Evacuation
If an incident occurs which is beyond our control, it is important that you are aware of how we intend to look after you in the event of an emergency.
As part of our Safety management, we have employed professionally trained and experienced stewards and you will see them at various points throughout the racecourse. In the event of a situation, which requires partial or full evacuation of the stands or racecourse, announcements will be broadcast and stewards will undertake the responsibility of ushering you to a place of safety; it is essential that you follow their instructions. Please take your immediate belongings with you and proceed out of the area quickly and calmly with the guidance of the stewards The evacuation procedures have been carefully planned to lead you to a safe area Should it be necessary to evacuate the course itself, there will be two main options; firstly to return to your vehicles if safe to do so and leave via the main entrance Secondly, should it not be safe to return to your vehicles, you will be requested to leave via emergency evacuation gates, onto the racecourse itself, where you will receive further instructions. It may give you peace of mind if you pre plan and agree a meeting place, just in case you become separated from your party. The above is precautionary only and we trust that the procedures will never be required. However, in the event of an emergency, remember;
• Take your belongings with you.
• Under the directions of the stewards, proceed quickly and calmly to the safe area.
Broken glasses and bottles are dangerous. In the interests of safety and the comfort of others please do not carry drinks or food on to the steppings of the stand, or the areas adjacent to the parade ring or unsaddling enclosure. It is our standard practice to erect screens around any horse or jockey requiring attention on the course as this provides privacy and a safe, calm environment in which to accurately diagnose and treat the patient as necessary. Please do not assume the worst if screens are erected around a horse. Star Ratings Explained
Each horse has been given a star rating, these are defined below: S Br
HHHHH Selected to win the race
HHHHI Good chance of being placed
HHHII By no means out of the reckoning but at least one or two hold stronger claims
HHIII Unlikely to win but not totally without hope
HIIII Can be given little or no chance.
The BHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability. The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent form under its optimum conditions
A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring any penalties or allowances). The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in nonhandicaps races the rating shown is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were confirmed Any subsequently published change to a rating, either up or down, is shown in brackets following the rating For novice steeple chasers, the latest hurdle race rating may be shown until such time as the Handicappers allot a separate steeple chase rating Such ratings are prefixed by the letter h.
WELCOME TO THE ASCONA GROUP LADIES DAY 2025!
This race day has become one of the biggest Social Events in the West Wales Calendar, and this one is going to be bigger and better than ever!
Firstly can I say a big thank you to our main sponsors on the day Ascona Group, who continue to do West Wales proud on the national stage by growing from strength to strength as a business.
Their continued support of Ffos Las racecourse in West Wales is genuinely appreciated, and we are proud to welcome their guests and team members here today.
SO WHAT WE HAVE IN STORE FOR YOU TODAY THEN?
I hope you enjoyed our Dixie Jazz Band on your way in, and to start the afternoon off in the right way, we have half price draught drinks and £10 off a bottle of wine available in Blinkers and McCoys Bar for the first hour after gates open. Yes you read correctly we have HALF PRICE DRAUGHT DRINKS AND £10 OFF A BOTTLE OF WINE FOR THE FIRST HOUR ON LADIES DAY!, we are doing this as a big thank you for the brilliant support you have given us over the years in making our Ladies Day so special.
Then, we have a unique selfie opportunity at our “Lost and Misplaced” horsebox near the McCoys suite, where its been decorated by using all the Hats ,Fascinators Scarves and other misplaced property left here over the last year, It really looks unique , worth seeing and when you take a selfie there with your friends , please upload it to one of our social media sites and you could win hospitality to a race day of your choice for two people worth £200.
Look out for our “Best Dressed” spotters who will be picking finalists for the best Dressed Lady and Gentleman, both kindly sponsored by Venetia Steele Boutique and Dress for the Occasions Haverfordwest and the winners will get £500 vouchers. The spotters will be everywhere, and will hand you a special ticket if you are picked, then all the finalists will be on stage just after the third race, where the worthy winners will be picked by our team of judges.
Also please don’t forget every race today is being covered live by Sky Sports Racing, therefore there’s a very good chance you will be seen by over 350,000 viewers in the UK.
If you are in the Winning Post Marquee, you will be treated to the brilliant Phil Harmonics Ladies Choir before racing, and Blinkers Bar will have the Scarlets Choir performing as well
The “on stage” entertainment starts at 12.30 before racing with the Brilliant “Heidi Heights” Drag Artist live on stage to get the party really started. Then after six great races we will have the fantastic DMF live on stage taking us back to the sounds of Ibiza. These guys really have to be seen to be believed! And then topping the bill, from 6.20pm we have Matthew Horne on a DJ set which will blow your mind!
So enjoy and I hope you have another great Ladies Day at Ffos Las and lets make it another one to remember! Remember, you really cant beat a great day at the races!
Yours in Racing
