ALDSem9Studiodwelvedupondocumentingandanalysingthe GSouthwardofMumbai.Thestudywasdonethrough 6topicscharacter of ward, open spaces, safety aspect, connectivity, disaster and administration. The study culminated into an aimcritically analyse the ward and give certain proposals at urban level for the enhancement in the functioning of the ward. The studio was split into groups - each group studied one of the above mentioned topic and gave proposals in their respective domain . This study has been compiled and published in the reportpresented.
The G South ward homes a blend of varying built typologies. The typology came into existence with evolution of the port city into an industrial megapolis and now a commercial hub. The forever changing skyline comprising of office complexes , high end residential buildings, cultural centers, defunct mills, tall brick chimneys andculminatesintotheoceanwiththesprawlofworli koliwada.
The ward which actually becomes a gateway to south mumbai, has seen a great boom in real estate development. From worli koliwada to haji ali dargah, the promenades, the transport networks, transformed mills, the vivid cultures all justify towards onefactthattheward‘celebratesthisdiversity’.

Inordertocontrolthetraffic, efficiency of public transport systems needstobe upgraded.
Transportation networks, from bicycle paths to buses and railways, are the backbone of urban mobility. In large metropolitan areas, the integration of different transport modes has become crucialtoguaranteethe fast and sustainable flow of people
Multimodal transport systems can be described as multilayer networks where the networks associated to different transport modes are not considered in isolation, but as a set of interconnectedlayers.
Multi-modal transportation also is inclusive because it provides affordable options for all segments ofacity'spopulation.
The integration of all modes of public transport present an opportunity to develop public spaces betweenanytwo/threemodesoftransport.

Interactioninpublicspacesisanoldtraditionandneeds to be policy of contemporary cities. A good city should have a good community life. Urbanized centers world over have a tendency to create individual spaces and gated communities which result in aloofness, loneliness and depressed lifestyles. Sense of community fades and individualism takes over. City designers need to set the stage for necessary activities like walking, optional activities like enjoying a view and social activities like temptingpublicactivities.
Indevelopingasmartcity, itcertainlyhasmanyaspects that must be met. One of these aspects is the aspect of securityinthecitywhichisusuallycalledasafecity."Safe city concept is one approach and as part of the live concept of the city focusing on the crime problem in urban areas". In other words, Safe City is an idea in a community that uses technology to help governments, communities and businesses reduce the possibility of crime and provide an environment where people feel safeandcomfortable.

Flooding is a major cause of disaster in the urban zone due to reasons like lack of proper drainage systems, lack of seepage areas and concretisation of majority of unbuilt land.
