ficina Vidre Negre was born as a contemporary sculpture, a symbol of a dynamic and continuous development with the need for strong identification, even in terms of image.

In a context of peripheral node of the motorway, the building is set within a park, planted with native species, in which a sort of town square accompanied to the entrance. The dynamism of the client is shown in architecture, volume changing, a prism completely covered in black glass faceted and integrated photovoltaic panels. The structure is split reflected in the wide expanse of water over the stage function, is the reserve of water for fire-fighting system and irrigation of the park. The decomposition of the volume remains in the interior, intersected a sequence of spaces on four staggered levels, illuminated by more than cuts and side windows. In plan the building is on the east-west, in two wings separated by a central block of facilities (stairs, toilets and bars). Operating areas are designed as open-space, while the executive offices, the private sector, are tested in the east of the building, projected to the outside and suspended in a vacuum. www.architecture256.com

Duilio Damilano

graduated at Polytechnic of Turin in 1988, founded his architectural firm in 1990. He was born in Cuneo from a family of sculptors and he was interested in architecture since he was a child developing interest in plastic and material aspects of objects. The work of the practice, according to critic Brunetto De Battè, breaks immediately the connection with the masters of Piedmont area standing out and develops two lines of architectural composition that almost negate each other. On one side the clarity and purity of signs in stately homes and on the other side the sperimental forms of its commercial and industrial buildings. These are two opposite lines of research, sometimes strident each other, that seem not to destabilize the architect and who live and feed off each bringing out three interpretations of the works suggested by the architect Luigi Prestinenza Puglisi, one of the most important italian architecture critics: the symbolic, the sculptural and the emotional. Major areas of interest of Damilanostudio architects are the design of residential, offices, commercial, and graphic both in Italy and abroad.

GRATICULE HOUSE Situated on a hillside site, the Graticule House is conceived to be a trace, or reference datum, allowing a reading of the relationship between the building and nature. Fundamental to the conception of the house is the notion of cadence, where repetitious vertical and horizontal markers of the building’s tectonics are juxtaposed with the particularity of the forest and ground plane. Light and space are modulated by meshing ribbons of glass and wall planes that form a tessellation of solid and void 02 Glass-work by the entry creating a transparent effect through the interior space 01 Pathway leading to the entry
