01 URBAN REACTIVATION - CITY LOBBY

Description

"The Social Canvas Hub" envisions a vibrant, inclusive space where creativity meets connection. By blending artistic expression, social play, and community interaction, it becomes a hub for the younger generation to gather, collaborate, and exchange ideas The building champions an ecosystem of creativity, where games, music, art, and markets intersect, fostering a sense of belonging and inspiring the creation of new cultural narratives for Ipoh

Ipoh, with its historic charm and growing youth culture, provides the perfect backdrop for "The Social Canvas Hub." Inspired by the city's old-world markets and vibrant street art scene, the design reflects a dialogue between heritage and modernity

Architectural elements like open verandas, green terraces, and recycled materials pay homage to Ipoh’s eco-conscious mindset while creating an urban haven that integrates nature with the built environment.

02 URBAN CONTEXT & SOCIETY -

URBAN GALLERY

Description

“Pudu grapples with multifaceted challenges that threaten its cultural identity and cohesiveness. Addressing the need for cultural enrichment, economic stimulation, and urban revitalization, the proposal aims to establish an art gallery in Pudu, Kuala Lumpur, to foster local artistic expression, preserve cultural heritage, and attract tourism, while also serving as a hub for community engagement and creative entrepreneurship ”

Issues with the Site

Lack of designated public gathering spaces for the community to hang out and interact with the location.

Occupancy of immigrants more than locals loses locality and a sense of belonging to the place

insiders who used to live there are forgetting their roots and moving out to developed towns/cities.

Evidence of social gap between the old and new generation becoming an increased threat
