has pulled Armour through more than three decades. With faith, hope and love, Armour looks forward to its next season—a renewed season to continue obeying God and faithfully do His work. For we know His promise:

“‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.’”

(Jeremiah 29:11)

WHAT WE DO

God’s Plan and Wondrous Salvation of Humankind

God’s plans can be discovered, discerned and unfolded as we nurture and build a close relationship with Him, trusting in Him and in His timing.

“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”

(John 3:16)

“…[that you] may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ…”

(Ephesians 3:18)

Armour’s reason and motivation to reach out, share and continuously publish is anchored upon God’s love for humankind. Our aim is to disseminate the wonderful news of God’s love and salvation to the ends of the earth. We thank God for the many friends, anointed men and women of God, who have worked together with us and partnered us in this cause.

OUR PASSION AND STEWARDSHIP

Christian Content Development

In our Christian publishing endeavour, Armour develops content that gives voice to Christian writers who honour God through their words and insights— reaching out to the lost, sharing His goodness and building up His people for His glory, purpose and Kingdom. Obey Jesus

Jesus is our Good Shepherd, who stays close to us through all seasons of our life. In obedience to Jesus’ words, “Feed my sheep”, Armour strives to continue creating content, books and resources to feed God’s people His Word (much like the “fodder and water” for sheep), even as the world becomes more uncertain and chaotic.

Armour continuously connects and collaborates with Christian communities, leaders, institutions, organisations and partners that share our passion and values to glorify our God Almighty in everything we do. We welcome like-minded parties to get in touch with us.

To this end, Armour’s collection of books on the biblical approach to difficult topics has been highly recommended as informative and helpful.

Back to Jesus (and Back to Jesus Workbook)

Edward Keith Pousson

The way forward is back to Jesus. Every true revival since Pentecost has involved a return to the original Jesus of the gospel. Nothing is more essential to discipleship than knowing, loving and imitating this Jesus as our Master, Model and Mentor. Back to Jesus brings to light Jesus’ tried and true method of training disciples for the kingdom of heaven. The Back to Jesus Workbook contains reflection and discussion questions that will help you practically apprentice yourself to Jesus, assimilate his teaching into your life and be conformed to his image from the inside out.

Paperback the Will of God: Biblical Keys to Divine Guidance
Edward Keith Pousson left the faith as a youth and fell in with the draft-dodging, hard-rocking rebellion of the American 60s and 70s. He came back to God during the phenomenal Jesus People Movement, when tens of thousands of rockers and hippies crash-landed into the kingdom of God. As a newly initiated Jesus Freak, he traded the Beatles for the Apostles; John, Paul, George and Ringo for Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. He then served as a missionary in Haiti, Africa and Malaysia, and as a pastor in his home state of Louisiana. After that, he earned his Masters and Doctorate at Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena, California. He has been living in Singapore since 1990, serving in theological education, pastoral ministry, itinerant preaching and writing. His only claim to fame is his dear wife, Lai Kheng and their three grown children, Jachin, Justice and Evangeline. His one passion is Jesus. And the only title he answers to is “Jesus Freak”.

Spiritual Disciplines for Urban Christians

Robert M Solomon

The Christian life is a disciplined life lived in the presence of God. While God takes the initiative to find us, it is through the godly and faithful practice of spiritual disciplines, enabled by His grace, that we can remain in His presence. This book deals with those critical disciplines that help us to live in an internal spiritual environment in which we can practise disciplines such as Bible-reading, prayer, discerning God’s will, worship, fasting and doing good. By reading, reflecting and practising, the reader can find that road that is less travelled and find deep blessings in God’s presence and true ministry in a world that is dominated by speed without direction, noise without truth, crowds without community, material plenty without spiritual fullness, and selfishness without love.

Transformed to Transform: Making an Impact for God in Uncertain Times

Adriel Loh

Struggle is the common experience of humanity. While on the outside, our lives appear to be all in place, yet what the world does not see are the struggles we face on the inside. Transformed to Transform gives us a framework that is centred upon the building of three key relationships—our relationship with God (upward), with ourselves (inward), and with others (outward). These relationships form the basis of the five-step process of Faith, Surrender, Intimacy, Self-Leadership and Ministry. This is a clear and practical roadmap that leads us from where we are to where we want to be.

We Shall Dream Dreams: A Bible-centred Approach to Dream Interpretation

Koh Yeok Soon

Dreams can be so surreal, disjointed and confusing, yet it is written in the Bible that in the last days, God would speak to His people through dreams. We Shall Dream Dreams bears testimony to this promise.

• Where do dreams come from?

• How do we differentiate God-given dreams from other dreams?

• Why does God give us dreams?

• How do we interpret dreams?

• What are the pitfalls to avoid when interpreting dreams?

Through the Scriptures and many biblical and personal examples, the author systematically answers these and other questions about dreams and how to interpret them. The Bible-centred approach makes this book unique in that readers can now explore the mystery of dreams within the safety of biblical guidelines.

This book contains a listing of the dreams narrated in the Bible as well as easy-to-follow steps to guide readers through the process of dream interpretation.

About the Author

Koh Yeok Soon, an elder of Covenant Presbyterian Church, Singapore, grew up in a church with a strong Word-centred culture. As a young person, he could sense the Lord speaking to him through dreams. Through years of God’s leading and teaching, he has gained a personal understanding of and insight into dreams from God and their interpretations.

Yeok Soon has conducted several workshops on dream interpretation in churches in Singapore and Malaysia. Married to his wife Wai Yee, they are blessed with four children.

Breaking Forth with Health

Jason Teo

God desires His children to prosper in health. If ‘by His stripes we are healed’ (Isaiah 53:5), how can we receive, sustain and grow in the healing He has purchased for us on the Cross? Read this handbook to experience new hope for healing, and learn how you too can experience the grace and power of Jesus to bring relief to your sickness! Drawing from Scripture and his many years ministering to the sick, Pastor Jason Teo shows:

• How provision for physical and spiritual health has already been made

• What you can do to position yourself for healing and divine comfort

• Sample prayers you can use

• How you can walk alongside the sick in their time of need

Breaking Forth with Health is not the usual health book you would expect. It is a resource no one seeking God’s healing for themselves or their loved ones should miss.

A Biblical Response to Homosexuality

National Council of Churches of Singapore

The issue of homosexuality is always contentious because it carries so much political and emotive baggage. As a result, any attempt to conduct an objective and rational discussion on the topic is unlikely to be read as free of polemics. How then should the Church respond to this highly controversial issue? Aimed at Christian leaders, pastors and those interested in a more in-depth reflection on the issue of homosexuality, A Christian Response to Homosexuality presents the position which the National Council of Churches of Singapore (NCCS) believes to be faithful to the Bible and the best traditions of the Church.

Pastors’ War Chest Leadership and Ministry

The Outstanding Leader (and The Outstanding Leader Workbook)

Daniel Foo

God’s great warriors were mighty men of valour, chief leaders (1 Chronicles 7:40). Today the Lord is calling us to be leaders of His kingdom—men and women who are reliable, effective and trustworthy. How do we become outstanding leaders He can use to take His people and His kingdom forward?

In The Outstanding Leader, Pastor Daniel Foo lays out a plan to help you become a successful and godly leader. In his clear and down-to-earth style, he shows you the scriptural keys to becoming a person God can use to bless others. You will learn how to identify with and step into the role God has ordained for you, draw on His strength to grow in confidence and overcome pitfalls, and defeat attacks that wear you down.

To bring it from theory to practice and finally into a daily lifestyle, The Outstanding Leader Workbook is an essential companion. Become the leader that God can use to bless your family, your ministry and others.

Digitally Remastered: A Biblical Guide to Reclaiming Your Virtual Self

Guy Brandon

IT permeates our every waking moment, opening up vast possibilities daily. We can do things more quickly, more efficiently, and we can do more. Yet there is a downside—days absorbed in social media, a quarter of working hours in unproductive online activity. And more sinister: loss of privacy, anonymity, the undisclosed harvesting of personal details by commercial and government organisations. Technology is about power—always.

Guy Brandon shows in this enormously helpful and practical book that the impact of communications technologies is not merely technological: It is relational and spiritual. And the reality is that unless we master them, they will master us.

“IT has changed our lives, our relationships and even our thinking. We need help in considering the implications for being Christ-like in the world. Guy Brandon’s book is a valuable contribution. Rather than making unconscious changes, we are enabled to make informed, life-enhancing decisions.”

About the Author

Guy Brandon is research director for the Jubilee Centre and holds a degree, MPhil and PhD in Old Testament theology from Cambridge University. His books include Just Sex (IVP) and Votewise (SPCK). As a freelance writer and consultant, Guy has worked with a range of cryptocurrency platforms, communities and businesses, creating articles, white papers and film scripts. Guy is married with two children.

The Sovereign God and the Christian Disciple

Robert

The sovereignty of God is a doctrine that has been debated by Christians for centuries. For some, this remains a passionate topic, creating different camps among Christians, endlessly arguing about whether God’s sovereignty and human free will can co-exist. For the majority, the doctrine is a vague concept that remains to be explored. This book deals with these issues by examining what the Bible says about God’s sovereignty and human responsibility. It explores the sovereignty of God by looking at God as the Creator, Saviour, Shepherd and Judge, and tackles questions that commonly emerge.

Returning to God’s Original Intent

Loh Hung Chey

God had a clear purpose in mind when He created the human race and called the Church into being. Yet the Church today is still far from what God intends her to be. Believers are not living out their God-given potentials.

Using the Epistle to the Ephesians, Dr Loh Hung Chey reveals what God’s original intent is and where the current Church stands in relation to this. He gives likely reasons for the variance, and expounds on the epistle to provide valuable discipleship materials for believers in the Church to be restored to God’s intent.

Evangelism

Dr Billy Graham, during his crusade in 1978, prophesied that Singapore would be the Antioch of Asia. Yet, today we see a growing number of people with no religion.

Source: Department of Statistics Singapore

The proportion of people who do not identify with any religion in Singapore may well be growing day by day. This trend is not unique to Singapore, with other countries experiencing the same phenomenon too. This presents an opportunity, as well as a challenge, for evangelism—domestically and across borders. It also reveals the need for relevant books and resources to reach those who do not yet know Christ. Books in Armour’s Evangelism category include some very interesting titles, such as those documenting John Sung’s early evangelistic works in Southeast Asia and one that narrates the miraculous transformation of Rev Tam Ki from Myanmar.

From Darkness to Glorious Light

Tam Ki with Lim Min

From Darkness to Glorious Light is a compelling story of a man raised from the dead—physically and spiritually. Tam Ki was born in Machung, a tribal village hidden in the jungles of Chin Hills, Myanmar. No foreign missionary had ever visited the village. No one had ever heard of Jesus Christ. But in 1973, Tam Ki died and was mysteriously transported to Heaven.

With no access to any Bible, Tam Ki received supernatural visions, dreams and healings from God. A former K’cho spirit worshipper, Tam Ki is now a remarkable evangelist and church leader, bringing God’s light to thousands of people trapped in darkness.

As in the Apostles’ time, signs, wonders and miracles abound in this book. God’s power is evident in Tam Ki—the blind see, the lame walk and the sick are healed. Be awed by our great God whose amazing power transforms lives.

Evangelism

A Biography of John Sung

Leslie T Lyall

Dr John Sung, “the greatest evangelist China has ever known”, was born in Fukien in 1901—and by the time he died at the age of 42, tens of thousands had come to Christ, and many more Christians and churches had experienced incredible revival because of him. His ministry was just 15 years, but produced fruit that have lasted to this day. What was the secret of his success, and how did he come to be used so powerfully by God? This 2015 edition of A Biography of John Sung commemorates the eightieth anniversary of Sung’s visits to Singapore in 1935, and includes never-before-published accounts and testimonies of how the great work of God he ignited continues nearly a century later.

About the Author

Leslie Theodore Lyall (1905–1996) was a British Christian missionary in China, serving with the China Inland Mission (now OMF International). He also founded the InterVarsity Christian Fellowship (now UCCF) alongside JB Phillips, and after his service in China, he served in London as its Candidates’ Secretary. He continued to write about the church in China, and kept travelling, writing and speaking until his return home to the Lord.

Presence-Driven Donkeys: Bringing Christ to the Streets (Updated Edition)

Jeff Yuen

Jeff Yuen has brought Christ into the streets for many years, with amazing and miraculous results. This book is not a fanciful claim of miraculous happenings; it is an honest account of someone who takes God at His Word. He brings Christian witness to places where most fear to tread—sleazy pubs, sordid back lanes, and red light districts—but where the need for the Lord’s presence is greatest. He now shares his testimonies, and challenges you to join the mighty work of God outside the walls of the church. He also shows you ways we can see the world and its everyday situations as pulpits to bring God’s transforming power into the lives of others.

As an old proverb goes, “A rolling stone gathers no moss.”

With a career in Christian broadcasting spanning more than 50 years, David Huntley has worked, taught and preached in studios, stations and churches around the world.

For the next half-century, his duties would bring him to Malaya, Singapore, Indonesia, the Philippines, Hong Kong, the Seychelles, Thailand, Cambodia, Kenya and many other places. Join David on his journeys and challenges in God’s service. No Moss is his amazing story of how the Lord directed and provided for him and his family, through their years as “rolling stones” all over the globe.

“David Huntley’s book is a lively and personal account of Christian mission in Asia in the era after World War II. It paints a vivid and engaging picture of the backdrop to Christian activity in our contemporary world. David’s experiences will also be a great encouragement to readers as to how God can use and develop our gifts right through our lives! I warmly recommend it to the Christian community.”

About the Author

David Huntley grew up in World War II England. After the war he served in Singapore with the Royal Engineers, and then worked for British Railways. Called to serve God in missions, he entered Christian ministry with the CIM (later renamed OMF International), and became a church-planter, teacher and Christian radio broadcaster.

He is married to Ruth, a fellow missions worker; their three grown children, Jill, Andrew and Lynette, were all born in Asia. David and Ruth have retired to the UK, and have five grandchildren.

Surrender: The Happiest Decision of My Life

Lee Yonggyu

Surrender tells the lessons Dr Lee learnt as he sought to obey God on the mission field. After his graduation from Harvard in America, he and his family dedicated two years to missions. Two years turned into eight as he pastored Jireh Church in Ulaanbaatar, the capital of Mongolia, and served as Vice-President of Mongolia International University, a Christian-founded school.

Through sharing his experiences, Dr Lee hopes to challenge and encourage believers around the globe to serve wholeheartedly. He wants Christians to know how God works through those who crucify their lives in Christ. He says, “After we surrender our rights, we receive a satisfying inner peace and freedom from heaven.”

Rohtang Pass: A True Story of Faith, Friendship and Fortitude in the Himalayas Dr Pang Ningyi

In June 1979, two young Indian doctors with a mission first stepped into a forsaken hospital in a dusty Himalayan town.

When four junior Singaporean doctors embarked on an arduous journey to visit them more than thirty years later, they had no clue that the holiday would unfold into an incredible story of provoking life lessons and miraculous escapes from various rural dangers. While facing the wrath of a formidable snowstorm, testimonies of love, faith and courage were born in the valleys surrounding a merciless mountain pass.

Rohtang Pass is the gripping true story of doctors, teachers, children and heroes of the Indian Himalayas.

You can if you have travelled from Guatemala to Kiev to Beijing and seen God restoring hope in the midst of hopeless situations. Recounting his journey from captivity in Aceh, Indonesia, to freedom, Mark Geppert reveals the reality of knowing a God who never fails us or forsakes us. STM: Jesus the Storyteller: Hearing the Parables Afresh Today

Lim Kar Yong

Storytelling is a tool used by Jesus to address the disciples, the crowd, the religious authorities and many individuals who approached Him. These stories or parables are not randomly drawn from the daily experiences of Palestinian culture but told with a purpose. What then was the purpose of the parables of Jesus? How did the parables function in the teaching of Jesus? How were they presented in the Gospels? How can we be awakened anew to the radical message of the parables as followers of Jesus today?

In Jesus the Storyteller, Rev Dr Lim Kar Yong not only guides the readers to a deeper understanding of the parables of Jesus, but also offers contextualised homiletical ideas for pastors and preachers, and provides probing questions for further reflection and study.

STM: Passing the Baton: Meditations from Paul’s Second Letter to Timothy

Anthony YF Loke

Parting words can often be difficult to utter as we see in Acts 20:17-38. The apostle Paul’s parting words to the elders of Ephesus caused everyone to weep because they knew they would not see him again. In the Second Letter to Timothy, Paul uttered his farewell words to his young assistant. If we find ourselves in a similar situation and are at a loss for words, this wonderfully crafted parting piece can adequately speak on our behalf.

The material for this book first came to life as a series of 12 sermons preached from mid-2005 to mid-2006 to the congregation of Wesley Methodist Church Segamat in Johor. This book is dedicated to all the members and friends of Wesley Methodist Church Segamat who patiently sat through these sermons and offered valuable support and feedback for improvement.

The L ord is my shepherd, I lack nothing. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake. Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
