Ema, It’s time to start your eclectic experience at The Moma. The MOMA stands as a towering beacon of artistic innovation and creativity. The museum was founded in 1929 by the wealthy philanthropist Abby Aldrich Rockefeller, Lilli P. Bliss, and Mary Quinn Sullivian, who envisioned using the space to showcase modern arts biggest influences. Its inaugural collection features pioneering works from artists such as Vincent Van Gogh, Henri Matisse, Pablo Picasso, and Andy Warhol. The museum’s influence grew alongside the physical size of the museum, with expansions and renovations done by notable architects such as Philip Johnson and Yoshio Taniguchi. Nowadays, the MOMA is a modern blend of art, film, design, and more, inspiring young artists. The exhibit you will be visiting today is called Crafting Modernity, Design in Latin America, 1940-80. While looking through the exhibit, I want you to use our sketchbook to create some sketches of anything that interests you. Next up, donuts! I know how special of a memory getting donuts with your mum for your family is, so I wanted to create the same feeling in your new home. Dough’s Donuts has become a beloved institution in New York specializing in artisanal donuts. It was founded in 2010 by Fany Gerson and her husband, and originated in a shop in brooklyn. The couple envisioned the donut store to be a place food and art can intertwine. For this location I have attached a QR code that will bring you to a quiz that will tell you what type of donut you are. Lastly on this eclectic experience, we have the iconic Strand bookstore! The Strand Bookstore is a booklovers paradise nestled into the heart of Manhattan’s EastVillage located at 828 Broadway. It was established in 1927 by Benjamin Bass filling the store with new, old, and used books creating a store filled with treasures for all readers. The Strand’s famous 18 Miles of Books creates a journey through literary history, from classic and contemporary classics, to obscure books and new authors, there is something for everyone here.
