A Valley resident since the age of 5, Low has been a lifelong student of leadership development. “I’d attend a personal or professional seminar and get a charge or a spark of an idea from it,” she explains. “But with no follow-up and no next step, I’d move on to the next workshop or pick up a new book. I was always looking out for the one that stuck.”

Her business model was formulated around the philosophy that, to stretch beyond your current capabilities and become a more confident communicator and role model to others, you had to step outside your comfort zone and practice in a safe environment. An African Crested Porcupine, the Second Largest Rodent in the World at Wildlife World

The African Crested Porcupine is the second largest rodent in the world. Their quills are modified hairs made of keratin, which is the same thing that our hair and fingernails are made of. Contrary to popular belief, this porcupine does not 'shoot' their quills, but instead shakes their hollow tail quills to make a rattling sound in attempt to scare off predators. If that is unsuccessful, the porcupine with then run backward into the predator, at which time the predator will get the "point" and leave the porcupine alone!

Founded in 1983, Arizona’s first children’s oncology camp located outside of Payson learned that the very lifeblood of its funding source, which had been provided by the American Cancer Society up until that point, would no longer be available. A passionate group of camp supporters united in 2013 to found the 501(c)(3) nonprofit Southwest Kids’ Cancer Foundation. As the fundraising arm of Arizona Camp Sunrise and Sidekicks, children in Arizona and in the Southwest will continue to experience the fun and excitement of camp and its associated programs.

Arizona Camp Sunrise and Sidekicks offers a week of summer camp to children in Arizona and the Southwest who are battling or surviving cancer. There is also a week of summer camp for the siblings of those children and there are various exciting programs and excursions in which the children can participate throughout the year.

The camp experiences and its programs are provided free of charge to the families. Those who attend camp and take part in its programs are considered part of the Arizona Camp Sunrise and Sidekicks “campily.”

“Arizona Camp Sunrise and Sidekicks gives kids with cancer a chance to just be a kid, not the kid with cancer.

When they come to camp, they are with others who understand what they are going through. It is a safe place; a place where they are normal,” says Executive Director of Arizona Camp Sunrise and Sidekicks and board member of Southwest Kids’ Cancer Foundation Barb Nicholas.

Initially, there were 23 cancer patients and eight staff members in the White Mountains for the inaugural camp in 1983. Staff and children slept in tents and everyone assisted with cooking duties. In 1985, the camp moved to the R-C Scout Ranch, south of Payson. Thanks to the generous support of many, facilities now include seven cabins, a dining hall with a kitchen, and a health center.

Arizona Camp Sunrise and Sidekicks features nurses and doctors available around the clock to the campers.

Some of the fun things to do at camp include indoor and outdoor games, craft classes, archery, fishing, horseback riding, swimming, campfires and more. One of the camp highlights is the “Jell-O® War” where kids get sticky and gooey as they share in their dislike of Jell-O® that is often given to them when they are undergoing treatment in the hospital. No camper is safe from the onslaught of the gelatinous substance, which is flung in every direction.

Campers attending Arizona Camp Sunrise and Sidekicks often become lifelong friends and, as children get older, some return to the camp as volunteer staff.

“This camp is incredibly special. Volunteers plan for summer camp for months. They want camp to be a special experience for each child. The dedication I see is absolutely amazing,” Nicholas explains. The legacy of camp rests on the shoulders of Southwest Kids’ Cancer Foundation.

Natural Ways to Reduce Lyme Disease Risk The great outdoors can be a wonder to behold. Parks, nature preserves, or even some time spent in the backyard can help men, women and children reconnect with nature.

While there is plenty to enjoy about the great outdoors, certain hazards are lurking. Ticks can be both a nuisance and a danger, potentially contributing to illnesses like Lyme disease. Recognizing the dangers of ticks and how to avoid tick bites can help people reduce their risk for contracting Lyme disease.

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention note that, after hatching from eggs, ticks must eat blood at every stage to survive. It can take up to three years for a tick to complete its full life cycle, meaning it needs quite a few hosts to feed on.

Ticks are part of the arachnid family, but unlike spiders, ticks attach to the skin of an animal and suck its blood.

Ticks can be found just about anywhere, but they tend to gravitate toward wooded areas or tall grasses, which offer them protection and good vantage points to find an animal host. Dog owners have no doubt encountered ticks in their lifetimes, as ticks are routine problems for dogs that are not properly protected. But ticks also prey on humans.

Ticks are small and their bites are relatively painless, which can make it difficult for people to detect when they have been bitten. Many tick bites are harmless and do not require treatment. However, if bitten by a tick that is carrying Lyme disease or Rocky Mountain spotted fever, people may need to take an antibiotic to prevent any lasting health effects. As a result, people should always visit a doctor when bitten by a tick.

Pesticide repellants are some of the more effective and well-known methods to prevent tick bites and subsequent side effects. Many repellants can be used without negative side effects, but those who prefer to go a more natural route can take the following precautionary measures.

Watch habitats. Avoid grassy, wooded and brushy areas.

Ticks also prefer humid conditions.

Stick to trails. Stay on trails when hiking or walking to avoid brushing up against areas where ticks may be hiding out.

easier to spot ticks that may have made their way onto a person. Tuck pants into socks, as ticks tend to climb onto hosts from the ground up. Bare ankles provide easy access.

Protect hair and heads. Wear a hat and/or keep long hair contained so that it isn't an attractive hiding spot for ticks.

Shower immediately. After coming in from areas known for ticks, shower and launder clothing immediately. While showering, do a spot inspection looking for ticks on your body. Remember to look in hidden areas like under the arms, in and around the ears, inside the belly button, on the back of the knees, in and around the hair, between the legs and around the waist.

Clean up the yard. Make your yard less habitable to ticks by mowing the grass regularly and removing leaf litter and trim shrubs. Also, use wood chips or gravel to serve as a barrier between lawns and wooded areas of the property.

Use natural oils. Ticks may not like the smell of garlic, lemon, eucalyptus, lavender and rosemary, among others.

Dotting your body with these infused oils may make you less attractive to ticks.

Is Your Child Ready for Contact Lenses?

Contact lenses are a viable option for many people who require vision correction. Some find them more convenient than eyeglasses, and people who wear contact lenses are less likely to lose them or leave them behind than they are with traditional eyeglasses. Others feel contacts are more comfortable to wear and reduce the propensity for any blind spots in peripheral vision. While contacts are appropriate for many people, there are some limitations depending on the particular vision problem and age.

According to a study titled "Children & Contact Lenses" conducted by the American Optometric Association Research and Information Center in conjunction with the Sports Vision Section and Contact Lens and Cornea Section of AOA, with support from VISTAKONÂŽ, a division of Johnson & Johnson Vision Care, Inc., more than half (51 percent) of optometrists feel it is appropriate to introduce children to soft contact lenses between the ages of 10 and 12 years old, while nearly one in four (23 percent) feel 13 to 14 years old is a suitable age for a child to begin wearing contact lenses. The younger the child is, the lower the percentage of eye doctors who feel it is appropriate to introduce lenses.

Age alone may not be a reference for the appropriateness of contact lenses. Parents and eye doctors may take maturity into consideration as well. Contact lenses require a greater level of care than glasses, and parents should factor in that maintenance when deciding if their children should try contact lenses or stick with traditional eyeglasses. Younger children also may not be as dexterous as older contact lens wearers, making it challenging for them to insert and remove contacts safely and properly.

The Causes of Hiccups & How to Remedy Them Hiccups may not be a medical emergency, but they certainly can be a nuisance. Also known as, "singultus," hiccups can come out of nowhere and last for quite some time. An effective way to alleviate hiccups has proven elusive to many, forcing many people to ponder if they can be prevented.

According to the resource Kids Health, the funny noises and other annoying ticks associated with hiccups can be blamed in part on the diaphragm, a dome-shaped muscle at the bottom of the chest. When the diaphragm is working correctly, it helps to regulate breathing. In a contracted position, the diaphragm lets air into the lungs. When the diaphragm relaxes, the lungs release carbon dioxide.

Hiccups occur when the diaphragm starts contracting erratically and out of rhythm. These spasms can cause the larynx and vocal cords to close suddenly, resulting in a sharp intake of air and the hiccup chirp that occurs thereafter.

Hiccups can stop and start abruptly, for no reason at all.

But certain things may contribute to hiccups. These include: · Eating spicy food · Drinking carbonated beverages · Sudden changes in air temperature · Excitement or emotional stress

like multiple sclerosis or even brain injury. Hiccups also may last longer due to overuse of tobacco or alcohol.

Males tend to be more prone to hiccups than females.

· Swallowing too much air · Overeating Many cases of hiccups last only a few minutes, but for some people hiccups can last a while longer. Persistent hiccups are caused by injury or irritation to the nerves that control the movement of the diaphragm. How to Alleviate Eustachian Tube Problems

Ear problems come and go, and some may be the result of seasonal allergies or the accumulation of wax or water inside the ear canal.

But some ear problems originate deeper within the anatomy of the ear, in an area called the Eustachian tube. Dysfunction or clogging of the Eustachian tube can create different symptoms and problems that will need to be addressed.

Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas, says the Eustachian tube is a narrow tube that connects the middle ear to the back of the nose. Normally, this tube opens with every swallow or yawn to act as a pressure-equalizing valve for the middle ear. It also serves to drain the mucus produced by the lining of the middle ear. At times, the tube can get blocked, causing a negative pressure that draws the eardrum inward. When this occurs, dull or muffled hearing is sometimes evident, and individuals may feel pain and pressure.

Colds, sinus trouble, allergies, and other ailments can contribute to Eustachian tube dysfunction. The pressure change within the ear as well as a buildup of mucus can lead to trouble and a visit to a doctor. In many cases, Eustachian tubes will become clear again on their own.

However, some doctors will prescribe a decongestant nasal spray to help the process along. If an ear infection is suspected, antibiotics may be prescribed. Various all-natural remedies, such as holding one's nose and blowing to try to clear the congestion, can be attempted as well.

Strategies to Get Back in a Good Mood Adults know that life has its ups and downs. While it's important not to get too down when things don't go as planned, no one is immune to bad moods. But just because bad moods are a fact of life, that does not mean they cannot be combatted.

While bad moods are nothing to get too worried about, if such moods overstay their welcome, speak with a physician. According to the World Health Organization, depression is one of the most common mental disorders in the world, affecting an estimated 350 million people across the globe. There are various types of depression, and no two people are affected in the same way. That's an important distinction, as those who know someone with a history of depression may not recognize signs of depression in themselves if those symptoms don't mimic the signs they're familiar with.

But bad moods are not always indicative of depression.

In those instances when a bad mood is simply a bad mood, you can try a handful of strategies to get back in a good mood.

Exercise. Numerous studies have shown that exercises enhances mood. Anxieties about a life event or stress at work are two common contributors to bad moods.

According to the Anxiety and Depression Association of America, studies have shown that exercise can elevate mood and do so quickly, with some researchers suggesting that a 10-minute walk can be just as effective at relieving anxiety as a 45-minute workout. Studies have also shown that exercise can help combat stress by reducing fatigue, improving alertness, concentration and enhancing overall cognitive function.

Ignore alcohol or limit your consumption. Many people feel an alcoholic beverage relaxes them, and feeling relaxed can help improve mood. That initial feeling of relaxation is the result of alcohol affecting the chemical balance of the brain by depressing the part of the brain that governs inhibition. feel like you're on the way to a better mood, as alcohol begins circulating in the body, your stress levels may actually increase, and your bad mood may even intensify.

If you find yourself in a bad mood, resist turning to alcohol to improve mood, and limit your alcohol intake to a single drink during those times when you're in a bad mood.

Volunteer to help others. While more research is necessary before a definitive connection between volunteering and improved mental health can be established, researchers in England analyzed data from 40 published papers and found a link between volunteering and lower levels of depression. The review also found that volunteers reported increased life satisfaction and enhanced well-being.

Periodic bad moods are a part of life, but there are ways to limit their lifespan and get back to feeling good as quickly as possible.

Tame Wedding Day Nerves

When couples tie the knot, many changes are in store, many compromises will be made, and many lasting memories will be created. But in the weeks and months before their big days, couples can easily get caught up in the whirlwind of wedding planning, never taking inventory of their feelings until their wedding days have arrived.

Come their wedding days, couples should not be surprised if some nerves set in. A survey from the anxiety self-help resource The Fear Source indicated 71 percent of bridesto-be suffered from some type of nerves during the leadup to their weddings. Ninety-two percent of brides experienced nerves on the day of the wedding or the evening before, while 66 percent reported that it affected their daily lives prior to their weddings or hampered their performance and enjoyment during the day itself.

According to Psych Central, a modern online voice for mental health information, emotional support and advocacy, pre-wedding jitters are common and can be the subconscious telling a person that something needs to be remedied.

Wedding nerves do not mean a wedding is doomed; it just means certain issues may need to be worked through. The following are some ways to tame wedding day nerves.

Keep an open dialogue. Speak with your future spouse about the things that may be causing your anxiety. Maybe you have doubts on financial choices or where you will be living after the wedding. Communicating openly and honestly is one of the foundations of a strong relationship.

Slow down and breathe. Wedding planning involves making many decisions, and sometimes couples move at breakneck speeds. Make slowing down a priority. Try to enjoy a quiet dinner with just the two of you. When enjoying peaceful moments, take deep breaths, which can be calming and revitalizing. If need be, consider signing up for a yoga or tai chi class to force you to slow down.

Address performance anxiety. It's easy to build up the big day in your mind and hope that everything goes according to plan. But it's impossible to plan for each and every outcome on your wedding day. Focus on everything that can go right, rather than worrying about what might

go wrong. Also, realize that your guests are your friends and family members who will be forgiving of any hiccups along the way. You're bound to recover gracefully from any mishaps.

Work on confidence. Wedding fears may stem from inadequate self-confidence. Give yourself a pep talk and surround yourself with positive people. Keep the worrywarts at arms' length for the time being.

Recruit more help. Weddings are huge undertakings, so it's no surprise that couples sometimes feel overwhelmed.

Ask reliable relatives or friends to double-check all of the last-minute details. This way you don't feel it is all on your shoulders.

Good vision is an integral part of the learning process and should be evaluated to allow a child their best chance of academic success. Approximately 86 percent of children start school never having an eye examination.

There is a very strong correlation between vision and learning. A majority of learning comes through the eyes. It is important to note that good vision is not only that a child can see 20/20, but also that the eyes have good visual function. That means are the eyes working properly and are looking at the same place at the same time. Many children with “learning difficulties” have 20/20 vision in each eye, what they lack is the ability of the eyes to working well together. Parents and teachers should be aware of a few things, other than blurred vision that may indicate a visual problem.

A. Sleep-disordered breathing in children can result from swollen tonsils and/or adenoids, malocclusion (misalignment of the teeth) or swollen nasal passages.

Children who suffer from sleep-disordered breathing do not sleep well at night. Often, they cannot enter REM sleep because they are unable to get into a deep sleep without their body forcing them awake when their airway becomes obstructed.

As the body drifts to sleep, the airway relaxes. A healthy airway should not relax, but if the child has swollen tonsils or nasal problems, this relaxation can obstruct the airway and breathing causing the brain to wake up the body, resulting in excessive tiredness, and decreased concentration.

Sleep-disordered breathing in children may manifest as strange positions while sleeping (such as hanging their head off the edge of the bed or propping it up on pillows in order to be in the right position to breathe), overall crabbiness, headaches, difficulty waking, and/or bedwetting. It may also manifest itself as trouble concentrating— sometimes-serious conditions like Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).

However, not every child who has trouble concentrating is automatically suffering from ADHD. Trouble concentrating can be caused by everything from immaturity to a short attention span. Nevertheless, diagnoses of ADHD have risen exponentially in the last few years, as has the prescription of such drugs as Ritalin.

If your child experiences any of these have them evaluated by your optometrist or ophthalmologist.

All three programs are considered MSP’s and all three are provided by the state for Medicare beneficiaries with limited income and resources.

All MSP programs allow Medicare beneficiaries to have “open enrollment” year around meaning plan changes can be made anytime throughout the year with no restrictions.

Should Schools Reinforce Cursive Writing Skills?

Cursive writing lessons are disappearing from many schools.

How do you feel about this change? Cursive writing lessons were once mandatory in schools. Many adults can remember cursive writing lessons on lined paper and time spent practicing this aesthetically appealing style of writing.

But thanks to technology and a growing reliance on computers to complete school assignments, handwriting skills are no longer stressed as much as they once were. In fact, some children never receive cursive writing instruction.

The absence of cursive writing lessons has led to a heated debate. Some people feel cursive writing is archaic and a waste of time, while others believe it is a relevant skill.

Here is a look at both sides of the debate.

The pros of cursive writing Various experts and educators have weighed in on the lasting benefits of cursive handwriting. Here are just a few of the benefits proponents of cursive writing point to.

Cursive writing stimulates the brain. "Cursive writing

helps train the brain to integrate visual and tactile information, and fine motor dexterity," Dr. William Klemm said in an article in Psychology Today. The skills developed from learning cursive writing cannot be replaced by using a keyboard. In addition, MRIs have revealed an interesting relationship between handwriting and the brain. The brains of people with good handwriting are more active in areas associated with cognition, language, and executive function than the brains of those with poor handwriting.

The cons of cursive writing There are various reasons why people think lessons in cursive writing are unnecessary.

The benefits of music education extend far beyond getting kids to tap their toes. The National Association for Music Education lists the following benefits among the many reasons to support music education in schools.

Music training helps develop language skills. Studies

have shown that music training contributes to the physical development of the part of the left side of the brain associated with processing language. A 2005 study from researchers at Stanford University found that mastering a musical instrument may also improve reading skills, which can benefit students both inside and outside the classroom.

Music training can improve hand-eye coordination.

Studies have linked long-term music training to improved hand-eye coordination. That is likely connected to the motor skills children develop when playing musical instruments.

Without those instruments, those motor skills may not develop as strongly.

Music improves concentration. Even students who cannot play a musical instrument can still benefit academically from simply listening to music. In 2007, a research team from the Stanford University School of Medicine found that music engages the areas of the brain involved with paying attention.

Today's students deal with numerous distractions, from smartphones to tablets to social media, but those who routinely listen to certain types of music might find it easier to block out those distractions and focus on their work.

Music can improve self-esteem. In a study examining

117 fourth-grade students attending public school in Montreal, a researcher at the University of Texas at Austin found that children who received piano lessons weekly for three years had higher self-esteem than children who were not given piano lessons during the same period. Neither group had participated in formal music instruction before the study, and students in both groups reported similar levels of self-esteem prior to participating in the study.

How to Treat Muscle Cramps & Prevent Their Recurrence Rare is the athlete who has not had the misfortune of suffering a muscle cramp. Muscle cramps can range from the relatively minor nuisances that can be worked out in a matter of minutes to the more severe cramps that can sideline athletes for an indeterminate period.

According to the U.S. National Library of Medicine, muscle cramps are often the byproduct of an overused or injured muscle. When a muscle cramps that muscle is involuntarily contracting, and that contraction can be very painful. Because athletes tend to repeat their motions when performing exercises, it's not uncommon for athletes to cramp up from time to time. But even men and women who live sedentary lifestyles can suffer from muscle cramps, which the NLM notes could be triggered by alcoholism, hypothyroidism or kidney failure. Women may suffer muscle cramps when they are pregnant or menstruating.

Certain medications may also cause muscle cramps. Men and women concerned about muscle cramps should read the potential side effects of their medications carefully or speak directly with their physicians before taking any medicines that may cause muscle cramps. The online medical resource WebMD notes that medications such as Lasix, a diuretic used to remove fluid from the body, and Crestor, a statin prescribed to adults with high cholesterol, can cause muscle cramps.

While dehydration and electrolyte depletion has long been linked to exercise-associated muscle cramps, researchers have been questioning, if not disputing that link for many years. A 2008 study from South African researchers published in the British Journal of Sports Medicine did not support a link between exercise-associated muscle cramps and dehydration or electrolyte depletion.

Muscle cramps tend to be painful and can occur in the legs, hands, arms, or abdomen or along the rib cage. When cramps occur below the waist, such as in the calf muscle, it can be difficult to stand up.

Treating muscle cramps Muscle cramps require immediate treatment so sufferers can alleviate the pain and/or discomfort cramps can cause.

Massaging the cramped muscle or applying ice or heat can alleviate the cramp and its associated pain.

on the affected leg and bending the knee slightly. Such cramps may also be treated by sitting or lying down with the affected leg straight out and pulling the foot toward the head.

To treat quadriceps cramps (those that occur in the front of the thigh), hold on to something steady, and pull the foot of the affected leg back toward the buttock.

Preventing future cramps One of the most effective ways to prevent future cramps is to listen to your body when it's sending you signals that it is fatigued. Overused muscles are vulnerable to cramps, so remember to include rest in your exercise regimen so muscles have time to recover. If your body feels overtaxed or fatigued before or during a workout, skip the workout or stop it immediately to reduce your risk of cramps or injury.

Deficiencies in certain vitamins can directly or indirectly lead to muscle cramps. While the reasons behind the link between thiamine, pantothenic acid and pyridoxine deficiencies and muscle cramps is unknown, speak with your physician about how to include these vitamins in your diet if you have been experiencing muscle cramps.

Cramps can be painful and derail athletes. Learning to prevent cramps can protect athletes and ensure they are not sidelined from their favorite activities.

Ways Men & Women Metabolize Food Differently

Men and women process food differently. When dieting side by side, men appear to shed pounds easier and more quickly than women do. But is that really the case?

According to Greg Caporaso, assistant professor in the Department of Biological Sciences at Northern Arizona University and assistant director of the Center for Microbial Genetics and Genomics, diet affects men and women's stomach microbes differently, even when identical foods have been eaten.

In addition, according to the paper "Lower sedentary metabolic rate in women compared with men," R. Ferraro, S. Lillioja, A. M. Fontvieille, R. Rising, C. Bogardus, and E. Ravussin, affiliated with the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases and National Institutes of Health, Phoenix, and published in The Journal of Clinical Investigation, on average, women's total energy expenditure, which is the number of calories burned for metabolic needs, including breathing, blood circulation, digestion and physical activity, is around 5 to 10 percent lower than men's.

The composition of the female body also differs from the composition of the male body. Men have more muscle mass and less body fat than women, which also can contribute to how easily men may be able to shed weight. Maintaining that muscle mass can push their metabolisms even further.

According to the Poliquin Group, producers of unique weight training fitness programs and supplements, the following factors also come into play. 路 At rest, women burn more glucose (sugars and starches) but less fat than men do. 路 Men and women burn and store body fat differently. 路 Stress can inhibit fat loss in women. 路 Diet trends, including fasting and calorie restriction, tend to be more beneficial for men than women.

Recognize & Prevent Repetitive Stress Injuries Repetitive stress injuries, or RSIs, can impact muscles, ligaments, tendons and nerves. Though The Mayo Clinic estimates that 3 million people in the United States are affected by such injuries, some may not fully understand just how they reached a point where they are suffering from an RSI. RSIs are a condition that occurs when too much stress is placed on one part of the body, typically a joint, repeatedly, resulting in inflammation and potential tissue damage.

RSIs typically happen when a person repeats the same movements again and again. It comes as no surprise then that RSIs are commonly experienced by athletes and office workers.

The elderly are most affected by RSIs, but these types of injuries are also known to occur in younger adults and children. These injuries tend to develop over time and tend go unnoticed in their early stages.

Prevention is the best defense against RSIs. Start by using proper equipment at all times to help keep the body protected and in neutral positions. Such equipment may include support devices for wrists or knees, and shoes that fit well and provide ample support.

· Feet should be flat on the floor or on a footrest.

Athletes should make sure their gear is properly sized to their bodies. Using the wrong size tennis racket, for example, may contribute to elbow strain when serving and hitting.

· Support your back with a lumbar support or a small pillow.

Proper nutrition also is key. Consuming the right foods is essential to developing and maintaining strong muscles, which help support joints in the body. Speak with a doctor or nutritionist if you suspect your diet has room for improvement.

· Keep frequently used items close by so you do not need to stretch.

RSIs can be troublesome for office workers. Maintaining neutral body positioning is the best defense against pain and injury, according to the pain prevention resource Tifaq.com. Tifaq.com suggests following these procedures in addition to stretching and exercising at the office:

· Take frequent breaks to stretch or take a walk around the office.

· Keep your head level, forward facing and in line with your torso.

· Shoulders can be relaxed and arms hanging normally at your sides. Your elbows should be at about 90-degree angles.

· Sit vertically or lean back slightly while at your desk.

· Position your monitor so it is directly in front of you and at eye level.

Examples of RSIs include carpal tunnel syndrome, rotator cuff injuries, tendonitis and trigger finger. Always consult with a doctor if pain from routine activities is persistent.

Individuals may benefit from working with a physical therapist to learn strategies to avoid RSI activities.

How to Build a Strong Professional Network

Get active in your industry. Being active in your industry by joining professional organizations and attending seminars and other industry events is a great way to expand your network. people affiliated with your alma mater, the ice has already been broken in a sense, as the school is essentially a built-in connection.

Reynolds is not only Lively’s husband but also her inspiration for taking on her starring role in “The Shallows,” according to Entertainment Weekly.

“My husband did a movie called ‘Buried’ and that was one of the reasons why I wanted to take on this movie so much, because I know how tough that was for him and how rewarding it was,” she revealed to the magazine.

“It was terrifying and one of the most vulnerable things you can do but you gotta do it, right?”

If there’s one constant in Lively’s busy life, it’s Reynolds. The actor has no problem continuously declaring his love for his leading lady to the media on multiple occasions.

“When I wrapped ‘Deadpool’ five weeks ago, within an hour - I’m not joking, I still had chunks of glue from the scar makeup on my face - I was boarding a plane to Bangkok so I could get to my wife and baby right away,” he told Us Magazine. “I’ll do anything to be with them.”

Understand the Mechanics Behind a Saltwater Filter Summer is pool season. Come spring, homeowners prepare their backyard pools for several months of leisurely floating or engaging games of aquatic volleyball. This preparation includes uncovering the pool and rebalancing the pool's chemical levels.

Pool preparation and maintenance also includes installing a working filter. While there, are many different types of pool filters and filter mediums, in recent years, saltwater filter systems have been growing in popularity. Consumers who want to upgrade to a saltwater system may be interested in learning a bit more about how such systems work.

Saltwater systems are those in which chlorine is generated by the system itself. These systems do not usually require the addition of a powdered or liquid form of chlorine. Electrolysis occurs thanks to a chemical process that involves pool water passing through a salt cell and being exposed to a low-voltage current. This essentially breaks up the sodium chloride molecules (salt) into hypochlorous acid and sodium hypochlorite, which are sanitizing agents. Therefore, saltwater systems are not chlorine-free. They just produce chlorine from a less caustic material.

One of the main advantages to a saltwater system is the constant generation of free chlorine. Pool water chemistry is often broken down into FC (free chlorine) and CC (combined available chlorine). FC is yet untouched chlorine that can do its sanitizing job. CC contains chlorine and chloramines, which are produced when the chlorine comes in contact with urine, sweat and other contaminants present in the pool. CC is what contributes to the "chlorine smell" of the water. When there isn't enough FC and there's too much CC, pool water levels need to be returned to optimal conditions, usually through a shocking process. However, with saltwater systems, there's always an abundance of FC being delivered into the water, making levels super chlorinated, and these systems eliminate the formation of CC. chemicals, as they produce nearly neutral pH levels. This isn't always the case with other chlorine sources, which can raise or lower pH or add to the presence of other substances, such as calcium, in the water with calcium hypochlorite sanitizers.

Because these saltwater filtration and chlorine-generating systems are relatively automatic, they also can mean less maintenance. This is handy for homeowners who go on vacation or do not want to be hassled by the daily care other systems may require.

One of the disadvantages to saltwater systems is the cost, which can be prohibitive to some people. According to Thursday Pool Manufacturing, installing the average system costs anywhere from $800 to $2,000. But some feel that cost is offset by the money saved on pool chemicals over the course of a season.

Switching to a chlorine-generating saltwater filtration system can be a worthwhile investment for many pool owners.

Tires · Underinflated tires create excessive heat and stress that can lead to a blowout. · According to the Rubber Manufacturers Association, 85 percent of drivers don’t know how to properly inflate their tires. · To get the most accurate pressure reading, check tires when they’ve been driven less than a mile. · The minimum acceptable tread depth is 3/32 inch, which is about the distance from the edge of a penny to the top of Abe Lincoln’s head, but you don’t want to strive for the minimum during an Arizona summer. · It is important to remember if you haul a trailer for a boat or recreational vehicle to have the tires checked.

Many drivers overlook these tires and they can cause a very scary or even deadly accident.

Batteries · Heat evaporates battery fluids, which can speed up corrosion. · Batteries last an average of 30 months in the Arizona heat. · If your car’s battery is more than 2 years old, you should test it now to make sure it’ll last through the entire summer. azhealthandliving.com | July 2016

Senior Dating Trends and Tips Finding love again is possible for seniors who get back into the dating scene. The first Baby Boomers will be turning 70 in 2016, and this generation remains one of the most influential in the country and around the world. Scores of products and services are now marketed to seniors, many of whom remain as active and socially aware as they were in their youth.

One aspect of senior marketing that is booming is dating and relationship products. Singles age 50 and older are increasingly relying on online dating sites and other methods to find love and companionship. Dating is no longer kids' play, and those who have been away from dating for some time may have to be reacquainted with the process in the modern age.

Consider online dating Data from Pew Research found one in two divorced or widowed seniors had remarried in 2013, and that trend figures to continue. Many seniors are using online dating sites to find their new matches. While websites geared to dating make it easier to get in touch with fellow singles, the relative anonymity of the process can make it challenging to separate the truth from some self-promoting hype on dating profiles.

Begin by relying on dating sites that have been tested and recommended. One to try is the AARP dating site partnered with How About We. In addition to its simplicity and small financial commitment, the site caters to the over 50 crowd and is backed by the AARP name. It's good for those looking for an activity partner as well as casual dating. Popular sites Match.com and eHarmony.com also boast high percentages of users age 50 and up.

Even after thorough consideration and conversation, online daters should exercise caution when meeting someone online and then in person. Profiles aren't always what they seem, and it's easier to fudge the facts when initiating contact over the Internet.
