LSBU Architecture Welcome to the London South Bank University Architecture End of Year catalogue 2021.

It is doubtful that many of us would have predicted that we would still be running our courses remotely for the past year and a half, but it is possible to see a glimmer of hope as we adjust our lives to a ‘New Normal’. It is difficult to ignore the significance that our architecture has had on society during these times; not only through the impact of lockdown on daily life, or the separation distances restricting human contact, but also the plethora of buildings lain empty across of towns, villages, and cities, whilst we isolate and continue life through the screen.

This year’s cohort has experienced challenges like no other, but we have shown that together it is possible to achieve great things in this dynamic profession. That said, our students have proved their resilience by overcoming these obstacles, which is measured through the collective success of our exhibition. Architecture is a social profession and must be inclusive, diverse but also agile, it must adapt to all communities we serve without preference for a particular style or canon. That is why we see architecture as a provider of hope for a positive future, celebrated through our great student projects.

This year we have enhanced our engagement between academia and practice, with the establishment of our Architecture Advisory Board, with ambitions to tighten the relationships between our employers and the courses that we offer at LSBU. We are committed to celebrating the diversity within our course and believe that architecture must be forward looking and produce positive real-world outcomes. We also continued our successful Architecture Lecture series in 2021, albeit online, with exciting and informative presentations from Harbinder Birdi (head of infrastructure at Hawkins\Brown), Harry Thorpe and Joshua Peasley (CAUKIN Studio), Ned Scott (Bell Phillips Architects), Christina Seilern (Studio Seilern Architects), Joseph Sweeney, Aidan Thomas and Raluca Ciorbaru (Fletcher Priest Architects), Tony Musson and Nat Keast (Wilkinson Eyre Architects), and Mark Fisher (ARUP). This eclectic mix of contemporary practices aimed to share with our students the diversity of professional practice.

As a final note, I wish to thank all students, apprentices, academic colleagues, practitioners, and employers for your commitment and support over this past year and beyond. I would also like to send a special thanks to LSBU Architecture’s former Head of Architecture, Professor Lilly Kudic, for all her efforts and passion over the years, working ceaselessly for the betterment of our courses, we are incredibly grateful for all the contributions that she made to our School. LSBU architecture has been adapting for the past few years, and this year was no exception. However, I am grateful for the support from the school and the contributions of everyone who has engaged with our architectural community at the university.

The principal aims of the programme are to focus on innovation in design, construction, and resource efficient technology, ensuring students acquire skills and methodologies relevant to contemporary professional practice, and develop the ability to produce complex and diverse design proposals, where complexity is seen in terms of intellectual density rather than an emphasis on large scale development.

Architecture is a practice that is informed by, and informs, a wider context. As professionals, our role is not only to serve existing societies, but to challenge contemporary thinking and promote new social, cultural, political, and technological innovations. The demand for valuable design, critical diversity, experimentation, and progressive professional practice are principal objectives established by and in architectural education.

Such thinking can only be accessed by deep engagement in the culture of design studios, research, and practice.

At LSBU, we see design studios as the catalyst to challenge the conditions of the 21st century; crucially, we need to explore, and refine these ideas into robust architectural projects. Research develops a strong critical and reflective attitude towards the issues raised within contemporary society; practice enables implementation and testing of our ideas. The process of experimentation may at times be tough – framing new hypotheses is inevitably challenging - but through ambition and commitment we develop valuable innovations; these are not for personal gain, but for each other and our future generations. The diversity and complexity of our built environment requires participation in ways responsive to, and provoking the agenda for change; architecture is an implicit part of this.

Our studios and taught modules are led by a diverse group of academics, theorists, and practitioners, all of whom are passionate about our profession, and in cultivating dialogue between generations. Each of us is dedicated to facilitating ideas through verifiable research and design methodologies, with the aim to vivify students’ academic experience and professional aspirations.

James Lovelock, Gaia: The Practical Science of Planetary Medicine, 186 Design studio is the space to develop and materialise your interests through discussion and critique. This year Studio 23 focuses on what we call, the New Order Cosmonauts. New Order, a criticality/appreciation of what exists and propose new movements, rallies, and calls to a freedom, unconstrained by the shackles of dogma. Cosmonautical as we will be looking deep into the future and at dimensions beyond time. Through design projects in oth years, we aim to evoke thinking on our evolutionary and moral responsibility to each other and the environment. We will continue and expand our investigations into climate preservation and ethical approaches to ecology.

This is of absolute necessity and engrained in our discussions of materiality, construction, comfort, and our responsibility toward protecting Gaia – climate politics and the architects role within this are critical to our studio. We are also interested in how new technology plays a fundamental role in protecting our mothership.

Incoming year will work on projects related to protean nature.

Understanding nature’s alluring ability to shift frequently and remain variable. We live in increasingly precarious times, with the ever-evolving climate emergency and loss of ecological life.

In nature, there is a constant grappling for space, a healthy opposition of forces, and both resisting and welcoming changes to our boundary conditions. We will explore the architecture of a new hogan community, as a light-touch, eco-efficient space for artistic ferment and short-term, capricious habitation.

We will learn from the riverbeds and the creatures within it and seek ways to reinvigorate declining wetlands through cultural reform of indeterminate nature.

Final year will focus on pillars of cosmology, understanding the structural principles through harmony and order, about how artificial intelligence enacts new possibilities of 3-dimensional space and the development of new forms of energy and interaction, as a projective extension to our experiences of the urban landscape. This opportunity for a new kind of hope brings to bare the questions or moral values and altruism. Biases, inconsistencies, sensitivities over privacy, unintended and premeditated inaccuracies, and others influences currently cloud AI driven data that makes decisions about us humans. As Stuart Russell notes, “We will need to become good at being human.”

The Contemporary Architectural Metaphor In The Ten Books of Architecture Vitruvius speculates that since the day when man discovered fire was a critical moment whereby architecture and language emerged. Fire teaches human beings how to seek comfort and safety and humans gathered around the fire and formed communities. Language then eventually emerged out of necessity to record and to communicate. The use of language has also become the tool to convey knowledge and experience. It provides the soil for the human being to conceive construction knowledge and culture collectively.

From the industrial revolution to the modern era, technology has seemingly diminished the traces of metaphor in our architecture.

It may seem that buildings no longer express meanings historically relevant. A building is a sediment of the culture of the time of its erection. It expressed technology and reflected how people lived their lives during the generation of its initial habitation. In Studio 22, we argue that technology and culture are two sides of the same coin. We will explore the possibility of how technology is applied to a structural and social context, in order to help us define the architectural languages of our time, which is not a mere style that can determine what we create. We believe by synthesizing contemporary social contexts and technology, we can establish an architecture that is relevant to its generation.

Our incoming year will undertake 3 different design projects in and around Central London, exploring the significance of energy efficient design, new materials, and construction methods. Our final year students will explore the area around Greenwich Peninsula and develop complex design projects that challenge the difficult edge conditions between land and water, but also critique the transitioning industrial area of the Peninsula.

The Emperor’s Dress: A New Embodiment for Architecture Studio 21 investigates incipient transformations of communities and lifestyles to propose innovative architectural responses to new spatial and material demands arisen from: rapid population growth, deep technological shifts, climate emergency and global pandemic.

We will challenge and re-define the preconceptions that traditionally define our buildings: social proximity - ways of interaction - levels of privacy, intimacy and collectivity - scale of mass and void - relationship between indoor and outdoor circulation and common areas, etc.

We bring a lateral approach by introducing the concept of Spatial Embodiment - like the Emperor in the famous tale, we will candidly question the skins, dresses and materials that embody our everyday experiences in space, in the city and in nature - we will explore the sensuous and interactive character of architecture by re-imagining its spatiality and materiality.

Investigating hybrid typologies, we will exercise an architectural progression ranging from user experience, urban community through to landscape scale. To achieve this we propose 3 defined ‘Areas of Opportunity’ in London, which will constitute the arenas of investigation for each project: (SPATIAL EXPERIENCE) will define new types of City Users and their corresponding Sensuous Experiences, in the central district of Waterloo.

(VACANT CITY) will define new spaces for a new Community of users within the realms of the ‘City Fringe’, working on vacant or semi-vacant buildings.

(DIGITAL NOMADS) will move onto the opportunity area of Upper Lea Valley, where the students will work on a larger environment with a strong ‘edge’ condition, between urban and nature.

Intermittent Grounds: Future Forms of Transport The studio is interested in investigating intermittent grounds and landscapes with the physical conditions that bring both programmatic opportunities and new built environments directly related to climatic or social concerns. The studio’s approach towards architecture is to understand innovative solutions in architectural systems and integrate them to intermittent landscapes that we define in both political and geographical boundaries, with the aim of proposing contemporary architecture in relation to society’s programmatic needs. We are a studio strongly interested in design, drawing with a strong emphasis on architectural precision and analysis. We utilise architectural experimentation, with an emphasis on complex topography, landscape and programmatic conditions to reconfigure complex structures with contemporary conditions for inhabitants. Year 4 students will be working on London City Airport and will be exploring new programmatic opportunities in the wake of COVID-19 travel restrictions and disruptions. Year 5 students will be working on Euston Station in London to examine its political, geographical and future conditions on promised transport infrastructure futures. Both new forms of transport and public activities will be analysed deeply, while exploring new ways of travel, commuting and emerging opportunities in the region.

The MArch History & Theory_Critical Thinking module focuses on educating ‘architects to be’, who would be able to critically assess and articulate orally and in writing the complex financial / political / cultural / historical /social / legal / technical and technological issues interwoven with the production of architecture. MArch Technology Energy and Resource Efficiency in Design Todor Demirov

The primary agenda of sustainable architecture is to minimize the negative impact of buildings on our environment through a sensitivity and understanding of efficient design. Architects have a responsibility to ensure that their designs are sympathetic to their immediate context, but also to the environment at large.

Considerations such as: material choice; passive heating and cooling systems; building orientation, spatial organisation, ecology and the ecosystem. Further to this, sustainability is to ensure that materials are used responsibly, selectively and not in excess.

It is the duty of the architect to improve society and collective well-being for future generations. The aim of this module is for you to be able to critically assess the impact of design decisions by taking into consideration environmental principles (discussed during the lecture series) and incorporating them into your Design

Technology 5: lectures underpins the Design 503 project and introduces students to a range of innovative structural systems, materials and construction techniques that may then be adopted in their own design project. The module content is oriented toward new methods of architectural construction, questioning the significance of technologies in the development of architectural designs such as: drones, robotics, new materials, computational design, and environmental analysis. This module allows students time to develop their technological thinking, in preparation for the Design 503 project.

Technology 5: technical Thesis is then delivered in Semester 2 alongside the Design 503 project within the postgraduate studios. This module is delivered as a series of 1:1 tutorials, small workshops, and cross crits between the academic studios to engage students in wider conversations across the course. Technology and design are integrated, especially if we consider architecture as a structural art. Structure, material and construction all form a part of the intellectual process that help to enhance the themes and narratives of architecture.

DARLAB (Digital Architectural Robotics laboratory) Federico Rossi Technician: Chris Botian

The DARLAB is examining the changes in the requirements for architectural production that result from the introduction of digital manufacturing techniques. Research interest lies in combining data and material, and the resulting implications this has on architectural design. The possibility of directly fabricating building components designed on a computer expands not only the range of possibilities for construction, but, by the direct implementation of material and production logic into the design process, it creates a unique form of architectural expression and a new aesthetic. The objective is to develop integration between new materials, and new tools to develop innovative construction fabrication processes.

DARLAB Director and Founder, Associate Professor Federico Rossi won several grants, KEEP+ grant funded by EU Horizon 2020 and UKMSN+ grant funded by EPSRC UK where advanced robotic manufacturing was the main topic of research and development.

Professional Practice Part 1 Angela Vanezi With special thanks to Monika Jociute Professional practice comprises a wide range of topics that connect acting ethically, design, technology, regulation, safety, costs, acting for clients, getting work, being paid, getting projects built, avoiding and dealing with problems, and aiming for success. It is an underlying and supporting network; not a separate abstract topic, but most valuable and useful when fully integrated with design and design considerations.

The course is structured as a series of 12 lectures, plus discussion and tutorial sessions. Topics covered include: conduct, discipline, professionalism; business of architecture; law; regulation and related issues; types of practice, aspirations; strategies and futures; preparation for Stage 1 experience in practice/year out. Topics are considered and reviewed at a level appropriate to this year of study.

The coursework objectives are for students to research key aspects of professionalism, design and construction in order to gain a better understanding of how designers navigate through legislation, statutory control, finance, practicality and practice to get a project built, and an appreciation of the client’s perspectives and priorities, and how they could use these to persuade a potential client to provide them with a commission for a project.

The coursework objectives are for students to revisit and analyse one of their own projects as if it were to be constructed in the UK in 2019, to consider five specific aspects in the context of current statutory, regulatory, and professional requirements, and to suggest amendments that would need to be made to achieve compliance with a view to successful implementation.

Professional Practice Part 3 Tom Fitzsimmons With special thanks to Kathy Gal The RIBA Professional Practice Part 3 course aims to provide a rigorous, wide-ranging and comprehensive understanding of key topics in the subject area to prepare candidates for the final Part 3 examination, and to equip students with the competences to engage responsibly in modern professional practice and practice in a changing and challenging context.

The examination is intended and designed to establish whether a student is competent to practice as an Architect in the UK, and is provided and assessed in accordance with the requirements of the RIBA/ARB shared Professional Criteria at Part 3. Each candidate’s experience of learning and development in professional practice will differ, depending upon the type of project, type and location of practice and management processes undertaken, and the preparation for the examination must therefore be approached in a structured way, with motivated self-learning. Students are encouraged not to rely solely on the subject matter and handouts in the lecture series, but take the initiative in wider reading and research.

Students need to manage the relationship between professional experience and academic study to provide coverage of the Professional Criteria, presenting a critically reflective body of work that complies with the requirements of the professional studies adviser or course provider. To meet the Professional Criteria, the candidate’s experience should include evidence of commercial awareness, self-management, professional competence and integrity. A successful candidate should also be able to demonstrate authorship, knowledge, effective communication skills, and reasoning and understanding in relation to all issues within the Professional Criteria.

The course is provided through approximately 20 lectures and seminars, group and individual tutorials, a role-play game on building contracts and their operation, and mock orals/ professional interviews.

The architect has a unique conceptual and integrative role in the making of buildings and places, working in cooperation with clients, communities, and other co-professionals. The defining skill of the architect is design in the broadest sense – the ability to conceive of and elaborate on, functionally useful and culturally relevant physical artefacts that meet a range of human needs and evoke a positive aesthetic response.

The BA(Hons) Architecture course is structured around a strong emphasis on the design studio, representing over 50% of the course modules and assessed work. Design is underpinned by the core modules to ensure that there is a comprehensive range of essential theoretical, cultural, technical, and professional knowledge required to underpin the subject and establish the intellectual credibility of architecture.

media for architecture • A pedagogic model is offered that emphasises studio and workshop activities, with a drive for testing, making and experimentation throughout the course. The acquisition of design knowledge and understanding is developed through studio design teaching and learning, and the delivery of other core elements through lectures, seminars, and skills workshops. The integration of studio design projects with other modules may be implicit or explicit, depending on the subject being taught, however, we believe that all modules feed into the design process in some form or other.

Architecture in the time of Social Distancing 2020 has proved to be a tumultuous and historically significant year already. The global crises we face today, namely COVID-19 pandemic and global warming, revealed the underlying social injustices in current political systems all over the world.

Numerous ground-up movements such as Black Lives Matter, Me Too and Extinction Rebellion took off in response on a global scale. At a local scale, many more groups organized to provide support for each other during these trying times.

In parallel, necessary lockdown and social distancing measures for COVID renewed our appreciation for the open green spaces within the busy urban setting of London and urged us to question the true nature of what we call a ‘public space’.

The current design competition project for Camden Highline commissioned by Camden Town Unlimited is a unique opportunity for an architectural intervention that could address both of these needs; a meaningful and adaptable space for social gatherings/activities and an urban infrastructure that would help alleviate our need for open public space.

In Studio 4 we will investigate in what way architecture could play a role in bringing people together in a socially, economically and environmentally sustainable manner. We will have a critical approach to what London and specifically the borough of Camden needs during these times of crises by drawing from a thorough analysis of the urban context. Furthermore, we will investigate a number of architectural case studies that addressed various sets of political, environmental and cultural needs throughout the architectural discourse. We will then take our own position and build upon our findings from these studies in order to implement new designs that befit London 2020.

Memory and Transformation: The Anatomy of The Curative Space The curative space nest within other significant social, political, and religious spaces of our cities. Its spatial parameters are an interplay between natural and fictional settings, between the world visible to the audience and observer and that evoked by the performance or exhibit.

This academic year, Studio 3 will focus on the phenomenology of space and its transformation influenced by a range of disciplines; cognitive psychology, archaeology, cultural and theatrical studies, performance theory and architectural history. Space is an essential ingredient of both museums and theatres; of what they are, what characterises them and ultimately how they function.

Through a series of exploratory tasks, we will interrogate the relationship between the passive (audience /exhibits) and the active (performance/observer). It is our intention that this research and interpretation will explore contemporary views of the theatrical, curatorial and performative practices and the spatial challenges presented in the dualities of what constitute a ‘site’ (e.g., outside-inside, public-private, natural-synthetic).

Our design projects intend to broaden the students understanding of these dualities by investigating the spatial dynamics of the personal and the intimate, devoid of normal community (Household Theatre), the interaction between the collector and the collection contained (The Portable Museum), the dynamic relationship of fixed versus mobile and the nomadic aspects of transformable spaces (Trans-portable, Transformable); the nostalgic constraints of redundant space and its opposites potentials (The Adaptive Stage); the connection between ideas, cultural development and architectural manifestation (The Institute of Innovation); The power of bodies in extremis to transform their theatrical environment through interactions of space and temporality “space, time, and memory” (The Urban Arena).

Spyros Kaprinis + Natascha Madeiski Transformative Spatialities As the contemporary city continues to be defined as a plethora of expanding sites, tactical and strategic interventions, confrontations between architectonic and urbanistic spaces, flows, networks, transfers, transits, it is increasingly difficult to imagine how one can manage to carve out a space of habitation within this. As cities are being perceived as spaces of atomisation and estrangement, especially with the current ongoing public health crisis, it is also increasingly difficult to imagine how one can “dwell” in them. BAS2 addresses the question of how one can bring the concept of “transformative spatialities” into confrontation with the city, how to bring historical precedents into confrontation with the flows and networks of the contemporary city.

BAS2 intends to revisit and generate an architectonic & urbanistic concept for novel spaces for the Elephant and Castle area, which is currently being regenerated and redeveloped. Three different scales of implementation will be used: small, medium and large.

The 3 modules aim to develop research and design methods based on precedents and contexts, which will allow students to generate a variety of proposals through the diagrammatic and analytical examination of the existing conditions (site conditions, local economic-political and social conditions, cultural/ideological issues, history of “tradition” of building, construction methods and techniques, etc.) and other contemporary contexts, such as new materials and techniques, program typologies, and theoretical & conceptual interventions.

The main concepts of context, content and perception are linked to new architectural meanings as transformation, displacement and appearance through projects of different scales. New architectural synthesis techniques will be developed in order to balance contemporary urban conditions in the city of London. We will aim to understand existing preconceptions and reinterpret current trends and conditions. Precedents will be used and analysed diagrammatically, in order to be transformed and transpositioned; this operation will enable students to understand basic tectonic elements and the particularities of different sites and contexts.

Angela Vanezi + Olivier Jauniaux + Antonios Lalos The Future of the CIVIC SPACE Studio 01 is continuing its interest in the community and urban context, we study the impact of local and global issues through civic spaces.We are interested in analysing and speculating on the social, economical and spatial consequences of the new relation between users and the highly technological environment we live in.

We study the experience of the user and the journey created while navigating through the different architectural proposals. We focus our attentions on contemporary means of architectural design and space production, but remain interested to designing architecture, that embraces all aspects of London’s historic, social and cultural compositions. We aim to propose design solutions which celebrate activities in relation to the civic theme taking in consideration the user and the importance of change emergency situations.

Both Year 2 and 3 aims to investigate various aspects of design approaches that focus on the spatial atmospheres of the poetic and demonstrate social empathy while considering change and adaptation. While our methodologies vary from, geometrical, technological and theoretical approaches to design development, we aim at practical solutions in the execution of a design proposal.

Incoming year will focus its research and design development, on the community by analysing and identifying various civic functions into one visually symbolic composition of architecture with aim on raising local issues of Global interest. They are invited to proposes architectural solutions that respond to the needs of a community where they can be educated, grow and support their community relations.

Final year students will look into the transition of a civic space and its use in emergency circumstances. They will study architecture that celebrates the community and analyse special orientations in regards to the environment in support of programs and basic groups that operate within a broader urban sector.

Face > Sur-face > Urban Inter-face The first year design studio serves as the introductory module for architectural discipline. Central to this subject lies the understanding that we, as creators and designers of architectural spaces, are instrumental in the change and quality of our own built environment, which constantly unravels new challenges.

2020 has brought to light how swiftly our environment can change and adapt. It has transformed every nuance of our everyday lives, making numerous routines and activities a thing of the past. These extraordinary developments have and will continually shift and shape the connections we have established within our immediate surroundings and the wider scope of our urban settings. The current constraints on social interaction such as restrictions on ‘face-to-face’ activities however, is rendering the unmasking of the complexities and boundaries of such changes ever more challenging.

This year’s design briefs revolve around the theme and notion of ‘face’ on various levels. From its etymological meaning of ‘form, appearance’ to the medium of an individual and architectural expression, it should provide the primary platform for a series of fundamental design exercises to develop proposals ranging from an abstract, micro-scale project to a medium-scale architectural intervention to perform as an ‘urban interface’.

Let’s consider the many faces of our senses, instincts and memories hidden behind the layers of recent masks to develop and uncover the understanding of our new, very sense of place by adapting to the new abnormal.

Communications involves both analogue drawing and modeling, and the acquisition of advanced digital design skills.

Communications 1 introduces 2D and 3D analogue and digital drawing; Communications 2/Digital Media covers the basics of 3D computer modeling and fabrication, and is connected to development of a design project. The teaching of advanced digital drawing software is an essential part of the course if employment is to be gained in an architect’s office during the course or in the year out between degree and Masters. Students are required to supplement all taught workshops with extensive, self-managed practice in all digital technologies. Technology is an essential element of the architectural design process. Without construction technology, it is impossible to understand and properly critique the performance of a building.

Technology cannot be separated from the design process; it both informs and responds to all other parameters of the design.

The careful yet inventive integration of technological elements will not always ensure that good architecture emerges from a design, but without it, good architecture is not possible at all.

This module aims to introduce to the student the necessary integrative processes between design and technology and, within this, understand fundamental principles of structure, environmental systems and their performance, and the many approaches to consideration and construction of building fabric.

This module includes a series of lectures compiled by academics to promote the critical role of technology in underpinning design decisions in architecture. The lecture series will explore specific case studies to highlight the technological issues involved, with a focus on both normative and innovative solutions in architecture.

The lectures will also be a precursor to the Technology 3 (EBB-6522) module, and provides students with knowledge that informs the design and construction of the proposals for their degree projects.

Cultural Context Cultural Context 01 Carlene Prince An introductory course in architectural history and theory, providing an outline survey of key components, buildings, cities, movements and personalities in the world of architecture. This module aims to give the student a grounding in the western tradition; to familiarise them with the defining characteristics of the architecture of each period; to elucidate the relation of architecture to culture; to allow the student to critically appreciate the value of historical study; to introduce the topic of the city. This module discussed a number of architecturally relevant cities and their strategic development through various periods of history, concerned with political, social and technological implications of city planning and design, touching upon key architects and projects within each of the cities.

Cultural Context 02 and 03 Stephen Lovejoy The Cultural Context 02 module is an intermediate lecture series offering a comprehensive overview of how architecture has evolved in response to the changing needs of society, from the very first nomadic shelters through to the complex multipurpose value-driven architecture of today. In order to cover a broad range of topics in a way that is clear and accessible, the lectures are structured by a hierarchy of priorities. The hierarchy is as follows: Shelter, Order, Meaning, Technology, Culture, Experience and Value.

The lecture series demonstrates that architecture has always responded to the needs and concerns of society, and has grown increasingly complex in response to the growing complexity of society.

Key architectural styles and movements are discussed and placed in their historical context, from the aesthetic styles that developed from the need of organised religions to communicate through their buildings to the rise of future-focused modern architecture following the industrial revolution and the trauma of the World Wars.

Cultural Context 03 explores the many ways in which we can define the role of the architect in society and the impact of architecture. The lectures introduce students to many of the critical debates currently being held within the profession of architecture, as well as examining architecture’s relationship with adjacent disciplines, from planning, urban design and heritage to psychology, economics and politics.

Architecture is explored at a range of scales and a range of contexts, both historical and contemporary, and various critical interpretations are introduced and examined. Who architects are designing for, and how they should be designing are key queries that the series addresses.
