This Thesis project aims to develop a design for a Resort in Poovar, Kerala, India. The research is based upon the influence of Local Architecture and exploration of the principles of tourism. An important element of this project is gaining the understanding of the spatial planning, elements of design, climate responsive techniques & forms of local architecture and their methods of construction. The project aims to deal with the site, climate and the culture in a detailed way. The site chosen for the project is located in Poovar region in Kerala which is surrounded by sea, backwater, river and dense vegetation.

Site Area : 12 Acers . Climate : Moderately hot and humid around the year. Site is located near Poovar island which is a tourist town in Neyyattinkara in the Thiruvananthapuram district of Kerala, India the structures will connect to nature approach, hence amplifying interaction between people and nature with respect to the context and designing structures using locally available material by giving vernacular touch to it.
ARCHITECTURAL USE
Vegetations needs to be planted in rows that can connect space.
SPACES
Merging project’s buildings with the context of the surrounding. The contour lines will serve as a source of inspiration for the overall concept.
Beach resorts are perfect for adventure and fun, with a wide range of activities to enjoy like Surfing, Stand-Up Paddleboarding, Jet Skiing, Kiteboarding, Windsurfing, Snorkeling, Scuba Diving, Kayaking, Parasailing and Hot air balloon ride.

CONCEPT OF ENERGY EFFICIENCY
• Landscaping- trees and vegetation is used to provide screening, shading, or landscape envelope. This can be used in aspect of solar and wind efficiency.
• Cool roofs- Reflectivity is used in urban level to make maximum surface area to radiate back maximum UV radiation, to lower the over all urban heat island effect
Energy efficiency during construction phase
Energy efficiency is embedded at the time of construction by following steps
•Local material is major factor in material supply and processing Cost
•Modular planning : repetition of precast element adds in the future design flexibility in a structure.

URBAN CENTRE OF EXCELLENCE (TSUCE) is one-stop-shop for all urban related issues being faced by cities not only in India but across Asia. It intends to setup the project in a sprawling 45 acres campus on the outskirts of Hyderabad. This will have at least about 20 acres of future expansion. The Centre will have classrooms, conference halls, auditoriums & full-fledged accommodation facilities along with gymnasium & sports facilities for the campus. The Centre will also house live-models of the latest innovations /best practices in urban sector in about 5 acres of land on a dynamic basis.

One of its kind, this Centre will act as a National/Regional level think tank on urban issues and R&D facilities on urban issues, a hub for urban innovations and a Centre for urban start-ups, training & conference facilities and will act as a state/national/regional level Centre for hosting conferences/ workshops on urban issues. It will also act as a repository of and will house urban innovations and all the latest in this sector. UCE campus (all structures/buildings/designs) is based on concept of sustainable development and innovative architecture. The entire campus will be a green campus & will have inbuilt elements of energy saving design, optimum usage of natural light, landscapes and using space in eco-friendly innovative manner
