SCENE 1 DAY Madelyn’s House

Cast: Richard, Madelyn, Amy, Jessica

AMY

“Are you still hungry?” JESSICA “I’m soooo full.”

AMY “Okay jess.”

Madelyn seems panicked looking for her things, Jessica almost finished her breakfast. They’re almost late for school. Richard and Amy are busy preparing their lunch.

JESSICA (Jessica folding her arms, annoyed) “Where's Madelyn??? We’re going to be late.”

MADELYN

(Madelyn sitting on a chair, checking her bag) “Hellooo,good morning guys. Hold on, where's that book?”

(Searching for a book)

AMY (Amy leaving the table, going to wash the dishes) "You’re only wasting your time! She’s been waiting for you."

JESSICA

(Jessica staring at Madelyn)

"Gosh you’re very slow and annoying. I am so grateful to have a sister like you." (Said Jessica sarcastically)

MADELYN

"What did you say? YOU are annoying! Well at least I'm smarter than you lil sis."

RICHARD

(Richard joins them after cooking)

"Heyyy c’mon girls. Madelyn hurry, go get your things."

JESSICA (Jessica still annoyed because Madelyn still busy searching for her stuff) "See? She keeps on doing her stuff!”

MADELYN

"Jessica!!! Stop complaining.I’m still looking for my diary.”

(Jessica found it on the couch, giving it to Madelyn)

JESSICA

“I don’t think you ever need a boyfriend. Just date your diary.”

MADELYN

(Madelyn joins them for breakfast) “Oh Thank God.”

AMY

“Maddy, is that important to you?”

MADELYN

“You know I can't live without it.”

RICHARD

“Madelyn, you should change your bad habits.”

MADELYN

“Okay, Dad. I’ll try.”

AMY

“Jessica, what do you want for lunch?”

JESSICA

“Anything. I’ll eat whatever you cook, cus’ you’re such a pro, not like her.”

(Teasing Madelyn)

RICHARD

“Tadaaa! Madelyn, Jessica milk or water?”

MADELYN

“Just water please.”

JESSICA “Yeah, same.”

MADELYN

“Stop copying me!”

JESSICA

“So? What’s the problem”

AMY

“Guys, come on. You’re not kids anymore. Stop being childish.”

JESSICA

“She started it. Why does she have to be so slow?”

AMY

Maddy, you shouldn't be late again tomorrow, okay? Everyone's also gonna be late because of you.”

JESSICA

“Maddy, you shouldn't be late again tomorrow, okay?” (Following Amy)

MADELYN

“What's wrong with you, Jess?”

JESSICA

There's nothing wrong with me. What is wrong with you? You're always late!”

MADELYN

“But you know I ”

RICHARD

“Enough! Jess, bring your bag and Maddy, don’t forget your lunch!”

They finished their breakfast

AMY

“Goodluck sisters. Hey Maddy, you forgot something!”

Amy runs to Madelyn

SCENE 2 DAY Cafeteria

It’s not break time yet but Madelyn is already at the cafeteria.

Madelyn sits on the bench and takes out the medicine she kept in her pocket.

MADELYN

“When can I pass this phase? It's okay Maddy, you can go through it.” After Madelyn finished taking medicine, Madelyn opened her diary.

MADELYN

“Dear Mom, the weather’s nice today, what are you doing up there? Are you happy? I hope you are. Still can’t believe it’s been almost 2 years since you went away. It’s hard for me, and I just ”

Clara comes in with a guy. Madelyn saw Clara flirting with him. But suddenly..

MADELYN

(Madelyn panic)

“Nick?! NICK “Sttt!” MADELYN

“Wait, isn't that Clara?” NICK “Yeah i know.”

# BELL IS RINGING

Clara and that guy leave after the bell’s ringing. Nick follows them, leaving Madelyn.

MADELYN

“Huh.. that was close. Where’s that girl Cath? I needa search for her.”

Madelyn’s about to walk but she stopped because of Zach.

ZACH

“Where do you wanna go?”

MADELYN “Uhm.. there.”

ZACH

“Okay, then I'll go right there.”

Cath suddenly comes.

CATH “HEEYYY!!!”

MADELYN “HEEYYY!!!”

CATH

“What’s up?”

MADELYN

“I’m good. Where have you been?”

CATH “I’m looking for you.”

MADELYN

“Me too!”

CATH (Cath sitting beside Madelyn) “Okay let’s have a sit. Here, you want some? My mom’s.” (Cath handed the food)

MADELYN

“Yeah, sure.

It tastes really good. My mom used to make it for me. I kinda miss her..”

CATH

“Oh.. I’m so sorry, I didn't mean to.” (Patting Madelyn’s shoulder to comfort her)

Zach come in to share the camping brochure, approach Madelyn.

ZACH

“Oh just in time.”

MADELYN

“Hey Zach, what’s up?”

ZACH

“How’s your holiday Madelyn?”

MADELYN

“Hm.. not bad. What’s that?”

CAMEO

“Oh yeah, don’t forget to join the camp!”

CATH

“What? Oh no..” ZACH

“It’s gonna be lit. Are you guys coming?”

MADELYN

“Uhm… I’m not sure, what about you Cath?”

CATH

“Nope. But, we’ll see.”

CAMEO

“Come on, you have to! Oh I gotta share it with others, I’ll see you later!”

ZACH

“Okay, see you later!”

(Zach sitting and talking with Madelyn)

Megan and Cheryl come in.

MEGAN

(Megan runs to Zach) “Babe!, look. Isn’t she hot?”

ZACH (Zach stand up) “Lemme see. Nah, you look more!”

MEGAN

“Are you sure? She’s hot tho and she got so many likes.”

ZACH

“No babyyy, stop comparing yourself to her. YOU. ARE. BEAUTIFUL.”

CHERYL

“What are yall talking about?”

(Megan showing a pict to Cheryl)

MEGAN

“What do you think of her?”

CHERYL

“She ate it. And Zach, I know you’re lying. You feel bad for her, right?”

MEGAN

“Babe, is that true?!”

ZACH

“Okay, I ain't gon’ lie. She’s pretty but from my deepest heart my baby is still the most beautiful girl I've ever met in my life.”

(Madelyn dan Cath staring at them feeling cringe)

Megan pulls Zach’s hand and they sit on the other bench.

MEGAN

“Babe why did you sit next to her?”

ZACH

“I was just giving the camp brochure.”

CHERYL

“Lemme see.”

MEGAN

“Oh. Thought you were flirting with her.”

ZACH

“No babyyy. I won’t ever do that.”

CHERYL

“Ew! Stop it you guys!”

Nick and Clara come in. CLARA “Honey, I can explain!”

NICK (Nick pushes Clara’s hand away) “Explain what? You’re being sneaky, Clara. Too tired of all your bullshit.”

CLARA “I swear to God, he’s just a friend. Don’t be ridiculous.”

NICK

“Me? Being ridiculous? Girl you better watch your words. I clearly saw you make out with him Clara, just be real.”

CLARA

“We were only talking about the assignment okay? And he asked me for help, so what am I supposed to do with that? Then I ”

NICK

“You know what? I’m tired. We’re done.”

CLARA (Clara holds Nick’s hand) “Nick, please.”

NICK “Enough!”

Nick sighs while staring at Madelyn.

NICK

“I don’t need this anymore.”

(He throws away the watch Clara gave him, then leave)

CLARA

“Wait what?! Nick!!”

Zach, Megan and Cheryl run to Clara.

ZACH

“I think I might need to talk to him. I’ll be right back.”

MEGAN

“OH MY GOD?! Girl, he must be kidding, right?”

CHERYL

“How could he do that to you? Tell us what happened.”

CLARA

“He knows everything.”

MADELYN “Clara, are you okay?”

CLARA

“What?! Stop acting like you actually care about me!”

CHERYL

(Megan wraps her hand around Clara’s shoulder)

“It’s okay. You don’t have to cry over spilt milk. Come on, let’s go.”

Clara, Megan and Cheryl leave.

BELL IS RINGING CATH

“What did I just see? Why was she so mad at you? It’s so weird.”

MADELYN

“I have no idea. I was just trying to be nice to her. Okay Cath, let’s go to class.”

Madelyn and Cath are about to leave but Madelyn step on something, Nick’s watch

SCENE 3 NIGHT- Madelyn’s House

MADELYN

“Dear Mom, I think I’m in love. I can feel the butterflies in my stomach. I’m sure you’ve been there before, when you fell in love with dad. He never told me about how you met or your love story in general. Is it okay if I make the first move? I’m so confused mom, is it better to keep it in or let it out? You must be shocked. What do you think, mom? Should i keep the letters or ”

JESSICA (Jessica lying on Madelyn’s bed)

“Madelyn, I got some new series! Let’s stay up all night! Waaaait… Maddy, who’s that?”

AMY

“Is that your boyfriend?”

MADELYN “Uhmm.. what.. no..”

AMY

“Maddy.. Maddy.. look at your room. you’re just being yourself, messy all the time.”

MADELYN

“Sorry, I’ll clean up, okay?”

Madelyn quickly hides her letter under the pillow when Jessica and Amy come in.

AMY

“Btw, have you taken this?”

MADELYN

“Oh no, I forgot. Nah, JK. Of course, Maam.”

Jess grabs the photo from Maddy, they chase each other.

JESSICA

“Whoaaa he’s so fine. I’m not sure he would like you.”

MADELYN

(Madelyn throws a pillow at Jessica) “Jessica! Stop!! Give it back!!”

JESSICA

“Told ya. You gotta date someone so you won’t be alone!”

MADELYN

“Kiddo, what do you know about love?”

Madelyn and Jessica are chasing each other, Amy just staring at them, shaking her head.

MADELYN

“How dare you! Stop making a mess! Give it back!!”

JESSICA

“Amy look! It's Maddy's boyfriend!”

Amy sees the photo.

AMY

“Hmm.. he looks familiar.”

Jess & Maddy chasing each other again.

Richard and Justin come in.

RICHARD

(Richard wrap his arm around Justin’s shoulder)

“Amy, someone’s here for you. Hey, what are you guys doing? Maddy, Jess stop!”

Jessica is hiding behind Amy.

JUSTIN

“Howdy! Jessica, I brought you something.”

(Give Jessica a teddy) JESSICA (Jessica hugging the teddy) “Awwww thank youuuu.”

MADELYN

“Where’s mine?”

JUSTIN

“I’m pretty sure I put it somewhere..”

RICHARD

“What are you up to? There must be something.”

JUSTIN

“Whoa i never know you’re good at guessing. Yeah, I wanna pick up Amy and take her to a party. Can I?”

RICHARD (Richard wrapping his arms)

“Nope! Unless you also bring that teddy for me.”

JUSTIN

“Okay, I promise you. Do you want the biggest one?”

AMY

“Dad, come on, you’re in your 50s. Do you also want me to buy you a lollipop?”

RICHARD

“Hahahahaha okay. But remember no drinks, no drugs, no hands and come home early. Got it?”

JUSTIN

“Yes sir!”

(Said Justin respectfully)

JESSICA

“Oh how I wish I had a boyfriend. See? Madelyn, you gotta find a man.”

MADELYN

“Don’t challenge me, I’ll find a hot guy!”

AMY

“You’ve already found it, right?”

JUSTIN

“Really? Who’s that lucky guy?”

MADELYN “Uhm.. No.. I haven’t..”

AMY

“I’m gonna get dressed, bye everyone, don’t be jelly.”

JESSICA (Teasing)

“Oh I just remember, I also gotta do something. Bye Maddy! Don’t be mad.”

Madelyn throws a pillow at Jessica.

RICHARD

“Since it’s gonna take a while for Amy, let’s have some coffee.”

Madelyn is grateful that her room is empty again. Madelyin sits in her place again and opens her diary .

MADELYN

“Well you know I love to write, especially writing letters to all the boys I’ve liked. But I don’t have the courage to tell them, so I keep it to myself. Do you remember the guy who was being crazy over his girlfriend? That’s Zach. He was my childhood friend and my first crush. He has a great sense of humor and as you can see, he’s so sweet. The second was Justin. We're the same age and we also went to the same school. He lives next door and he is also Amy’s boyfriend. We’ve been close since we were kids but it turns out he likes Amy. So I just let them and they’re still dating until now. But the letters we’re not only for them. I also wrote it to someone that I’ve liked since freshman year and still even until now. Yeah, it’s Nick. He’s popular and such a girl magnet. If you wonder which one, it’s that guy who was arguing with his girlfriend earlier. But I’m still curious if they are still dating or not, because he seemed mad”

SCENE 4

DAY - Basketball Field

Madelyn has just arrived.

MADELYN

"I’m still wondering what’s going on with Nick and Clara. Wait, why do I have to think about it? But if they really broke up, should I just give the letter to him?"

(Madelyn talk to herself while taking out the letter from her bag, she is staring emptily while thinking about the letter)

# The sound of a basketball screeching, stops in front of Madelyn's feet.

NICK

(Nick waving his hand) "What’s up?"

MADELYN

"Uhm.. Nick?"

NICK

(Nick says a bit loudly) "Sorry, can you pass the ball?”

MADELYN

(Madelyn was so nervous she didn’t realize the ball that was at her feet)

“U uh the ball? Where?”

NICK

(Nick comes closer while bringing the ball, sees the letter in Madelyn’s hand) “This ball. Hey, what’s that?”

MADELYN

(Madelyn quickly hides the letter) "Uhm.. nothing!”

(Nick sits beside Madelyn whilst drinking from Madelyn’s bottle)

MADELYN

(Madelyn tries to reach for the bottle but Nick avoids)

“What the that’s my drink! Why don’t you ask me first?”

NICK

“Man, I’m so thirsty, but thank you Madelyn Cooper. Sheez..you look perfect with that outfit!”

MADELYN

(Madelyn steals the bottle from Nick’s hand) “eee.. thank you. but,I gotta go." Nick stops her.

NICK "Hold on hold on."

MADELYN

“What? You want another sip?”

NICK

"Oh no no no, don’t get me wrong.”

MADELYN

"So? Okay I gotta go."

NICK (Pleading)

"Can you please help me?"

MADELYN "Help you what?"

NICK

"You know, I just broke up with Clara cus she cheated on me but she’s still crazy over me. That really pissed me off. So, I think it would be great if we do fake dating. Are you down for it?”

MADELYN "No "

NICK

"Please, I’m begging you. This is the only way Clara could get over me. Madelyn, you’re the only way."

MADELYN

“I don’t wanna be in this drama. I’m out. Also here’s your ”

Musical : Clara, Megan, Cheryl come in.

NICK (Nick looks at madelyn)

"Babe I can’t wait for our date. I bet you’ll look perfect tonight. What time should I pick you up?"

MADELYN

"Okay.. Bbb..babe? I guess around 7?"

CLARA (Clara asks in shock to Megan and Cheryl) "Wait?! Is this real? Did he just say BABE?!"

CHERYL

"No, it is real. They look cute together. I ship them a lot."

MEGAN (Megan elbows Cheryl)

"Cheryl, you better bite your tongue.”

CLARA

"Hun, we’re not over yet. Why are you being lovey dovey with this girl?"

NICK (Nick wraps his arm around Madelyn)

"Don’t call me that. It’s clear that we’re over. I’ll never date a cheater girl like you."

CLARA (Clara reaches for Nick’s hands, gets swatted)

"I know you’re very disappointed, but I promise I’ve changed. And also I'm way better than her."

(Nick rolling his eyes)

MEGAN

(Megan folds her hands and rolls her eyes)

"Madelyn, did you just brainwash him? Or I'm pretty sure that you pay him to date you."

MADELYN

"You guys are freaks. Nick, I really gotta go."

NICK (Nick waves to Madelyn) "Bye babe, see ya around 7."

CLARA (Clara sits beside Nick) "What?! BABE?!"

NICK (Nick stands up in irritation)

"Shut up! We both know we’ve called things off. Stop bothering me!”

Nick left Clara.

MEGAN

"OMG, I can’t let this happen. I won’t let her beat my girl!”

CHERYL

"How could she beat Clara? Are they both in a race or something?”

MEGAN

"Can you stop being dumb for a second? No, I mean not a second, maybe forever?"

CLARA

"GIRLS! Shut your freaking mouth. Gosh..”

Clara left, followed by Megan and Cheryl.

SCENE 5

DAY School, Classroom, Break Time

NICK

(Nick opens the bottle for Madelyn)

“I didn’t expect you would help me.”

MADELYN

“Did I ever say yes?”

NICK

“Nah you didn’t. Not yet. But thanks anyway, Clara was going mad over it.”

MADELYN

“I never thought that she would cheat on you.”

NICK

“Who knows.”

(The situation is getting awkward)

CAMEO 1

“When was the camp again?”

CAMEO 2

“Next Friday. I'm so ready for it."

CAMEO 1

"But not for me. There must be a lot of mosquitoes, I hate it."

CAMEO 2

"It's not like you're gonna die because of it."

(Cameos leave the stage)

NICK

“Oh, do you know about the camping next Friday? Will you join it?”

MADELYN

“I haven’t thought about it. I’m still waiting for Cath. We’ll see.”

NICK

“So if she doesn’t join the camp then you go with her? oh come on!”

MADELYN

“I can’t promise you, Nick .”

NICK

“This is your first camp, right? I guarantee that it’s gonna be fun!”

MADELYN

“Alright Mr. Jones , i”ll consider it. “

NICK

“You have to. It’s gon’ be boring without you. I’ll pick you up. Full stop.”

MADELYN

“No, you better not. I can’t let my family know about our relationship, even though it’s fake. So the answer is no.”

NICK

“Alright, I won’t. But next time you have to say yes if I pick you up for a date.”

MADELYN

“Nick, what if there’s no other day?”

NICK

“what are you talking about?”

MADELYN

“yeah we never know what will happen next”

NICK

“Hey look , yeah it’s true that we will never know what will happen tomorrow, next week , next month , or maybe next year but it doesn’t mean we cannot enjoy every moment of it right? so please enjoy and cherish every moment as it comes, or.. you will regret it. just like another chapter in the book can’t go back but you can look. so.. I'm begging you to join the camp.”

MADELYN

“yeah you’re right! omg i can’t believe that nick jones could say something like that.. haha just kidding, okay then, i’ll join it!

NICK

“That's my girl! alright i think I gotta go, imma bout to do baseball. See ya on Friday. Byeee.”

JUSTIN

(Nick accidentally walks into Justin) “Heyy Nick, Madelyn?”

NICK

“Hey Justin! I gotta go, got something to do.”

Justin sits on the bench next to Madelyn.

JUSTIN

“Nick’s in a hurry, where’s he going?”

MADELYN

“He had a basketball meeting. What’s up?”

JUSTIN (Awkwardly)

“Here, I uh wanted to give this letter.”

MADELYN “Letter? for who?”

JUSTIN (Justin gives the letter to Madelyn) “For you.”

MADELYN (Madelyn sounds hopeful) “For me?”

JUSTIN “Yeah just give it to Amy”

MADELYN (Madelyn sounds disappointed) “Oh...”

JUSTIN

“An apology letter before Amy gets mad cus I broke my promise.”

MADELYN

“Okay then, I’ll give it to her later.”

JUSTIN (Justin leaves Madelyn)

“Thanks Madelyn. Um, I’m gonna go back to class, there’s an exam starting soon.”

MADELYN “Okay.” (Madelyn mumbling) “Why didn’t you just write it for me?”

Madelyn places the box inside her bag and grabs her diary.

Not long after that, Clara and her friends come in.

CLARA

“Oh that’s Madelyn, the flirtatious chick.”

MEGAN

“How far is your relationship with him?”

MADELYN

“What do you guys want?”

(Madelyn starts getting uncomfortable) CHERYL “What are you writing?”

(Madelyn quickly hiding her diary) CLARA

“I bet it’s an important secret.”

MEGAN “Lemme see.”

(Madelyn hurriedly put her diary inside her bag)

MADELYN

“What do you guys want?!”

CLARA

“Is that your diary book? Honey it’s 2022 and you still do such a thing?”

CHERYL

“Y'all shouldn’t do that, it’s her privacy. I’m still writing in my diary either.”

MEGAN

“Holy crap, here we go again.”

MADELYN

“Why are you guys always like this?!” CLARA

“Tell us what’s up between you and Nick?”

MADELYN

“There’s nothing to explain about.”

CLARA

“Hold on. Has Nick been cheating on me this whole time with this shameless girl?!”

MADELYN

“Says who?! You're the one who cheated!”

CLARA

“Huh?! Where’d you get THAT from? Just admit it, what’s your relationship with Nick?!”

MADELYN

“There’s nothing else for me to say, Just admit the fact that you're jealous because you guys already broke up!”

MEGAN

“See! So you guys ARE close!”

CLARA

“It’s so weird that Nick had to choose a girl like you.”

(Megan stops Madelyn from going away)

MEGAN

“Whoa chill girl. We just need you to explain.”

CLARA

“I think there’s no other way.”

(Clara throw her drink to Madelyn)

MADELYN

“Clara, what are you doing??!?!!”

MEGAN & CLARA “OOPSIE DOOPSIE!!”

CLARA

“See? Told ya. Don’t mess with us. C’mon girls, let’s go.”

CHERYL

“Don’t forget to change your clothes.” (Madelyn still in shock, try to clean it up)

SCENE 6 NOON Camping Day

(They're busy preparing the tent and stuff)

CATH (Cath making a tent)

"Why am I here? I work hard building this right now just to destroy it the next day."

MADELYN

"Well at least you're here with me."

CATH (Cath sits beside Madelyn)

"If it wasn't for you, Madelyn Cooper, I'd be at home, lying on my bed, binge watching Stranger Things right now."

MADELYN (Madelyn hugs Cath)

"I love you to death."

CATH

"Lucky for you to have me in your life. I'm gonna get some snacks and drinks. I heard they got coffee beer, you want some?"

MADELYN

(Madelyn shakes her head)

"Nah thanks, just water please."

CATH

"You sure? It's 0%, you won't get drunk"

MADELYN

"I've never been this sure."

CATH "Alrighty, 2 coffee beers and water."

MADELYN (Madelyn says loudly) "No beer please."

Cath left to get some snacks & drinks. Madelyn was busy looking for something in her bag.

MADELYN

(Madelyn looks for something in her bag, she panics)

“Oh no, where is it? I’m sure I’ve put it inside.” (Madelyn is panicking because she can’t find her diary) Nick approaches Madelyn who looks confused. NICK

“What’s up! What are you looking for?”

MADELYN

“Uhm.. Nothing.”

(Madelyn quickly zipped her bag)

NICK (Nick offers a piece of bread to Madelyn) “Really? You seem to be serious about it. Also, here’s some bread.”

Madelyn accepts without saying anything.

MADELYN (Madelyn places the bread next to her, her face pissed off)

“Enough, Nick. It’s none of your business. If only I didn't help you, then she wouldn’t do anything to me!”

NICK (Nick scrunches his face)

“What do you mean ‘she’? Clara? Did she do something bad to you?”

MADELYN (Madelyn stands up) “Forget it!!!”

NICK (Nick also stands up)

“Madelyn, say something! I won’t let her do anything bad to you.”

MADELYN

“You know what? I’m done playing this game. I’m tired of pretending.”

NICK (Nick holds madelyn’s arms)

“This is not a game. This is REAL.”

MADELYN (Madelyn is confused)

“What’s real? What do you mean?”

NICK “US ”

MADELYN “Us ?”

MUSICAL : MADELYN AND NICK

NICK

“Starting from today til forever, there will be no more fake dating, okay?”

Zach comes in panic.

ZACH (Zach out of breath)

“DUDE!! Oh here you are. Where have you been? I’ve been looking for you!”

NICK

“Why? Is everything okay?” ZACH (Zach demonstrates)

“Our tent is just like the London Bridge song.”

NICK

“What do you mean?” ZACH (Emphasizing every word)

“IT’S FALLING DOWN ”

NICK (Nick replies indifferently) “Then go fix it!”

ZACH

“Seriously? Just me? Myself? And I?”

NICK

(Nick wraps his arm around Zach and leaves Madelyn)

“You’re so needy! Okay, fine I’ll help you. Madelyn. I’ll be right back.”

Clara and her friends come after searching for firewoods.

CHERYL (Cheryl whines)

“Clara, can you please help a lil bit?”

MEGAN

“Where’s my baby Zach? I’m too fancy for doing all of this!”

CLARA

(They stack the firewood then approach Madelyn)

“Maybe he’s hooking up with someone else. Ouh that’s Madelyn.”

MADELYN

(Madelyn looks away) “Oh God please help me.”

MEGAN

“Where’s your boyfriend? Is he bored, then he left you? Ouh I feel bad for you Maddy.”

MADELYN

“Can you guys just leave me alone for a day?”

CLARA

“Of course not. Even if I can, I won’t.”

CHERYL

CLARA

“What if people know the things you wrote in here? What will you do?”

MADELYN (Madelyn rebels)

CLARA “Should I?”

MADELYN

“How did you get my diary?”

CLARA

“You wanna know? if you do, you’ll be very disappointed.”

MEGAN

“You really wanna know?”

“It was your own friend, shocked aren’t you?”

Madelyn is shocked

CLARA

“Shocked right?” HAHAHA I feel bad for you, Madelyn.”

MEGAN

CLARA

MEGAN

“You must be REALLY embarrassed now huh? That's what you get for messing with us.”

CLARA

“Soon enough he’ll probably leave you too, just like the way your mom did.” Nick and Zach come in.

ZACH

“Hey Babe! I just fixed our tent. It was amazing. What’s up with your face? Are you mad at me? Ouh I’m sorry baby.”

NICK

“Madelyn, you okay? Isn’t that your book? Why is she holding it?”

(Nick trying to grab the diary)

CLARA

“Oh, you guys came at the perfect time.”

MADELYN “That’s enough!”

CHERYL

“Spill it, Clara! I can’t wait any longer.”

(Megan giving death stare to Zach)

“Uhm.. Babe? Tell me what’s going on?”

CLARA

“Nick, I think you’ll be surprised by what I’m about to say.”

NICK

“Clara? What are you talking about?”

“Shush! Madelyn Cooper, a girl who we thought was sweet and innocent, wrote love letters to 3 different boys AT THE SAME TIME. And guess what Nick? You weren’t the only one.”

MEGAN

“HAHAHA 3 love letters at ONCE? be careful guys, she might come and steal your man!”

CLARA

“Nick, I’m so sorry you weren’t the only one.”

NICK

“What do you mean?”

CLARA

“I feel so bad for you Nick. She was only using you this whole time.”

NICK

“Using me? What do you mean?”

“Isn’t that right, Madelyn? You were only using him for his fame.”

MEGAN

“Hahaha and to think Nick had high hopes”

“You took my happiness, my friends, people’s attention, and now you still wanna take Nick away from me?”

MADELYN

“Clara? All this time you’ve felt that way?” CLARA “Yes!”

Cath came in and was stunned. MEGAN “Oh, here she comes.” CATH “Sorry?”

MADELYN

“Cath? Were you the one who gave this book to them?” CATH “What book?” CLARA

“There’s no way a thief would admit it.”

“You still have a family who still love you and care for you! Then what about me? I dont any! You pushed me away and left me and you pretend that we didn’t even know each other!”

MADELYN

“I didn’t leave you. But you just drifted away from me!”

CLARA

“Yeah it’s because you didn’t wanna be friends with me!”

MADELYN

“Clara, it’s not like what you’re thinking! You just misunderstood.”

CLARA

“Misunderstood? You’re defending yourself and being selfish!”

MADELYN

“I was just focusing on my medication at that time and trying to survive! Does everyone have to know about this?!”

CLARA

“!no one knows right? that you have a disease that could end your life at any time?”

Madelyn clutches her hand to her chest. Everyone knows her biggest secret.

NICK

“Disease? What else are you hiding, Madelyn?”

“So all this time you’re thinking that ? Okay, I know that I'm a freak and eccentric girl. I'm sorry if you have been annoyed and embarrassed all this time , but that's the way I am!”

MADELYN

“Cath! Please, listen to me!That’s not true!”

CLARA

“Well, if you still don’t trust me, then just read it.”

MADELYN

“Clara stop!”

“Madelyn, you're so full of yourself!”

“Madelyn, I’m disappointed in you. Turns out you were far from what I imagined.”

MADELYN

“I know you're disappointed in me, because of the letters and the disease I have.”

NICK (Nick stops in his tracks)

“I need an explanation.”

MADELYN

“It’s obvious that I wrote letters for Zach, Justin, and you!”

NICK

“They are my friends! And how could you write a letter to them? I can't believe this..”

MADELYN

“Nick, I’m really sorry, but I ”

NICK

“What else are you hiding from me? Tell me, what else?!”

CLARA

“You already know everything!”

NICK

“You think that you’re strong enough to handle all these situations?

And you forget that I’m always here for you?”

MADELYN (Madelyn starts crying)

“I didn’t want anyone to know about all this.”

NICK

“So? What am I to you?”

MADELYN

“The fact that I might die anytime, any day I don’t want any of you to feel pity of me!”

NICK

“But they care of you!

MADELYN

“Care of what? clearly that you’re gonna leave me soon! ”

Nick sighs in frustration, trying to control his emotion.

“At least you could appreciate people around you who still care about you!“

MADELYN

“I know it was wrong, and now you're probably ” Madelyn falls unconscious, she blacks out as Nick calls out to her.

NICK

“Madelyn? Madelyn wake up!”

Funeral

MADELYN

“Dear Mom, I feel sad. This problem is getting very heavy to the point where I can’t handle it. I never interfered with other people’s lives, until that day. Why did I have to help him? Why?. Clara’s really mean, she stole and ruined my diary. That diary meant alot to me. It hurts so bad to hear her say all the things I wasn’t prepared for anyone to hear. Mom, I’m at my lowest point right now. I miss the warmth from your hands, the way you comforted me in every situation. I’m scared, mom. I wanna go far away. I wanna be with you right now, everyday, and forever. Please mom, just this once, give me an answer.”

Madelyn is crying when her mom appears.

MOM

“Madelyn sweetie, what’s wrong? why are you crying?”

MADELYN “Mom!”

MOM

“I’m so sorry I haven’t had the chance to see you.”

MADELYN

“Mom, please don’t go! don’t leave me alone!”

MOM

“I won’t go anywhere.”

MADELYN

“They’re so mean.”

MOM

“Look at the clouds today, so bright and beautiful. Wipe your tears away.”

MADELYN

“But mom ”

MOM

“That’s much better, why don’t you join me, Madelyn

Nick sitting on a bench. Then Amy comes, sitting beside Nick. The atmosphere is gloomy.

NICK

“I’m sorry, I failed to protect her.”

(Amy wipes her tears)

AMY

“No, stop blaming yourself. Oh she left this letter and there’s your name on it, so i guess it’s for you.”

(Amy hand the letter)

NICK

“A letter?”

AMY

“Yeah I found it inside her bag.”

Not long after that, Richard and Jessica come.

RICHARD

“Amy! I’ve been looking for you. Justin’s been waiting for you the whole time.”

AMY

“Okay Nick, I’m gonna go first.

Nick moves to the side. Richard sits in the middle, a sad Jessica sits beside him.

RICHARD

“I actually forbade her from camping because she had a check up appointment. But Madelyn insisted on joining, saying she was gonna have fun with her new friends. That’s you, wasn’t it?”

NICK

“I’m sorry sir, I couldn’t protect her.”

RICHARD

(Pats nick on the back)

“It’s okay, it was already fate.”

JESSICA

“Dad! Why did Madelyn lie? Why did she leave so fast? Then who am I gonna play with, Dad? Now no one’s gonna be late again.”

RICHARD

“Jess, it was already her fate. Didn’t we promise mom that we’d meet each other in heaven? It’s alright, let’s just pray for her.”

NICK

“Madelyn, I didn’t even get to pick you up for our date.”

JESSICA

“Nick, Madelyn will still love you even from above.”

RICHARD

“Hahaha you're so funny, Jessica. Okay then, Nick, how about we eat first? You’ve been here for a long time, don’t let your body get sick.”

NICK

“No it’s okay, you go first sir.”

JESSICA

“Bye Brother Nick! Don’t be too sad or you’ll end up the same!”

Richard and Jessica leave Nick alone.

“Dear Nick Jones, at first, I thought of you as nothing but just a friend. As time went by, I found out about you and Clara. To be honest, I couldn’t do anything, I’m just Madelyn Cooper who has no guts.I first started writing this letter the day when our eyes first met. I clearly saw you and Clara broke up right in front of my eyes and I was thinking that I had a chance to make you mine, but I doubt myself.I couldn’t get you out of my mind. Nick, you’re the only one I fell for. Even though we’re not real, I gave you all my heart, because I love you.If one day I couldn’t be here with you anymore, I wrote this letter to remind you of me. I love you forever and always.I hope this letter won’t be another love letter that I never sent.”

NICK

“I bought these flowers for you. These are ‘forget me not' flowers, which means loyalty and that you won’t be forgotten. Even though we only spent a small amount of time together, I really do love you and I wish I got to hold you one last time.”

MADELYN

“I’m holding you right now.”

MADELYN

“Well this is my story. When you love someone, tell them before it’s too late. And if there’s people out there who are like me, don’t be afraid to open up and seek help. The most important thing, don’t ever look down on what others are going through because we never know how much they struggle to survive and keep holding on to life.”

B. PROPOSAL

PROLOGUE

LSPR Communication and business institute was established in 1992 by Mrs. Prita Kemal Gani, MBA, MCIPR, APR. As known, LSPR is one of the best school with faculty of communication in Jakarta. LSPR study programme divided into several major such a Public Relations, Marketing Communication, Broadcasting and Digital Media Communication, Digital Creative Production, International Relations and Performing Arts Communication.

Introduction to performing arts communication about how to build our communication skills in the field of art and be a great performer. We learn about how to communicate with audience by performing like theatre, dance, opera, sing, music etc. It’s all about self expression and perform confidently in front of audience. Not all about a theory and academic, in the first semester at LSPR all student will learning performing arts communication and there will be a LSPR Theatre Festival.

LSPR Theatre Festival was made since 2005 and produced over 300 production of theatre performance with purpose for final examination in Performing Arts Communication class. In 2008 LSPR achieved a category of the longest theatre stage show on a week with various different titles from MURI Record. Some of title that had perform on the stage such a Lucy in The Sky (2014), Potato Girl (2015), A Party to Murder (2016), If Only (2019), Story Of Us (2020) and many more title till this year will be going The 27th LSPR Theatre Festival.

LSPR Batch 25 Class COMM 25 9SP will perform a show entitled “Love Letters I Never Sent” written by Anisa Fitriani and will be held on February 2022. This show is created with purpose to learn and practice acting skills, how to directing a show, write a script creativily, team work, preparing and manage plan all the theatre stuff both behind the stage and on the stage. This theatre production are well prepared with guidance from Introduction to Performing Arts Communication Lecturer, Ms. Karina Indah Septiani, M.I.Kom.

PROJECT OVERVIEW

Love Letters I Never Sent is a theatrical performance by LSPR students in COMM 25 9SP. The existence of theater among teenagers has not been widely known by the public. This is due to the lack of place to develop creativity, interest, and talent. However, there have been developments, one of which is through theatrical works of LSPR students in the 2021 LSPR Theater Festival Event. Therefore, we hope that this event can develop the creativity and potential of LSPR Students, especially the COMM 25 9SP.

This year, COMM25 9SP will deliver a spectacular theatre musical performance “Love Letters I Never Sent” written by our scriptwriter Anisa Fitriani and played by the class members of COMM25 9SP.

Madelyn Cooper, a teenager who always fantasizes with romantic stories and writes several letters to the boy she likes. Nick Jones, a popular school who suddenly invites Madelyn to have a relationship, Madelyn is confused but continues to do it. Until finally Madelyn felt uncomfortable because of the actions of Clara, Nick's ex girlfriend who always interfered with her daily life. Madelyn wrote several love letters including to Nick, Justin, and Zach. Will they get the letter? And whether Madelyn will dare to express her feelings to Nick Jones?

GENERAL OBJECTIVE

• To give a setting to London School of Public Relations Jakarta understudies from all classes to feature their capacity in creating and performing.

• To persistently build up the abilities of London School of Public Relations Jakarta understudies in the specialty of theatre creation as a mechanism of correspondence.

• To create fearlessness among London School of Public Relations Jakarta understudies through correspondence by upgrading their specialties and artworks and instruct how to function in gathering or as a group.

• To provide opportunities for students to how their talents and creativity in performing.

• To raise the picture of London School Public Relations Jakarta as the top correspondence foundation in Indonesia by creating fascinating show and impart the virtue of the story to the group of spectators.

TARGET AUDIENCE

• We have a target market of the theater that we will show:

• 15 30 years old (all genders): Why around 15 30 years old, because the theater we are going to show is set in high school and the story is light and suitable for teenagers. Also why until the age of 30 because the story from the theater that we will show is expected to make those who have gone through adolescence to remember the fun teenage years. This story can also be enjoyed by any gender, male or female.

• For the middle to upper middle class: this story can be enjoyed from all walks of life because this story has a background from any background, neither rich nor poor nor any race can watch this theater.

• People who like to watch theater , we believe this story can be enjoyed by theater fans because the story is fresh, fun, funny and romantic

Madelyn (Sonia Annabel)

Madelyn plays as the main character. We make it up according to the character she plays

We made a soft look with the gradation eye look between light brown and soft peach with a highlighter, thin eyebrow and eyeliner. We also make a slighty lip ombre with a nude and pink color, with a thin pink blush on cheeks.

Nick (Sahel Alfathan)

Nick plays as boy main character. We make it up according to the character she plays

We made a natural look with the base make up ( foundation and powder ) and natural lip look for men

Amy

(Faadiyah Oktavia)

Amy plays as Madelyn's sister with her mature and mother like character. So we make it up according to the character she plays

We made a look with a gradation eye look between purple with light purple glitter and cat eyeliner, we also adding pink blush on her cheekbones and for the lips we use nude lipstick

Jessica (Cecilia Tesalonika)

Jessica plays as Madelyn's lil sister with her playful and mischievous character. So we make it up according to the character she plays

We made him look like an original character with curtain haircuts, wearing square glasses. With a natural base make up (foundation and powder), and natural pink lip in his lips.

Zach (Gabriell Marcaelino)

Zach plays as Cath’s boyfriend with his fun and friendly character. So we make it up according to the character he plays.

We made a handsome and cool look for him. Wearing the black t shirt inner and shirt as outer. For his face we use a natural basic makeup (foundation and powder, and additional lip on his lips to give a bright and good impression.

Clara plays as Nick's ex girlfriend with her drama queen and jealous character. So we make it up according to the character she plays

We made a sassy look. by mixing dark orange eyeshadow, maroon and a little brown or black color coupled with a sprinkling of glitter, eyeliner and false lashes.

We also emphasize the line of her face by contouring, adding blush and highlighting her cheekbones. For the appearance of the lips we use an apple red color coupled with lip gloss

Cheryl plays as Clara's friend with her slow and annoying character. So we make it up according to the character she plays

We made a bold look with a gradation eye look between dark brown, maroon and dark orange. We put some highlighter on a eye, nose and cheeks for make it shimmering effect. A mono lids or cat eyes eyliner look, with a fake eyelashes and a ash grey color for eyebrow.

We also made contour and blush on. And lipstick with a nude and pink lip gloss.

Cath (Erina)

Cath plays as Madelyn's friend. We make it up according to the character she plays.

We made a bold look with a gradation eye look between brown and ash grey and we put shimer on the corner of eyes We put some highlighter on a eye, nose and cheeks for make it shimmering effect. A mono lids or cat eyes eyliner look, with a fake eyelashes and a ash grey color for eyebrow.

We also made contour and peach blush on. And lipstick with a nude and lip gloss.

• Because of this pandemic situation, LSPR 27th Festival has decided to do performances virtually, so people have to watch it on LSPR Jakarta’s Youtube Channel.

• Ticket sells starts from December,2021 and for those who want to watch our theatre, can still buy the tickets.

• We narrowed down to 1 ( one ) kind of options for payment method that is from BCA.

• The total of money that we got from tickets selling is Rp 1.300.000, for 65 tickets, it costs Rp 20.000 per ticket.
