Introduction to the brand

The Orca Footwear brand creates musical boots for producers and people that feel over stimulated in loud or noisey environments.

Lots of people suffer with noise sensitvity or Hyperacusis. It is especially prominent in people with autism and is something that they have to deal with on a daily basis. Particularly in todays age, we are constantly being subjected to numerous loud noises whilst out and about. From cars and road works to loud restaurants and voices it can feel inescapable.

Orca Footwear helps combat this overstimulation, with our discrete footwear technology it is easy to produce calming soundscapes to give the wearer distance between them and constant noise of everyday life. It is proven that listening to drawn out, soft sounds gives the brain space to think and process thoughts and ideas in a more effective way.

The name Orca, represents the Killer whales ability to produce sounds such as clicks as a form of navigation and discriminating prey and other objects in the surrounding environment.

They are commonly heard during social interactions. All members of a resident pod use similar calls, known collectively as a dialect.

The human-made noise interferes with orcas’ ability to thrive because of their reliance on echolocation, hearing and the sounds they produce, to hunt, navigate and communicate. This parallel between human-made noises effecting people and marine life highlights the damaging impact we have on ourselves and the delecate ecosystem that we are part of.

Brand values and USP

As a brand Orca Footwear strives to protect our oceans and all marine life. We have teamed up with the charity Blue Marine Foundation who’s mission it is “restore the ocean to health by addressing overfishing, one of the world’s biggest environmental problems.” They are dedicated to creating marine reserves, restoring vital habitats and establishing models of sustainable fishing.

Blue Marine’s mission is to see at least 30% of the world’s ocean under effective protection by 2030 and the other 70% managed in a responsible way.

30% of profits from all footwear sold by Orca will be donated to Blue Marine Foundation to help them with their mission.

Orca’s mission is to help as many people it can through tools of creative expression, ease the stress of everyday life as well as having an impact on the environmental climate and making sure our oceans are proctected for future generations to enjoy.

Orca Footwear capabilities

Our USP is that there is nothing else like this on the market. Its compact, sleak design makes it the perfect on the move music tool. With a rechargable battery and bluetooth compatibility, the Orca boot can be played though headphones, bluetooth speaker or just though your phone.

Target customer and market position

Orca Footwear targets people with an interest in sounds and music production. Marketed as therapeutic instrument the Orca Footwear can be used on the go to take the user out of their body and into a creative musical space where they can explore a library of unique musical sounds.

The Orca Boots are for people of all ages. It can be used as a form of creative expression or purely a device to replace surrounding noises with calming soundscapes. With a simple user interface consisting of a few buttons and couple dials, it can be used by anyone.

In relation to the market Orca Footwear is high quality with technology features and so is set at a higher price. Orca Footwear is an affordable luxury brand.

Brands Logo Orca

The Orca FOOTWEAR logo should be used on all packaging and letter headings. However, with the exception of social media where the logo shown on the next page can be displayed stand alone.

The Orca FOOTWEAR logo uses a combination of black and white cutouts depicting a tail and wave encapsulated in a circle. The tail is also incorporated into the ‘O’ which makes text feel inclusive with the logo.

For profile images and detailing the logo must be used as an icon symbol of the brand.

Berkshire Swash works well for the brand as it has lots of curves and flicks on certain letters which I adapted to suit my theme.

Century Gothic is sharper, its more pronounced and has a classic look. With spacing between each letter and in upper case it creates a authoritative stance.

I like the contrast between the two fonts as it portrays the brand as being fun and exciting as well as being trustworthy and reliable.

Physical elements

Shoe Box

The big logo on the top of the box is easily eye-catching and recognisable.

The logo is displayed on both the side and end of the box with the line being in line with adjacent side of the box.

Swing Tickets

Swing tickets come either white or black depending on the shoe colourway.

The insoles of the shoes display the brands logo on the heel with the words Orca FOOTWEAR on the main part of the insole in a lead grey to offset the black.
