With an inclusive, family-oriented environment, you will receive an education that turns the smallest spark of passion into a lifetime of thriving, anywhere. GROW HERE
We are a Catholic High School in the Holy Cross tradition. We celebrate our diversity, value each person, and welcome one another with the hospitality of Christ.
As a family of learners, anchored in gospel values, we empower each other to grow spiritually, develop intellectually and reach out in service to others.
Within an innovative and orderly learning environment, we are committed to challenging each student in both heart and mind to be a compassionate individual, a lifelong learner and a responsible steward of God's creation.
“
The quality which defines the students of a Holy Cross education heritage is the training of the hearts as well as the minds.
BLESSED BASIL MOREAU Founder of the Congregation of Holy Cross
Reliance on Divine Providence. Excellence. Cultivation of the Heart as Well as The Mind. Inclusiveness. Discipline. Option for the Poor. Hope. Family. Integrity. Zeal.
Now more than ever, our world needs leaders with thoughtful, critical thinking skills. Hoban’s Holy Cross educators live out Blessed Basil Moreau’s challenge to educate the hearts and minds of students so that they may have the competence to see and the courage to act.
Hoban’s academic courses, along with a college credit program, including 13 Advanced Placement courses, challenge and equip students for post-secondary success. Hoban graduates regularly share how well-equipped they are in college.
“ My horizons were expanded academically, athletically and spiritually at Hoban. I was two steps ahead of my college peers, and I knew how to handle adversity. Hoban helped prepare me for success in life.
TODD SIBLEY CLASS OF ’08
Hoban supports a wide array of learning styles to help each student achieve their academic goals. Hoban’s Academic Success Center collaborates closely with the faculty and administration to ensure all students have the necessary tools and support to achieve success in high school and beyond.
Hoban's counseling team provides comprehensive services that address the whole student—academic, social and emotional growth. All students receive school and college and career counseling to help achieve academic and longterm goals. Clinical counseling is also available to students upon request.
Students with approved accommodation and intervention plans receive the support necessary to thrive. Support services are tailored to the specific needs of each student.
The Holy Cross Pathways program provides a structured, supportive learning environment to students who require modified curriculum and instruction. Named in recognition of the school’s connection to and sponsorship by the Brothers of Holy Cross, Holy Cross Pathways provides a structured, supportive learning environment led by a full-time teacher and intervention specialist. Students enrolled in the Holy Cross Pathways program receive a modified curriculum and instruction that is tailored to meet their individual needs. Students select elective courses and learn alongside peers to foster an inclusive community.

Advanced Placement courses are taught by Hoban faculty using the curriculum approved by the College Board. Successful completion of coursework in the AP program allows students the opportunity to take the AP exam in May. Students who take the AP test and earn a score of 3 or higher may receive course credit from colleges and universities.
College Credit Plus allows students to take college classes at either Hoban or at a local university. Students taking CCP courses must complete an application and meet the program requirements. Students who choose to take classes at an Ohio public college or university do not pay tuition, fees or purchase textbooks. Students who take classes at a private college or university may have limited costs. Students receive both high school and college credit. Currently, Hoban partners with the University of Mount Union.
Hoban welcomes a diverse community of learners who are ready to ignite their future. Each student enters with unique abilities, gifts and challenges to overcome. As Holy Cross educators, we help each student light their path, pursue it with blazing zeal and stay true to who they are.

Campus Ministry provides faith formation and support to students of all religious backgrounds as a way to nurture and fuel their faith beyond the classroom setting.
Students are encouraged to be involved in liturgies by serving as an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion, altar servers and leading the school in daily prayer. The Office of Campus Ministry and Mission Effectiveness serves three major functions— liturgy, retreats and Christian service— to complement the theology curriculum.
Campus Ministry and the theology department offer retreat programs for all grade levels.
Retreats offer students a break from the stress and noise of the world. Prayer, community and fun are blended throughout the day for an engaging and meaningful spiritual experience to help students create an experience that is true to them. In addition to the required annual class days of reflection, optional retreats are available.
Offered three times a year, these optional, student-led weekend retreats are offered to juniors and seniors and are some of the most important and meaningful activities Hoban students experience.
The Holy Cross Conference for Student Leaders at Holy Cross College, Notre Dame, IN., is an opportunity for students to learn about our Holy Cross history, meet students from other Holy Cross schools and take time to pray and reflect.
As a Catholic high school, the entire school family gathers for Mass at key times of the year.
Morning Mass is celebrated every week and is open to all students and Holy Cross educators. Prayer services are held throughout the year. Students are encouraged to be involved in Christian Ministry by serving as an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion and leading the school in daily prayer.
Christian service empowers students to be faithful to our Holy Cross tradition, which calls us to “have the competence to see and the courage to act.”
Hoban offers a multitude of service opportunities, facilitating effortless engagement in community oriented activities for those looking to contribute and give back, including:
A multiple-day, summer retreat for students to participate in a service project with a local community organization.
Hoban’s Outreach for Peace and Equality empowers students to prepare and serve food and share fellowship with members of the Akron community who are experiencing homelessness, food insecurity and/or other hardships.
Students travel to various schools and non-profit organizations to provide individual tutoring assistance with reading, spelling, math, vocabulary and other fundamental academic skills. Students serve as positive role models for younger students on their educational journeys.
Hoban’s comprehensive athletic program offers students the opportunity to participate in 27 sports as part of a three-season schedule—fall, winter and spring. Applying Holy Cross values, coaches inspire, motivate, teach and reinforce the work ethic and attitudes crucial to team and individual success. Student-athletes receive strength and conditioning training throughout the year in Hoban’s state-ofthe-art, 11,000-square-foot fitness facility

Hoban has helped me branch out and meet amazing people and has allowed me to work on personal growth with exceptional teachers who spark my curiosity. I have learned countless life lessons outside of the classroom through their mentorship. Hoban’s Holy Cross educators’ kindness, empathy and generosity have helped shape me. I appreciate the opportunities and community surrounding me.

The Hoban community beautifully embodies Northern Ohio. For students concerned about not knowing many people, they quickly discover they are not alone. Our school culture thrives on diversity and the fusion of different backgrounds. Here, students are encouraged to embrace their true selves, learn from each other and grow into the person God calls them to be.

Archbishop Hoban High School is committed to providing financial assistance so that all qualified students have the opportunity to receive a Hoban education. For the 2025-26 school year, Hoban students were awarded more than $10,194,676.77 in financial assistance in the form of grants, endowed scholarships provided by the Hoban Fund, scholarships provided by the State of Ohio, outside scholarships and need-based tuition assistance. Hoban is an approved provider of the EdChoice and Jon Peterson Scholarships programs.
Archbishop Hoban High School and the Diocese of Cleveland use FACTS Management to determine eligibility for need-based aid and to manage tuition payments. FACTS is the nation’s leading provider of tuition management, grant and aid assessment and school payment processing for private and faith-based schools. Families are required to complete an online FACTS Grant and Aid Assessment Application to be considered for assistance and to manage tuition payments. All assistance must be applied for annually. Students receiving endowed scholarships are required to write a brief note of appreciation to the generous donors to The Hoban Fund.
Applying for scholarships and financial assistance
Families who would like to be considered for a scholarship and/or financial assistance must complete a FACTS Grant and Aid Application by December 1. The application can be found within your student’s MyHoban account checklist. Students who receive a placement test scholarship do not need to complete FACTS, unless they would like to be considered for additional Hoban scholarships and grants. Applications received after Dec. 1 will be considered only if additional funds become available.
