You will find that there are a lot of sites on the Web whose very purpose and existence is to convince you that it is not only easy to learn to play piano, you can learn in as little as just a few weeks. And, "With Emotion and Originality" - What good is it just learning a bunch of notes, scales and chords if all I can do is play from memory some lines from a sheet of music, 'copy-cat' some songs from piano 'tablature' or just replay borrowed piano 'licks'? If you have arrived here at this article, then maybe you are like me and your goal is not just to learn the basic notes and chords on the piano. Your desire is to learn how to really 'play' the piano with originality, learn and use your own creativity and create music that comes from your heart! Sure, learning popular songs is fun and will impress those around you. And frankly, I would expect that it is a necessary element of any piano instruction and an important step in learning to play.
