Tenant Engagement

Armada Hoffler works to bring people closer and foster a sense of community when we build, redevelop, and operate our buildings.

A key example is Harbor Point in Baltimore, Maryland, an ongoing development. One of the most prominent waterfront developments on the East Coast, Harbor Point has roots firmly planted in Baltimore’s industrial past, while forging a bold new identity as a forward-thinking, sustainable urban hub.

A former manufacturing site that remained undeveloped and unused for years, Harbor Point is transforming into Baltimore’s newest waterfront neighborhood, seamlessly blending office, retail, residences, hotels, and an unprecedented amount of green space into a dynamic new extension of the city. This project serves as an economic catalyst for both the city and the broader region.

Harbor Point is a 27-acre mixed-use project with three million square feet of office, retail, residential, and hotel uses, as well as 9.5 acres of open space.

We are committed to growing a green community. Harbor Point is Baltimore’s first true “eco-district;” a concept that expands on the idea of making individual buildings environmentally friendly (based on the U.S. Building Council’s LEED Program) by engineering these qualities into the entire neighborhood.

Efficient, dense 27-acre neighborhood with three million square feet of retail, residential, hotel, and office uses, as well as 9.5 acres of park and public spaces.

Require all buildings to be designed to at least LEED Silver standards.

Encourage environmentally conscious and sensitive design decisions.

Minimize resource use per building.

Promote the responsible use of water resources, including stormwater management and smart irrigation systems.

Coordinate with Waste Neutral to convert food waste generated at Harbor Point into soil that is used by local farms.

Provide easy access to a range of alternative transportation options.

Maintain a living shoreline along the majority of the water’s edge, providing a natural habitat for local plants and wildlife.

Tap into the waterfront promenade to create a more walkable community.

Supporting Local Families In Virginia

Armada Hoffler and its employees have supported disadvantaged students and their families at Thurgood Marshall Elementary School in Chesapeake, Virginia, for more than 30 years. Each year, our support starts with a back-to-school drive when employees donate school supplies. In November, we provide Thanksgiving meals and gift cards to families, in December we drop off “secret” holiday gifts for children selected by the school’s guidance counselors.

Supporting a Cause for a Cure

The Casey Cares Foundation is a non-profit organization that provides uplifting programs with a special touch for critically ill children and their families in eight states and D.C. The organization helps keep families' spirits high by arranging palliative programming - whether it's a care package for a simple movie night and a fresh pair of pajamas, visiting a live show, going to the zoo, or attending a major sporting event. Casey Cares makes life a lot better by adding a personal touch throughout the year and making lasting memories for families throughout the Mid-Atlantic region, Florida, and portions of the Midwest.

In 2022, 29 Armada Hoffler employees and their families helped support Casey Cares through through a walk that raised money for critically ill children.

Helping to Provide a “Home-Away-From-Home” for Seriously Ill Children and Their Families

Operation Homefront helps support strong, stable, and secure military families so they are able to thrive in the communities that they have worked tireless to protect. In July 2022, Armada Hoffler sponsored our first ever Star Spangled Baby Shower through Operation Homefront. We were able to provide 50 registered military mothers with amazing gifts to express our deep appreciation for their service. The event consisted of two parts, which was the packing 'party,' where we compiled the gift baskets, then the actual shower where expecting parents attended a drivethru to pick up their gifts.

Building Hope for Childhood Cancer

In 2022, we joined the fight against childhood cancer by supporting the Roc Solid Foundation. Armada Hoffler employees had the opportunity to build a playset for Tobias, a 5-year-old boy with Leukemia. He will be isolated at home for treatments over the next 2+ years. Roc Solid started locally in Chesapeake, Virginia and has quickly expanded throughout the country. Its mission is to build hope for kids fighting cancer through the power of play.

Armada Hoffler has always been passionate about supporting those affected by cancer and funding further research. Each year in the U.S., approximately 16,000 kids are diagnosed with cancer. While a cancer diagnosis is unfortunate at any age, it is especially heartbreaking when it is a child.
