Coach Michael Lockyer is the head coach for the Sophomore team and a Colorado Native. He graduated from the University of Northern Colorado with a BA in Mathematics. He has been teaching since 1993. This is his third year coaching at Arapahoe. He loves baseball and interacting with students in a di erent context than Math. When he not coaching, Coach Lockyer loves hiking and backpacking in the beautiful Rocky Mountains.

Coach Leyden is a Colorado Native and grew up in Southwest Denver. When he moved into a new Subdivision in 1964, Hampden Ave east (the Valley Highway) was a dirt road. The neighborhood was full of young kids, they played on the Highline Canal, and built tree forts and swings over the canal. The canal filled up on

Memorial Day weekend and flowed until Labor Day Weekend. His parents never saw him until it was too dark to see! His baseball life started at the age of 6. He played with the older kids as a Titian, on a small backstop field behind Thomas Je erson High School. He was fortunate to have very young, enthusiastic and passionate coaches. His dad was instrumental in working with him on the mechanics of every position in baseball. He immediately became hooked on baseball, played spring ball, summer ball, and wished there was fall ball back in the day.

He first strapped up cleats at Thomas Je erson High School where his primary position was starting pitcher. He played against the top high schools during his the 4 years at TJ. He made a bad decision his senior year in early March throwing 3 innings during a scrimmage and then played centerfield. There was a man on second, the ball was hit to him, he came up throwing to home, and damaged his elbow! After TJ, he went to Northern Colorado and was unable to make the team. His wife Jennifer has been a teacher at Arapahoe High School for 27 years, dedicated to students as both a teacher and as a coach. She introduced him to Coach Dollaghan who was looking for assistant coaches, and that’s when he joined the sta His passion for students and teaching baseball is unparalleled. Last year brought him back to his early years of life and baseball. The excitement of being part of a team. Seeing each player grow, learn, and better understand baseball.

Joseph Herera is a first year English teacher at Arapahoe. He married his high school sweetheart Nicole and they will be celebrating their 7th anniversary in June. They have 3 children; Theo (4), Lucy (2), and Henry (3 months). Joseph graduated from the University of St Thomas (MN) where he played baseball (1B/OF) and football. He has coached football at both the college and high school level for 10 years and is currently a varsity assistant at Arapahoe. He coached baseball for 2 seasons at Brighton High School (his alma mater). He coaches because he wholeheartedly trusts in the educational experience that lies within athletics and the opportunities to teach life lessons.

Reid Pebbles is a junior at Arapahoe high school. After he graduates, he plans to go on a 2 year mission trip with his church. When he gets back, he will attend college. He played baseball for Arapahoe the past two years and his primary position was outfield. He has one brother and two sisters. Reid is grateful and glad to have the opportunity to coach the freshman team and is looking forward to a great season.
