Silangan UE Alumnus and ‘Voice of ABS-CBN’ is Yearend Commencement Rites Speaker Mr. Peter A. Musngi, Vice President for the Manila Radio Division and Managing Director of ABS-CBN Sports, will be the commencement speaker for the afternoon session of the UE 2012 Yearend Commencement Rites on April 25, 2012, 2 p.m. at the Philippine International Convention Center Plenary Hall. The afternoon commencement will be for the graduating students of the Colleges of Arts and SciencesCaloocan, Business AdministrationCaloocan, Computer Studies and Systems, Engineering-Caloocan, Engineering-Manila and Fine Arts. A native of Santiago City, Isabela, Mr. Musngi graduated from the UE College of Business Administration -Manila with the degree of Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, major in Accounting, in 1972, before passing the certified public accountant board exam in 1973. His passion, however, had been for radio. As a high school student, Mr. Musngi spent his summer vacations spinning for a radio station where

a relative was the manager. His accounting degree notwithstanding, he found himself working as a disc jockey, voiceover announcer, production chief, programming director, rising to station manager and eventually his current VP position in ABS-CBN.

As the Vice President of the ABS-CBN’s Manila Radio Division, Mr. Musngi oversees the day-to-day operations of two of Metro Manila’s leading radio stations: AM station DZMM and FM station DWRR. Mr. Musngi is also the brains behind DZMM Teleradyo, a marriage

Topnotch UE High School Alumni to Return as Elementary-HS Graduation Speakers The UE Elementary and High School Department (EHSD) in UE Caloocan and the Elementary and Secondary Laboratory Schools (ESLS) in UE Manila will be holding their 2012 Commencement Rites on April 3 (Tuesday) and April 11 (Wednesday), respectively, 2 p.m., at the UE Theatre at the Manila Campus. Mr. Jose N. Romblon, a 1986 UE Caloocan High School graduate, will be the Commencement Speaker for EHSD Caloocan. He is the Chief Executive Officer of JN Romblon Management Consulting, an accounting, audit and taxation consulting firm. He is also the Chairman of Aksenture Platinum Marketing Corporation, Autobility International Car Solutions Inc.

His compassion and devotion to social services earned for him the crucial appointment of being the Philippine Ambassador to the Holy See in 1986. Currently, Dr. Dee serves as the Chairman of the Assisi Development Foundation; Vice President of the Family Rosary Crusade; and President of Bahay Maria Inc. Achievement Awards in 2003; and the Aurora Aragon Quezon Special Peace Awardee in 2006. He is one of the 60 Most Outstanding UE Alumni awarded during the University’s Diamond Jubilee in September 2006. He was also conferred Doctor of Humanities, Honoris Causa, by the Xavier University in 1999 and by Ateneo de Manila University in 2009. Dr. Dee will be UE’s 29th honorary degree recipient and the ninth UE alumnus to be bestowed a degree, honoris causa, by his Alma Mater. The conferment coincides with the 2012 Yearend Commencement Rites of the UE Colleges of Law, Dentistry, Arts and Sciences-Manila, Business Administration-Manila, and Education, and the Graduate School. (The other colleges—CAS Caloocan, CBA Caloocan, Computer Studies and Systems, Colleges of Engineering-Manila and -Caloocan, and Fine Arts—will have their commencement rites at 2 p.m., also on April 25, at the PICC Plenary Hall.)

Mr. Romblon is an active member of the Quezon City Capitol Jaycees, Inc. and is a Charter Member of the Rotary Club of Diliman North, wherein he has assumed several positions. He is also a Past President (2009-2010) of the Rotary Club of Tomas Morato District 3780 in Quezon City. M e a n w h i l e , ESLS ’s 2 0 1 2 graduates will be addressed by Atty. Siegfried B. Mison, Associate Commissioner of the Bureau of Immigration. Commissioner Mison is a 1982 UE Secondary Laboratory School graduate. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree from the US Military Academy in West Point, New York, USA, and his Juris Doctor degree from the Ateneo Law School. He then earned his Master of Laws degree from the University of Southern California School of Law in Los Angeles. He is admitted to the Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP), the State Bar of California, and the Illinois Board of Admissions to the Bar on a limited capacity. Commissioner Mison served as an officer of the Armed Forces of the Philippines from 1987 to 1997. He also served as a part-time Commissioner

of radio and television wherein DZMM’s on-air radio broadcasters are seen on Skycable, along with the pertinent headlines of the day. Of late, DZMM Teleradyo is the highestrating cable news channel in the Philippines, even higher than CNN, BBC and Bloomberg. He is also best known as the voice of ABS-CBN, lending his distinctive vocal to the network’s numerous plugs and commercials in Filipino and English alike. Given his career dedication, Mr. Musngi has received several accolades from various award-giving bodies, such as the KBP Golden Dove Awards, Gawad Tanglaw, UP Gandingan and the Rotary Club of Manila. He was recognized as one of the UE Diamond Jubilee Alumni Achievers when the University celebrated its 60th Foundation Anniversary in 2006. More recently, he was the lone media executive recognized in the 2011 Communication Excellence in Organizations Awards by the International Association of Business Communicators Philippines last June 2011.

In addition, he has been a Partner at the Malcolm Law Offices in Makati since 1994. Commissioner Mison has likewise been UE’s Legal Counsel, a position he first held from 2003 to 2005, and again upon his return in 2008. Due to his current BI duties, however, he is temporarily on leave from the University. Prior to their respective Commencement Rites, both the EHSD and ESLS will have their own Baccalaureate Masses at the Conference Hall in UE Manila. The EHSD’s Thanksgiving Mass will be on April 3, 8:30 a.m., while the ESLS will have its Baccalaureate Mass on April 11, 8 a.m.
