News from Arlesey Community Events

The Arlesey Scarecrow Festival was a great success - along with the judges favourites which featured in last months edition, the residents voted for their favourite scarecrow. The winner by 1 vote was the Greatest Scarecrow man - congratulations to Michelle and family for this fabulous entry. We also put all the entries names into a hat and pulled a random winner - Rainbow Annie created by 1st Arlesey Rainbows. Can we just thank everyone again for the support for this event - it was great to see so many people get involved, and we look forward to making this an annual event.

As you may have already realised we have taken the difficult decision not to host the Summer Fete this year - we felt it was a little too risky having a large scale event just as the schools were about to start back. We don't want to be the cause of school bubbles being in isolation as soon as terms begun! We will keep an eye on the situation and hopefully we will be able to hold a Christmas Fair along with the Christmas lights switch on at the end of November.

We are looking to the future and days when we can run "proper" events again. We have missed being part of the Community and sharing fun times with you all. 2022 will be the Queen's Platinum Jubilee and we are already in the early stages of planning events to coincide with this.

One event we are looking into for next summer is Arlesey Open Gardens. This will be an independent event, not part of the National Open Gardens Scheme. We are also considering entering Arlesey in the Britain in Bloom competition - again if you would like to be involved with this please get in touch!
