MICROASIS

Fence Oval plan optimizes face to face communication with multiple people.

Bacoor has been transformed by a bustling, progressive city responsible for the congestion of major thoroughfares and overpopulation. As a result, many commuting citizens suffer from heavy trafic daily. Amidst the heavy traffic and huge amount of waiting, commuting citizens have a habit of socializing to pass boredom and reduce stress.

In response to the context, this proposal uses the idea of building relationships as the key driver for design. To provide an eye-catching structure that reflects both history and vernacularism of Bacoor. The design approach seeks to turn the stereotypical bus shelter designed in Bacoor to an interactive space refuge.

To fit into sidewalk sizes, micro structure limits its size from the ground and then vertically increases.

Aside from aesthetics, the funnel-like translucent canopy will harvest rainwater to the underground storage at the same time allowing natural light to penetrate the canopy.

WOODEN MESH FENCE Inspired by the history of Bacoor“Bakod” . The bamboo mesh will allow people to see approaching vehicles at the same time providing a barrier.

SEATS To enable people to move regardless of scale, chairs are movable and adaptable to the stacking of people and equipment.

PLANTS Plants as an essential part of the space. People in urban places are exposed to pollution and stressful environment so bringing people close to nature might help boost their mood, clean air, and reduce the noise level.

Water has been an essential part of life, from drips of water coming from the river or rain washing out dirt and pouring on plants, plants that because of water they can grow, and when they grow they become paints of our earth canvass.

Water signifies continuity. The importance of water to nature’s continuity as necessary as human survival hence the beginning of Architecture.

In response to water’s generosity, Hiding beneath the rocks is a temple that resembles Aguacatitla ravine, a deep and narrow temple that is hiding a rough mossy stone wall, a lush green wall and as you approach the light you will see the magnificent waterfall of Huasca de Ocampo. The temple design revitalized the water from every aspect letting the water drip towards the green wall system to the drainage sloping towards the lake thus returning the water clean and purposedly.

Just like water journeying an unknown path, A great phenomenological trip full of emotion and at the end of the path is a refuge for fertile minds from fertile places.

Project Name

HIVE

The Hive simulates the ways of the bees which are nature’s tiny creative geniuses in a way how they signify productivity and communal participation. Bee nests are products of shared creativity that is actually subject to the beauty and laws of the universe. Honeycomb in particular is the structural framework of these habitats in the form of a regular hexagon which is mathematically proven to be the most efficient shape to fill a plane or a space that takes less perimeter and little to no wasted space. The geometry prodigies seem to know what is best for the colony as these spaces are made utilizing less energy possible enabling them to gather more food.

Beginning from its material conception to its social dimension, humans are also capable of what bees are doing. This is where Bauhaus shall come into the new chapter. When there was once the industrial, now it is informational; when there was once the mighty glass and steel, today is smart glazing and timber renaissance; when there was once the marriage of artistry and craftsmanship, now is the age of digital fabrication; and when there was once human monotony, today is for nature’s magnificent complexity.

FLOOR PLANS The honeycomb conjecture is the mathematical proof that regular hexagons are the most efficient shape to take up a space utilizing less perimeter. Thus, this has become the basic module to be assembled with different configurations based on needs. The units are arranged to be like honeycombs defined by their sides and radial proportions.

Bauhaus Campus

A-HOUSE CAMPUS “A house is a machine for living in” as Le Corbusier popularized, tackles the house as tools that aims to make its users more comfortable and productive. ‘A House’ being a machine for living in is to make schools to be like one.

The Dining Area employs a welcoming atmosphere to its users. The Kitchen as to where ideas shall be prepared and cooked accordingly. Whereas, The Living Room resonates an intimate exchange of ideas, and The Bedroom shall serve as a personal and refuge for the soul.

Project Name

GROW, GLOW, BLOOM! GROW, GLOW and BLOOM is a play of words inspired by the famous nutritional mnemonics to understand the need for food and their corresponding nutrients necessary for the human body. Cities have their fundamental needs on their own depending on the way they were being built but it is a fact in all dense cities and metropolitan regions that food is the primary commodity as the urban dwellers are the largest food consumers. However, high consumption of such commodities does not equally reciprocate its production as the rural areas are the places of farming. This phenomenon causes the expansion of the food supply chain having several layers and middlemen that definitely affect the cost of these goods making it less affordable for people.

GROW is a principle that challenges the dense urban environment to find means for food production. It serves as a countermeasure for densification of the urban fabric in such a way that the urban surplus or leftover spaces are seen as opportunities for planting and growing food that can augment the local demand for such products.

GLOW is the radical transformation of seemingly bulk and monumental forms of cities that creeps towards every single point of the urban neighborhoods that deprives the human need for natural stimulation. Like acupuncture, it aims to restore the harmonious flow of energy combating all points of dysfunction evoking the natural healing process of the city. Transformation of streetscapes, linear parks, accretions, and even open watercourses into spaces that are not just for means of production but also a catalyst to rejuvenate and enhance the glamour of cityscapes on every side to the very least of it.

BLOOM refers to the harmonious development of these spaces into a place of communal participation and enjoyment. This is a room for the public and the community to not just do, but also learn, enjoy and experience the revitalized districts. It is an opportunity for the people to reclaim the city and restore the sense of human scale and connection to the city itself through the pedestrianization and personalization of spaces. GROW, GLOW and BLOOM— is an avenue of endless ideals and aspirations of people and an opportunity to celebrate the glorious farming legacy that the city was once humbly planted as a seed of greatness.

Street vendors are being blamed for disorder and garbage on the streets, and are even suspected of being part of crime syndicates.

Their situation today is worsened by our general perception, making them all the more vulnerable.

Municipal authorities cleared the streets in divisoria for cars and to improve peoples lives but isn’t street vendors also people?

Street vendors are integral to people’s everyday lives in Metro Manila and vibrancy to cities. In response, New Divisoria will transform the Divisoria street market wherein hopes of street vendors and local policy co-exist in harmony, Transform recyclable materials on the streets into something beneficial to both environment and the economy, and maximize the minimum space by making the best use of spaces through utilizing streets for multiple activities, and apply transforming structures to be able to adapt on different occasions.

Maximizing the minimum space through space optimization is one thing but the other aspect is how this idea is made. In nature, for a species to survive or adapt the species must undergo change, its either physical, mental, or its behavior, and this process is called metamorphosis whereas in Urban spaces like Divisoria the place should undergo change in its physical form, social context, and local policies to bring back the vibrancy of the streets in Metro Manila.

This is where the Divisoria come into the new chapter. When there was once conflict between municipal authorities and street vendors, Now is Inclusive governance; Before was chaotic street vending, now is an organized plan for adapative street of Divisoria; when there was once unhygienic streets, Now is a clean and environment friendly Divisoria; when there was once obstructed paths in Divisoria, Now is a walkable street; when there was once no proper design of stalls for street vendors, Now is metamorphic stalls to be able to adapt in different occasions; and when there was once a overcrowded street, Today is Maximizing the minimum for a New Divisoria.

User Guide for stalls Vendors will be guided on how to transform stalls based on their needs and how to construct, collapse and store the stalls without the need of large equipments and construction workers.

Store Items that are dry can be stored in medians. there will be separated storage for the metamorphic stalls and items for vending. Storage are made up of recycled shipping containers with lock to be able to withstand harsh environment and secure item from thieves.

Take out Since not all items are dry or easily stored some items will be taking out especially foods that requires cold storage and not exposed to harsh environment. Most vendors in divisoria has their own kariton so taking out large amounts of item will be easy.

EXPLODED AXONOMETRIC The commercial stalls is built by recycled material and modular elements, expandable floors & modular foldable polycarbonate for windows, and adjustable joints and rotational couplers. The skeleton of the structure is made out of expandable recycled steel scaffolding with locking mechanism to be able to expand or make it small for easy storing. All of te structure element can easily be construct, dismantle and store when not in use.

Loisa Andalio’s House Redesign Redesigning Loisa Andalio’s house into brutalist architecture with the combination of lush green. Brutalist design simplicity makes the structure cost effective and much quicker to build. Unlike painted walls, bare concrete has never aging beauty. The unpaved setback allows us to put tropic garden in front giving a refreshing ambiance and also connect the inhabitant with nature. Hiding windows and slanting the angle of walls optimize natural lighting without the use of louvers or curtains.
